"What the hell happened?! I told you to be a scout! A scout! I leave you alone for one day and you're picking fights and bringing a human into our territory! You have gone too far Ari!" Lex fumes. "It was the only logical option Lex! If I left him, the Duskwalkers would have gotten him and turned him. Another casualty and another enemy, so I did the right thing! If we can use him and have an ally in the city, we have an advantage!" I spit. Lex backs away, startled by my outburst, good for him, if I was him I would do the same. "Spoken like a true leader Ariana. Your mother would be proud." A familiar voice from behind me says. I turn around and I see a face I haven't seen for a good couple of years. "Uncle Mike?" His short brown hair and brown stubble with a few stray grey hairs move when he smirked."How's my little leader?" I run over and tackle him in a bear hug. "It has been too long Uncle Mike. When you got called into the Mexico mission, I thought you'd never return. Never go again please." Mike chuckles. "I won't, I'm here to stay." Lex gives an awkward cough. We both look over. "Okay, okay, the human can stay, for now. Until we know what we can do with him." Lex sighs.
As I'm training my ice bending, on the intercom I hear "Aria, come to the infirmary, the human is awake." I stop what I was doing and start walking to the emergency room. "Thanks Ashten." I say on the intercom. "No problem Aria." As soon as I reach the infirmary I hear pained screams coming from Nathan's room. "Get away from me! Don't hurt me please!" I see Nathan pinned to the hospital bed by several nurses trying to calm him down. "Is that any way to treat our guests? Back up guys, no wonder he's panicking. You're all over him." The nurses get off him and he visibly gets calmer. "Aria, where are we? How did I?" I sit on the bed and give his hand a reassuring squeeze. "When you passed out, I carried you to our infirmary, treating your concussion. There are no enemies here, you're safe. I promise." I wink reassuringly. Nathan lets out a relieved sigh and sinks down in his bed. Within a few minutes, he drifts off to sleep. "If you're wrong about him and he's a liability, that's on you Ari." Lex leans on the doorframe. "He won't be, if he is a liability though, I'll kill him myself. That is a promise." I coldly reply.
In the far corners of Moncton, Marcus and the others trudge their way to their leader, bearing bad news. "Sir, the human got away, the saviour was there and defeated us. I have failed you." Marcus states. A low chuckle echos, "No, you haven't, you have learned of a weakness of the girl, my son. She cares for the human's safety." The voice boomed. "Find a way to hurt the human and she will fall. It is like dominos, come my children, we must prepare!" A dark laughter fills the room.
"Hey Natey." Nathan wakes up, panting, checking his surroundings quickly. "Oh thank god." he sighs. "Don't thank god, thank me. I'm the one that saved you." I snort. Nathan looks to me, exasperated. "I thought...I thought that she was here, she was going to kill me." He replies. "One, that was a dream, she's not here, you're safe. Two, she wasn't going to kill you. She was going to turn you like her, a red eyed, blood drinking killer." I state. "Oh. Well, anyway, what are you doing here Aria?" He asks with curiosity in his eyes. I chuckle, "Well, I thought you would be bored ass hell cooped up in here, so I thought that you would want to go outside and explore. See the city, people. So get your ass up!" I grab and pull his arm and drag him to his feet and out the door. "A-Aria!" He stumbles.
