Have y’all been waiting for us?

"Father, I arrived," announced Jacay entering the mansion.

"I'm glad son, come closer," the confused boy approached his father, he never called him.

"What happened, father?"

"Sit down please," he pointed to the armchair in front, where Jacay immediately sat, "I have spoken with the Minister, he said he has a daughter almost your age," this didn't give him a good feeling, "you will marry her."

"What?! But what are you talking about father" the young man exploded in a scream rising from his seat, "I will not marry her, I don't even know her."

"If that's what worries you, there is no problem. She will come the next week."

"That's not what I mean, I don't love her."

"Love?" His father almost burst out laughing, "I never said that this has to be for love."

"I am not going to marry her," the image of marrying someone else other than Equiline made him nauseous.

"You are of age, and if it is not with her who would it be?" Asked Mr. Verum calmly

"With Equiline," he admitted feeling that it was the right thing.

"That beggar?"

"She is not a beggar."

"She won't give you any status, she …"

"I love her," he drastically interrupted his father.

"You will marry the minister's daughter if you don't, forget that you are my son."

"Well, I don't need you, I never did. Not even when mother died."

"Don't bring her up," his father muttered annoyed.

"Did you not love her? Did you marry her because her status?"

"I said don't bring her up!" His father screamed.

"I am not going to marry her."

He decided to leave that place and look for Equiline, maybe she still stayed in the room of stars, maybe he could keep her ignorant of everything at least until all that was happening was a rumor.

Equiline was there, in front of the imposing Verum mansion, her tears threatened to come out again, and didn't help all the memories that came to her mind. She knocked the door, and maybe she may regret it after all that she was aiming for but there was no turning back.

"Miss Equiline, what brings you here?" Asked the butler, opening the door.

"Edwin, who is it?" She heard in the distance.

"Miss Equiline, mister Jacay," Equiline's heart aches when she heard his name.

"Equiline?" The boy looked at her confused, "you can go, Edwin."

"With your permission," he closed the door and they stood outside.

Equiline's tears could no longer be held back, the boy saw her alarmed but before he could even get closer to try to comfort her, a strong slap was thrown to his face.

"You lied to me," she screams hitting him in his chest.

"You know it, who told you?" It was the first time he saw her like this, she was so broken.

"Does that matter? You promised it," she said looking into his eyes, hoping it was all a dream.

"I never promised anything," it was not a dream, the pain was so real that it burned. "I didn't mean that I …"

"You said enough, Jacay," she had already heard enough to know that the only fool who had sworn love was her, never him.

"Equiline, wait," he tried to hold her, his chest hurt too.

"Don't touch me!" She shouted away, "Don't ever touch me again!"

"Equiline, listen to me, please" he was desperate, and the tears threatened to come out.

"Will you lie to me again?" Her eyes darkened; they lost their shine.

Equiline turned when she heard the wheels of a carriage. The carriage was beautiful, it stopped until it was in front of them, where the two guards who were leading it got out to open one of the doors. From it came a beautiful girl, dressed in a fine dress, combed, and groomed in a way that Equiline never will do it.

"Oh, have y'all been waiting for us?" The girl smiled in Jacay's direction, "I had wanted this to be a surprise, but I see that it wasn't like that."

"Excuse me, who are you?"

"I see, apparently it was a surprise" the young woman gave to Equiline a quick glance and then approached Jacay in a flirtatious way, "my name is Amiira, and I am your fiancée."
