Chapter 3 : Garden of Eden II

"Where are we and why am I here??"

Eliza asks while glancing around the wonderful scenery.

"This is the Garden of Eden and I brought you here to train you for what is to come."

Gabriel replies casually.

"OK, I will need for you to explain what you just said in details cause I don't think I follow."

Eliza remarks with Gabriel letting out a sigh.

"After your attack that nearly blew up the earth, I used the chaos that ensued to drag you out of there and bring you here for your own safety and also to train you."

Gabriel replies.

"Train me??... For what."

Eliza asks.

"Your power as I said before is dangerously powerful but it was giving to you for a purpose, which is to bring an end to this war."

Gabriel replies

"What??... End the war, how does my power help to do that?? And why exactly am I the one that gets to do that, I mean can't the Father just snap his fingers and everything is back to normal??"

Eliza asks in annoyance.

"It's not so simple, Eliza, the Father can't interfere in such a direct manner before the appointed time.

It would go against his word and as it is known, his word is absolute."

Gabriel replies while shaking his head.

"What the hell are you talking about??... So many people have died and he won't do anything all because his word are more important that the lives of his creation?? Is that what you are saying??"

Eliza asks as her anger continued to build.

"Be careful of the assumptions you make, else you be struck dead for your arrogant words."

Gabriel remarks in a thunderous voice.

"Threatening me like that won't change what I feel or what I've seen, people died in the most painful and gruesome way possible, Gabriel….

Six billion people are dead and instead of you to give an answer for why the Father didn't stop this a long time ago, you dare to threaten me with being struck dead."

Eliza remarks as her body begins to glow with her powers running wild due to the spike in her emotional state which in this case is as a result of anger overwhelming her.

Gabriel sees this and immediately moves in closer to hug her which calms her nerves.

"Be calm, Eliza.. Not only the Father, but the hearts of all angels break when we see the situation down on Earth. I cannot claim to know everything but I can tell you that we never abandoned humanity."

Gabriel remarks as he hugged Eliza tightly.

"Then why didn't he do anything??"

Eliza asks with tears forming in her eyes.

"Men, women and children slaughtered mercilessly by demons. Humanity has been driven to the brink of extinction and yet he had done nothing, how do you expect me to believe that he cares?"

Eliza asks amidst sobs

"He does and very much in fact but his words are absolute and so cannot do anything directly, even we angels weep as we see the death count everyday but to interfere ourselves would bring Armageddon too soon and that would surely spell the end of humanity for sure.

The Vulgate that I gave to the church then was meant to prevent this from happening but it ended up making a bigger hole.

When that happened, the Father immediately ordered me to get parts of the Vulgate and distribute amongst humans so that you guys would be able to defend yourself against the demon onslaught but even then you all reacted slowly and it ended up going badly for everyone involved.

I'm sorry that we couldn't be of much help to you, I'm really sorry."

Gabriel replies in a sad voice.

Golden Tears form in Gabriel's eyes as they fall on Eliza's shoulder causing her to retract from the hug and behold the tears of an angel.

"You're crying."

Eliza remarks as she stares at Gabriel's face.

"It would seem so."

Gabriel says as he flicks the tears from his cheeks, trying to regain his glorious smile.

"I guess we aren't so different after all, angels and humans I mean."

Eliza remarks trying to manage a smile.

"Maybe, maybe not… I'll let you decide for yourself."

Gabriel says as he puts his finger on Eliza's cheek and flicks her tears away.

"Thanks… tell me something.

What is the real reason that you guys up there decided to leave us to solve our own problems??"

Eliza asks as she calmed herself.

"The Father did not refuse neither did I say he can't interfere, if he didn't interfere do you think the war going on now would be possible.

The Father gave humanity a fighting chance when he provided the scriptures and holy grail to reinforce humanity's fight against the forces of hell."

Gabriel replies.

"But why go through all that when he could just snap his finger.

Why give us the weapons to fight without prior notice when he could have prevented the war altogether or even sent angels to protect us from the demons."

Eliza asks with a heightened curiosity.

"I'd rather not answer that question. it's rather sensitive."

Gabriel remarks with his palm placed behind his head.

"I'd really like you to answer me. I'd rather not leave here knowing that the Father abandoned us."

Eliza remarks with a sigh.

"Hmm, fine then."

Gabriel says with a complicated expression.

"Thanks."

Eliza says.

"Okay, I cannot claim to know the mind of the Father neither can i claim to understand his ways.

One thing I do know is that if Micheal and his angels had descended to the Mortal plain to do battle against the demon princes, it would have inadvertently caused Armageddon to take place."

Gabriel remarks as he rose to his feet.

"You make it sound like Armageddon happening is a really bad thing. Is it not better to end the demons once and for all??"

Eliza asks with a complicated expression.

"Under normal circumstances, Armageddon is the final event to mark the end of all things.

But if it were to happen prematurely, that end might be very unfavorable to both humans and angels alike."

Gabriel replies.

"I don't understand. the situation humanity is facing now is extremely unfavorable. what could be worse than more than half of humanity getting wiped out??"

Eliza asks with a raised brow.
