Chapter 14

Chapter 14

Devyn Dexter's Pov

All I did, all that I was able to do was lay around all day.

Nothing to entertain me or nothing to do.

I could not tell the time as there were no clocks here.

My memory has not come back to me. It was like trying to remember what was on a blank page.

All I could do was stare at the wall consumed by the thoughts that had absorbed my mind.

I know that I am supposed to be released today but no one has come to the room that I had been locked in for what seemed like hours.

My entire body is sore.

The bruises that covered my body were quite evident.

The handcuff on my wrist wasn't helping it either.

The room is filled with silence. No mutters, no voices, nothing but my thoughts.

The doctor said I lost control of my powers even though I don't remember such a thing.

All I remember was stepping up in front of the class to present my powers.

The rest was blank.

Not too long after the door opened.

There I saw the same doctor and my dad.

They simply smiled when they saw me. I don't know if it was out of pity or to assure me that everything was going to be done based on my condition.

"Good afternoon Ms.Dexter, it's time for your release.

We already checked to see if anything was wrong with you but it looks like the whole situation was because of the lack of use for your power.

So there is no need to worry." The doctor told me.

My mom wasn't there. I'm surprised that she didn't come. She probably went on a business trip since that's all she does.

It no longer disappoints me but I somewhat wished that she was here.

"Does that mean you can get these stupid handcuffs off me?" I said looking down at my wrist.

I noticed the shift in both my dad's and the doctor's body language.

It seems tenser if that's the word I should use.

The doctor then took a swift look at my father who didn't look too pleased by his action.

"Of course sweetheart. I don't even know why it was done in the first place" he said to me having a fake smile planted on his face.

The doctor then hesitantly took the keys out of his pocket looking at my father once more as if he were saying "Are you sure about this".

He was quite easy to read. It was basically written on his face.

My father shot him a death glare which caused the doctor to wall up to me taking the handcuffs off my wrist.

It felt so good to feel free, even though I wasn't fully free from this nightmare. It was still a relief for the handcuffs to be off.

My father was always quite serious when it came to certain things. The doctor however looked quite intimidated by him

" Alright, I'll leave you both to it. You can check out at any time" he said leaving the room hastily.

My father then handed me some clothes for me to change into.

"I'll be right outside so when you're finished we can go home,"  my dad said closing the door on his way out.

I quickly changed into the clothes he gave to me. It was quite a pain since I was so sore.

I then slightly opened the door to which I saw my father talking to the same doctor.

I was quite interested since I had a funny feeling about the doctor. I also didn't trust my father for multiple reasons.

I decided to take a listen.

"So you'll take the deal". The doctor said to my father.

" Yes but only if no one finds out. Not even that stubborn wife of mine. She's quite against the idea" he said in a condescending tone.

" I already have the pills she should take to suppress her powers which will eventually weaken her.

After which you hand her over to the organization that I told you about. Tell her it's for migraines because of the incident". He spoke almost laughing as if it were a joke.

" So you said twice a day it should help-" my father said before.

"Ahem" I cleared my throat as I had heard enough of their little conversation.

I walked through them and simply smiled at them.

"Are we ready now? I'm tired of staying at this hospital," I said to them.

You could tell that it took them by surprise since I saw their eyes widen when they heard me.

However, they tried to remain calm and expressionless.

"Yes sweetie, I was just making sure everything was okay with the doctor, right? My father said turning his head to face the doctor.

" Yes and well although I do like the conversation I really do need to get going," the doctor said as he walked off. He looked so accomplished.

We then left the hospital.

God, how I'm happy that I'm out of that place. Even though I now have another problem to worry about.

Not a word was said in the car.

The thought of mom crossed my mind. She clearly doesn't know about Dad and him trying to feed me pills to suppress my powers.

Should I trust her?

I still need to talk to the others to see their opinion on the whole thing. I also needed to be caught up with what I've missed these past few days.

As we approached the driveway of our house I got out of the vehicle not sparing a word.

I went up the stairs hastily not running however as I was not fully capable of doing so quite yet.

When I went to my room I took my phone up immediately.

I had a feeling that Damon would bring it to my room.

At least I was right with that.

I quickly called the others. To my surprise, they answered almost immediately.

"We need to talk, "I said.

" We have something too. This is important. It's about the books" Oliver said to me.

"It's about some prophecy"
