It was finally monday, and I felt so much better. I woke up early so I can make it in time for all of my classes, I brushed my teeth and took a quick shower before putting on a maroon tank top and gray shorts. I put my short black dyed hair into two space buns.
I made breakfast for myself before giving Beatrix her food and shortly leaving the house soon after. I walked a few minutes before making it to the school. I went inside and waited in front of my first period class. Ms. Pam looks at me in shock before letting it go. The bell finally rung letting us go into class.
"Good morning class, we'll be working on.." As soon as she started the lesson I kept zoning out. I realized that Aria didn't show up to school today, she probably knew it'd be the worst idea. The next 40 minutes fly by.
"Okay class, homework is the rest of the worksheet. You're dismissed." I packed my bag before heading out the class. I walk to the math class, running into Niven.
"Hey. How are you doing?" He leaned into the wall, chewing on his pen cap.
"Hi, I'm fine. Feel brand new. I have the worksheets, she knows the situation so she won't deduct any points." I truthfully answered his question. The bell rung, allowing us to finally enter the classroom once the students from the last period left. I placed the worksheet on the teachers desk before sitting in my assigned seat.
"Grey's been worried about you." Niven whispered to me. I fix my posture before replying.
"Why?"
"You don't know?" He had a shocked expression. I shake my head before he laughed at me.
"You'll find out soon." He pat my head before looking over to the teacher.
The teacher started the lesson, giving me some side looks in the middle of them. I ignored the brief stares and worked on the assignments. Niven wrote a note on a paper and slid it on the desk. I looked down at the message.
How do you feel about Grey? You guys got awfully close ;)
I laughed to myself before writing on it:
I wish I can tell you. He does have a soft chest though.
I look over to Niven and see a funny expression on his face.
We fell asleep and I somehow ended up on his chest. Nothing else happened.
I wrote on another piece of paper. He sighed in relief before putting the notes in his pocket. I notice that the teacher was staring at us so I quickly fixed my posture and pretended to working on notes. The class ends soon, so the teacher decided to dismiss us early.
We pack our bags before Niven grabbed my wrist. I slightly wince at it.
"Wait, what happened to your wrists?" He whispered. I nodded at him before rubbing it.
"I fell and landed on it. I'll be fine though." I continued rubbing my wrist as I walked towards the door. When I walked out I felt an arm on my side. I quickly turn back and pull the arm away.
"Vio, really?" Grey pulled his arm away from me.
"What do you expect?" I rolled my eyes at him.
"I don't know, but I want to spar today with you. Unless you're too weak." He smirked at me. He knew I wouldn't miss out on an opportunity.
"You got it." I shook his hand. All seniors had off this period, but we usually spent it alone. I walked away from the others to the sorcerers training ground. I spent the period working on advanced sorcerer spells, succeeding in most of them. I heard the door open and it was James.
"Why'd you consider going to them? You're like this because of them." He sat at a nearby chair. I mentally prepared myself for the lecture.
"You're acting as if I did go to them, it was just a thought. They would've been more helpful than you." I continued practicing. He got up and walked next to me.
"What if you did go to them? You wouldn't have came back. I'm trying to help you. I've never heard of that condition you were in. Flex your wrist a bit more for that spell." He gave me a lecture and helped with my training. I tried flexing my wrist but because of the soreness it hurt. I groaned in frustration before giving up.
"Whatever, I need to take a break anyways. Well, it didn't happen so I'm fine. You guys need to have faith in me." I took a drink out of my bottle. Stretching soon after. I heard the door open again and I turn back to see that it was Grey.
"Well, I'll talk to you later about it. We're just looking out for you." James concluded before heading out. Grey walked over to me and just stared.
"What?" I got up, stretching my arms this time.
"You're so careless. How are you feeling?" He took off his hoodie and had a white t-shirt under it.
"I'm fine. I'm not careless, I didn't go. Why are you guys so stuck on a simple idea?" I started punching a nearby punching bag.
"Oh really? What if you did go? It was a careless thought." Grey stretched next to me.
"Well, if I did I would've been either dead or held there. It's not as if I couldn't help myself once the four days were up." I smirked before I kicked the bag. I looked at the clock and realized we had a few minutes until class started. I took the opportunity and just relaxed.
"Fine. Just don't impulsively go to them for help. You shouldn't risk it." Grey threw his hoodie at my face, I caught it and held it in my hands. He sat along side of me. I get where he was coming from, but he didn't' see my perspective.
"Listen, imagine this. You made a bunch of new friends and you're finally happy and free. One day, this evil demon spawn comes and terrorizes those people because you love them. How would you feel?" I turned to face him.
"I would feel guilty but, there's not much you can do other than get rid of the demon spawn. Instead of moping around about it, maybe get rid of the issue?" He grabbed a piece of mint gum and put it in his mouth.
"What if you can't get rid of the demon spawn? I mean, there's a chance you can but either way people will get hurt." I felt my chest get heavier by the second.
"Try and isolate the demon spawn and fight it. Whether it costs me my life or not." I don't think he realizes what the topic is. I just nod at him before playing with the strings of the hoodie.
"To the moon, right?" I looked up to him, catching him by surprise.
"To the moon." He gave me a little smile. I smile back before pinching his cheek. He slapped my hand away.
"Why?"
"Because I want to squeeze them." I huffed. He gave up and let me squeeze them. We both started laughing before we heard the bell ring.
"We're sparring in a few minutes don't forget." He got up and walked towards a few different guys. I got up and put the hoodie in my bookbag straps. The teacher didn't come in.
"Does anyone know if he's coming in today?" I asked the others.
"He said he isn't. Says he trusts us so we can do whatever." Greys friend, Samuel answered. Grey looked at Samuel then back at me. An annoyed face plastered on his face.
I walk over to Niven and remind him that me and Grey are planning to spar. Right on time, Grey comes over.
"Ready?" He had a dark look on his face. I nodded and walked over to the sparring section with him.
We got into position, holding ourselves in stable poses. I look up to Grey trying to kick me, I block his leg with my left arm and try kicking his side with my right leg. He caught my leg, pulling on it. In response I yank it towards me and balance myself.
"No heads up? Okay." I huffed.
We got into position and he charged for me. I dodge and punch his stomach. He responds by holding onto his stomach and using his other hand as a defensive block. He lets go of his stomach and kicks my thigh. I reach for him and we both stumble onto the ground, we tackle for dominance and I get out on top, trapping one of his legs between mine and pulling over him.
I stared down at him with a smirk on my face.
"You know, you look cute on top." Grey innocently stated. Losing focus for a second, he takes the advantage and flips over on top of me, holding both of my wrists in his hands. My legs intertwined with his. I winced at the grip of my wrists.
"I wouldn't say the same for you." I lied to him.
"Wow that's harsh." He let out a little laugh before I headbutt him.
"What was that for?" He got off and groaned in pain.
"For being annoying. We can spar with weapons in a few minutes." He lent his hand out for me to get up, I grabbed it.
I went to the nearby table that had my bottle of water, I opened it and chugged it down.
"So you and Grey?" Niven sat down in the chair close by.
"Hm?" I put my bottle down, taking the seat across from him.
"Are you guys a thing?" I choked on my saliva.
"No, we aren't. What made you think that?" I saw Grey from a distance, leaning on the wall.
"Seems like he's ready, but no we aren't. That's gross." I waved to Niven before walking up to Grey.
"You ready?" Grey had a monotone voice. He seemed annoyed. I nodded and we walked to the padded flooring.
I grabbed a bamboo stick from the weapons area and he grabbed one as well.
We got into positions, circling around waiting for the other to strike. Grey quickly swings the stick to my side, catching me by a split second. I winced when the stick made contact with my side. Ignoring the pain, I hit the stick away with mine. We made quick eye contact, his eyes were glistening. I pushed his stick away even more, quickly sliding it off and hitting his side with one side of the stick and moving the stick so it hit him in the opposite leg.
Our sticks remade contact, both of us trying to get the other one in a secretive way.
"Are they still going?" I heard another kid speak from a distance.
I got impatient and held the sword like my katana. Grey noticed the change in my positioning, taking the opportunity and swinging to my side. I quickly stopped it before the stick could make contact with me, not letting him readjust. I swung the bamboo stick to his leg and tripped him onto the floor. I go down and place the stick on his neck applying a little pressure. My knee placed on his forearm of his dominant hand holding the stick.
He stared at me before looking away.
"Good job." He muttered.
"Sorry, what was that?" I let out a giggle pretending like I didn't hear him.
"Good job." He stated clearly.
"Thank you." I got up and gave him a hand.
We both walked in the same direction. I see others in the class staring at us. It wasn't rare for us to spar but I guess since I was gone for a week they'd expect us to go easy. Weirdos. Once I try to walk away, he grabs my elbow.
"Samuel wanted me to tell you that he likes you." He had a doleful look on his face.
"Tell him I'm not interested. Thank you though." I blatantly answered before walking away. I reached for my water bottle again before I found Niven eyeing me. He winked at me and pointed at Grey. I looked over to Grey and saw that his gloomy mood was gone.
I jogged over to Niven. There was a weird vibe before I realized. I heard arguing behind us, and it was Grey with Samuel.
"It's not my fault you don't have the balls to tell her." I heard Samuel yelling at Grey.
"And it's not my fault she doesn't like you back." Grey shouted before pushing Samuel. I sighed before running over to them. I formed a barrier between them.
"How old are both of you?" I gave them both death glares before grabbing Greys shirt, pulling him to the side.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" I crossed my arms across my chest, looking up to him.
"He started it. When I told him he got mad at me and blamed it on me." He deeply sighed.
"Just go wash up, we can leave class early." I shooed him away to the boys locker room. Niven walked to me, hysterically laughing.
"They act like children, and you act like their mom." I let out a little laugh, it was pretty funny. I excuse myself and go to the bathroom to change back into my clothes. Once I finish I see both Niven and Grey talking, once they saw me their expressions changed.
"What?" I fix my tank top once I walk to them. They both shook their heads as we walked out the classroom.
A sudden alarm went off in the school.
"This is not a fake. Go into the closest class and stay in there until the situation is resolved." The announcements went off. Everyone rushed into a random classroom. I run over to the window and see tons of demons walking towards the school. In the front, I see a demon leader.
"Everyone, remain calm. The school will have it under control. If they get closer we will have to do protocol 4, do you guys remember the steps?" The random teacher asked everyone. They all nodded their heads, in disbelief what was happening.
I ran out of the classroom to the empty hallway.
"Ma'am you need to come into the classroom, immediately." The teacher yelled at me.
"No can do." I sprint away, looking for a particular class.
"Vio, what are you doing? Get in a classroom. The teachers are about to put up the barriers." Grey chased me, grabbing my elbow.
"Do you know what room James is in? I'll be fine." I ask Grey in a panic. I need Mr. James to be safe.
"I don't know. He might be in the gym right now. I'm sure he is." Grey tried reading my face but couldn't get anything out of it.
"Go to Niven." I opened a portal to the front of the school, a few feet away from the demons.
"Don't tell me you're going to fight them? Vio what are you thinking?" Grey grabbed me before I could go into the portal.
"I can handle myself." I push him off of me before I reopen the portal and jump in.
I opened another portal that has Aunt Beth.
"Auntie, can you help me for a second?" I shouted at her.
"I'm busy, what's up?" She looked behind me and saw the tens of demons coming closer to me.
"Go back into school, now or come into the portal. Don't be stupid." She tried reaching for me before I closed the portal.
I formed my katanas before turning around.
They stopped in their tracks.
"Olivine, is it?" The demon leader walked up a bit.
"You things talk? Yes, the daughter of Abigor & Dabria Viotto. What do you want from my school?" I got into form.
"We're here for you. You're powerful and we want you on our side. Your parents told me if you don't listen I have permission to end your life. What do you say kid, live or die?" He tried getting closer before I formed a barrier in front of me.
"Sorry, I'll have to pass. I'm not dumb, why else are you here?" I shouted at the demon leader.
"To get rid of powerful obstacles. Including the advanced class. You were a target, but I thought I can get you to change your mind. If you come with us, we'll leave your school and friends alone, deal?" He reached out his fire arm, covering in scars and tough skin.
"How about, you guys leave now. Alone." I glared past him to the other demons. From a distance I see students watching us through the windows.
I see a portal form on the top of the school building, Grey stepping out of it.
"One second." I form a portal below me and connect it to the one Grey stepped out of.
"What are you doing? You can get hurt." I hiss at him.
"Says the one discussing whatever with a demon leader. I have my weapons and can form more. I can help from the roof." Grey formed his mini daggers in his hand. His magic had a red vibrant color to it.
"Fine." I formed a portal and walked into it, meeting with the demons once again.
"Seems like I have to kill you guys now." I smirked at the demon leader.
"I'd like to see you try." The demon rose his hand up, signaling the other demons to go towards the school. A handful of them came towards me and him.
He comes closer, taking out his sword. I stop his sword with one of my katanas, swinging the other at his side. He kicks me in the stomach, causing me to fall down. I caught myself, throwing spikes at the incoming demons. The spikes went right through most of them, causing them to fall.
The other demons are close to the school, being stopped by a barrier. Grey is on the top with his bow and knives. He took down a handful of them before making eye contact with me. I nod at him, causing him to nod back. I see another portal form on the side of the school, and Niven pops out.
I throw my katanas to the side, and form my spear. The demon leader came closer.
"You have so much potential and you use it on the wrong side." He shouts at me before attacking me with his sword. I block it off with my spear, and we hold this position for a few seconds.
"I know what I'm fighting for. And it's not for you sick demons." I scorned him. "Especially if my parents are on your side." I pushed him back, attacking his side with my spear, just barely missing.
I form a quick portal below him, the other side of it across the town.
I refocus on the other demons. I enlarged my spear by a bit and attacked the rest of the demons. They came one after another, some attacking me at the same time. I formed a gust of wind to push some away.
I looked over to the school and saw the rest of the demons were still trying to get in, the barrier hanging onto a thread. Niven was fighting off a small horde of them alone. I started to form a thunderstorm, aiming at the demons. I point my finger down, causing the lightning bolts to strike the demons.
They all fell, lifeless. I stop the storm in relief. I see Niven give me a thumbs up, causing me to smile.
"VIO WATCH OUT." Grey shouted from the rooftop, I turn around and see the leader trying to pierce a dagger into my skin. I kick his knee causing him to groan and fall back.
An anger arose in me, causing it to drizzle outside. A few lightning bolts hit around the school, the next one hit right next to me.
"You know, you remind me of someone. Persistent, yet fail to get your way. Once you don't, you take it out on innocents. Goodbye, Lero." I shot the lightning bolt through him, causing him to go into shock and die on the spot. His lifeless body fell down onto the floor. Niven ran over to me and Grey formed a portal to us.
"I'm so sick of this." I spat. It started raining harder, more lightning strikes around us. Niven tried getting closer but I stopped him.
"Calm down, we did it." He stepped back. I laughed at his words.
"Calm down? This is one of the many fights I have to deal with until that old hag is dead. I'll just deal with her now." I formed a portal to the old town, before I can step in I felt something wrap around my waist pulling me back. I looked at the rope and realized it was Grey.
"Stop." He gripped my wrist, the adrenaline rush prevented me from feeling any pain. I tried pulling away but he didn't let me.
"Let go." I shouted at him. The rain poured harder around us. Niven just stared back at us, confused on what to do.
"If you don't let go, I will strike you." I whispered into his ear. Grey didn't even budge.
"I saved your life. I'm saving it right now, calm down." I took a second to process everything. I looked around at the dead demons on the floor, and the students staring out the window. They were admiring us. The rain suddenly stopped, and I felt calm.
"Thank you guys." We had a small group hug before letting go. Mr. James ran out and gave me a hug.
"We need to get rid of your mom, soon. I'm so glad you're safe." He tightened his grip. I didn't want to worry about her for the rest of the day. I let go and we all walked into the school. We were cheered by some of the students.
I spent the rest of the day in class, hoping it would be over soon. Once school finally ended I met up with both Niven and Grey.
"Do you guys want to come over?"
