I stayed up most of the night, finishing the letters. I knew it was too soon to leave the others, so I'm staying for the rest of the week. I looked up to the full moon in the starry night. My chest tightened, the thought of Grey being hurt. Everything I did and will do are for them and Aunt Beth.
I looked at the time and saw that it was 3am in the morning. Realization struck me, causing me to send Peter a text message. "Peter, I love you but like a brother. I hope we can still be friends, I'm truly sorry." I sent the text, anxious to look back at my phone. I wrote both him and Clovis a letter as well, but I know they'll receive them at the right time.
"To the moon." I mumbled to myself. I placed my knees on my chest, holding onto them. I looked around the dark, empty apartment. I pushed away my feelings for so long, yet I can't even express them. I'll be hurting him in the process. When is it my turn to be happy?
I stopped moping around and got up to practice more of the power. I was getting tired but there's no time for breaks when your life is danger. I had to be careful with the storm power, I didn't want to accidentally destroy a building in any way. I felt a shock course through my arm. I look down to see the bruises and the cut on my hand. I kicked a nearby chair down, falling onto my knees. I uncontrollably sobbed into my hands, hoping everything becomes fine.
I leaned back into the couch side. Closing my eyes, hoping to find some peace.
I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock. I looked for it but realized I left it on the other side of the couch, closer to the window. I got up from the floor, forgetting how I ended up there. I don't bother checking my messages and clean myself up. I put on a black shirt and a red plaid skirt. I brushed my hair out, putting some anti-frizz spray on it. I left the bathroom to feed Beatrix and finally left the house.
I arrived to school, being greeted by the others. I gave both of them hugs before Grey pulled me aside.
"Your face looks puffy. Are you okay?" He genuinely asked. My heart was in awe.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Don't worry about it." I gave him a smile before walking back towards Niven. I can tell Grey was staring at me as we were walking into the school, but I didn't want to give him the attention.
"I'll see you guys later." I waved off to them as the first bell rung. I went towards my class and saw Aria. She had a worried expression on her face, I shrugged it off. The class went by quickly, I got picked on to answer some questions that I didn't know so that was fun. The bell finally rung, I practically ran to the next class. I saw Niven and my mood immediately brightened up.
"Hey." I walked over to him. He had an anxious look on his face.
"What?" I asked Niven.
"Grey's being off. You might be the reason. Did you guys fight?" He revealed. I thought back to the conversation we had earlier.
"We have a substitute right?" I looked into the room and Niven nodded.
"I'll be back." I ran to the other side of the building to find Grey. I finally found him talking to Samuel and another guy.
"We need to talk." I walked up to him, panting.
"Why?" He had an annoyed tone. I gave him a confused look before I turned my attention to Samuel.
"Hey, can you guys give us some time?" I put on a pouty face. Samuels mouth dropped and he nodded, dragging his friend away.
"What's going on with you?" I interrogated him.
"None of your business." He snapped at me.
"Don't give me an attitude when I'm worrying about you. What the hell is wrong with you?" I sucked my teeth at him.
"You are. Don't you dare talk to me again." He tried walking away before I grabbed his wrist. He pushed me into the wall, wrapping my wrists in his hold.
"What did I just say?" He had a devilish look on his face. His whole body was tense.
"What did I do wrong? You've been off since this morning." I gave him a dull look. I wasn't scared of Grey in any way, he knew that.
"You're hurting, and you're pushing yourself away from us. You really think I believed you when you said you were fine? I'm annoyed that you didn't have enough trust in us to come for help." He let go, backing up.
"I know you didn't believe me, but I can't go to you guys for help. Please, believe me. I trust you guys with all my life." I felt my throat tightening. He saw that my body language changed so he led me outside. Once we made it to the field he pulled me into a hug.
"I'm sorry. I don't want to see you hurting, Vio. I shouldn't have gotten mad, it's your choice." He whispered into my ear. I tightened my grip on him, not wanting to let go. He put his chin on the top of my head, rubbing my back.
"Grey." I mumbled. He looked down at me, confused. I felt my heart skipping beats as his face leaned in closer towards mine. He cupped a side of my face with one hand, the other holding my waist. We both close our eyes simultaneously, our soft lips finally meeting. Pressed against his body, I felt his faint heart beat against mine. We both slowly pulled away.
"Well, that wasn't expected." Grey broke the tension. I let out a short laugh.
"You confessed and told me I didn't have to say anything. Who said I didn't like you back?" I winked at him before fixing my bag. I felt him grab my hand, but he didn't let go.
"Aren't you supposed to be in class?" I shamed him as we walked back inside.
"Yeah, but you came." He defended himself.
"I had reasons. You were upset and took it out on us." I rolled my eyes at him before walking him to his class.
"My question is why couldn't you wait a period?" He had a smirk plastered on his face. I ignored his question and walked away. I couldn't stop smiling from the kiss we had just shared. I walked towards the math class, knowing the substitute might have something to say. I finally made it to the door and knocked on it.
"Why are you late? Your name and ID please." The old man lectured me. I walked over to the desk with him.
"Olivine Viotto. My ID is 18765. Can I go sit now?" I asked the teacher. Once I said my name he had an alarmed expression. He quickly nodded, letting me go sit back down next to Niven.
"Did you really go see him? You're so impatient." Niven started laughing at me. I punched him on the shoulder before showing him this viral video. It was a puppy riding a bigger dog and both of them had a cute hat on.
"Do you see how adorable this is? I want a dog." I sent Grey the same video. Niven pointed out that the dogs had matching collars which made me die in cuteness. The rest of the short period was discussing new episodes of a popular show.
"Class is dismissed." The man announced. We got up and left the room, meeting Grey halfway.
"What did you and Grey talk about?" Niven nudged me as we walked in the hallway.
"I found out why he was upset. We also might've kissed. Don't tell him I told you though." I felt my cheeks heat up. I keep thinking back to the hand placements and how casual it felt. His hand embracing mine afterwards made me feel like I was at home.
"Finally, it took you guys some time." Niven scoffed. Huh?
"What?"
"I mean it was pretty obvious you guys liked each other, it has been for months." Niven quickly glanced at me before looking straight ahead again. Once I wanted to say something, Grey arrived.
"Hey, do you guys want to get some food? A new bakery opened up a few blocks away." Grey offered. We had 40 minutes to spare so I agreed.
"Actually, I have to go talk to a teacher about a project. I'll meet up with you guys there though." Niven rushed away, leaving Grey and I. We shared a look before heading out to the bakery. The walk there was silence and a bit awkward.
"What are you planning on getting?" I brought up. We finally arrived at the bakery.
"I'll get a croissant, chocolate muffin and green tea. What are you getting?" He was looking at the menu.
"A chocolate croissant and a cheese danish." I pointed at the danish that was behind the glass. I looked over to Grey and saw that he was admiring my facial features. A small smile appeared on his face.
"What's that look for?" I nudged him as we walked closer to the cashier.
"I can't admire you now?" He confidentially asked. I felt my cheeks heating up, so I turned to face the cashier. Once we walked up to her, he didn't bother letting me speak.
"Hi, can I please get two chocolate croissants, one cheese danish, one chocolate muffin and a small green tea?" He took out his wallet, while ordering for us. I put my hand on his, making him put the wallet down. I took out my credit card and handed the cashier my card.
"Yes you can. Will that be all?" She asked us. I nodded before she handed me the card back.
"Okay, you can step to the side and we'll call for you. A side note, you guys are a really cute couple. Have a good day." She gave us a smile before waving goodbye. Grey grabbed my hand and we walked to the end of the counter. I guess we're just going to ignore what she said.
"You look cold, are you cold?" Grey started taking off his sweater. I stopped him before he did.
"No, I'm perfectly fine. Thank you though." I looked down at my boots and zoned out. A few minutes pass and I feel Grey shake me a bit.
"Go get seats." I nodded and went towards a table for four. I sat down and waited as Grey was still at the counter. I saw two guys slowly walk up to the table. I internally rolled my eyes as they stood in front of me.
"How can I help you guys?" I faked a smile. They were around Grey's height and I don't think I've seen them around in school.
"No, but we can help you. Are you here alone?" The main guy asked. He started pulling the chair out of the table before someone placed a tray on the table.
"She isn't. She doesn't need help either, so you can leave." Grey came up behind them. The guy sighed and turned around to face him.
"She can speak for herself, can't she?" The guy scolded Grey. I got and leaned over the table to grab his shoulder. Once I did, I grabbed his collar.
"Yeah, I can. Get the hell away from us." I snapped at him. I pushed him away, causing him to fix his shirt. Him and his friends cursed under their breaths as they walked away. I sat back down, fixing my skirt. He sat across from me, we both pretended like that didn't happen.
"Here's your stuff." Grey put the plate in front of me. I thanked him and started eating. We were talking about plans for the break. I didn't want to reveal my plan to him, he would do anything he can to prevent it. I remembered that I was leaving him soon, but I wanted to spend the rest of the time like this.
"I have to go to the bathroom." I rushed to the bathroom and stared at myself in the mirror. I put myself in the most difficult position, unsure of what to do. I'm leaving soon but I want to spend it with them. My phone started ringing, Niven.
"Hey. I'm almost there, where are you guys sitting?" Niven questioned on the other line. I quickly left the bathroom and found Grey.
"We're in the back of the café. See you soon." I hung up on him and sat back down.
"He's almost here." I announced to Grey. He nodded and drank some of his tea. I rested my head on my arms, waiting for Niven to arrive. A few minutes pass and I finally hear a familiar voice.
"I thought you were close by." Grey asked Niven.
"So did I. I got lost though. I'm here now though. I'll just set my stuff down and quickly order." He put his bookbag in the chair next to mine before I grab his forearm.
"Here." I gave him my cheese danish. I was feeling nauseous so I decided it's best to give it to him. He gave me a little smile before Grey gave him a small note.
"I'll go get a drink." Niven grabbed the note and left the table. I looked at Grey curiously before putting my head back down. I felt someone poking my forearm when I looked up and saw Grey staring at me.
"What?" I asked.
"Why is your head down and why did you give him your danish?" He had a curious expression. I ignored his question and sat up. I crossed my arms across my chest, looking around the café. It was natural color themed, it had a few paintings hanging on the walls. I made eye contact with Grey, his eyes immediately brightening up as soon as I looked at him.
"I'm not hungry anymore so I decided to give him it." I finally answered his question. There was silence before Niven came back to the table. He had a coffee and a small bag in his other hand. He sat down next to Grey, putting the stuff on the table.
We spent the next half hour talking about school and when we think my mom and her little army is going to visit again. When we were on the topic, it reminded me of what happened to Peter and Clovis.
When we were younger, and I still lived with my parents I decided to be rebellious towards them as a joke. They did not appreciate it and my mother punished me, by punishing them...
"Vio, we have to go soon." Grey snapped his fingers. I stopped zoning out and looked at the time.
"Yeah, you guys can go ahead. I'll be there soon." We all stood up, but Grey grabbed my bookbag. I tried grabbing it from him but he kept moving it away from me. I felt a weird vibe, telling me to go home.
"We'll see you in sorcerers class." Grey and Niven walked out with my bag. I stared at them in disbelief. I cleaned up our table before quickly forming a portal to my apartment. I looked in my locked compartment for a particular book. When I finally found it, I saw a note in the beginning. It was the book Aria tried stealing from me.
"Olivine,
This note will be revealed once it believes you're ready and it's time. Your mothers plan has been growing dangerously fast. There are a few storm sorcerer spells where only you can handle them. They are dangerous for you and everyone surrounding you. However, these spells are the only ones who can possibly defeat your mother and father. Your Aunt gave you this book because I told her to. I'm your grandmother, I saw the future and you're the only hope. Please, choose wisely. I wish you luck, my darling. I wish I were here to see you save the world.
-Eleanor Viotto"
I looked through the books and found new pages, all written in a symbolic language. I looked for another book I received from Aunt Beth. It was some sort of dictionary and the symbolic language was the same. I spent the next few hours translating most of the pages, forgetting I had school. This book helped me come to the conclusion that she was working with my mother.
I heard my phone ringing so I put the books down, reaching for my phone.
"Where are you?" I heard Grey on the other line. I looked at the clock and sighed.
"I got caught up with something. I'm so sorry, I'll come by to get my bookbag." I got up off the couch and reached for the door. Once I opened it, I saw Grey.
"What are those books?" He looked behind me.
