What Is On Your Mind, Chance?

Christian then chuckled when hearing Alyssum's statement. He knew that she liked his younger brother when they were kids. However, for Chance, she was a cute little sister which broke his heart.

And so, he ruffled her hair. She scoffed and glared at him but he just laughed and stood. Then, he offered a hand to help her to stand. She sighed and slowly, she wrapped her right hand around his and stood up.

"Don't think that much, you'll be crazy." He uttered.

"I know. Anyway, I'll come tonight." He nodded as his answer as they walked on a different path.

She strolled closer to the parking lot where her friend, Brenda was waiting for her. Her friend smiled widely when her eyes traveled in Alyssum's direction. She strides towards her friend's direction while shaking her head when she sees her smirking.

"Why?"

"I saw you with Christian. Why?" She asked.

She just sighed and shook her head as she answer. Then, she signed her to leave the premises. "You are being bossy, you know that," Brenda said, however, Alyssum just snickered at her before she stepped inside the car.

Then, Brenda started the engine and drove to their destination. After a while, Alyssum began to feel tedious so she opened the car window as the wind rushed through her pale face. She closed her eyes as she took a deep breath to inhale the fresh air.

And when, slowly, she opened her eyes, she gasped as her eyes widened when her eyes gazed at Chance, who was with someone else. Her brow frowned as she scoffed when he's with Miranda. She shook her head in disbelief when he suddenly accepted her offer.

She knew that Miranda was always asking him out, dating her, and as Chance always rejected her offer. And now, she reckoned that Chance was tired of her, asking him out every single day. She just heaved a deep, heavy sigh when thinking that he never accepted her offer when she wanted to hang out with him.

Knowing that they were best friends since childhood. They were inseparable until their parents wanted them to have an arranged marriage when they got older which made Alyssum very happy, delighted.

So she promised herself that wherever he went, she would follow him. It's a promise that she didn't want to break. Like, it's an unbreakable promise between her mind and heart.

"Are you okay?" Brenda asked without looking at her. She just sighed and shook her head with her eyes focused outside the car window.

Then, she glanced at her friend and said, "I can't believe that Chance accepted her offer. Like why?"

"You know that Chance didn't want to be bothered so he accepted it to shut her up. It's just one date. Don't worry."

"It'll not be just one date, I'm telling you. It'll have a lot of dates. Miranda is not giving up to get his attention." She uttered.

Brenda just shook her head, thinking that her friend was being hysterical. She knew that she's worried about Chance but he's a grown-up man and he had decisions. And so, Brenda glanced at her friend, who was worried sick to Chance. She smiled and looked back to the road.

"Just relax, Aly. You know you have dinner with them."

She nodded and leaned closer to the car window. After an hour of travel, they reached the mall. They walked out of the car as they strolled inside the mall. Her eyes wandered around when they entered the department store. She grabbed her friend's hand and pointed at the women's section.

Brenda, on the other hand, just nodded and followed whenever she wanted to go. Hence, Aly stopped by the dress section and started to look for a dress that she will wear for tonight's dinner.

"Do you think it's good?" She asked while holding the plain nude dress.

However, Brenda disapproved of the dress. It was too revealing and not suitable for her age. "Just a simple dress will do."

"Okay."

Then, she started grabbing the dress that she could see. After that, she tried it one by one but Brenda didn't like it. Some of the dresses were too revealing and most of them were very plain and it didn't look good so she helped her to grab a simple v-neck long sleeve flower-designed dress. Alyssum smiled at her friend's taste of fashion. So she took it from her hand and tried the dress.

She strived the dress and smiled at herself when it was good for her petite body. Then, she opened the dressing room's door to show it to her. Brenda smiled and nodded. She stepped in and removed the dress.

Thereafter, they grabbed one-inch heels to match her dress before they strode to the counter and made a payment for their purchases. "I'm hungry. Do you want to eat?" Brenda asked her.

After that, they left the mall as Benda drove to Alyssum's mansion to get ready. When they got back to the mansion, they walked straight to her room and hung out for a while, talking about boys like a typical teenager.

"Do you think he's cute?" She asked while pointing at Alyssum's computer but she wasn't interested.

She just shrugged while staring at the sunset. But all of a sudden, she remembered the memories of her and Chance where they were always watching the sunset in his garden when they were little. They didn't miss a moment to stare at the sunset until the moon rose.

The moment the moon rose, she realized that her heart thumped vigorously while her eyes focused on Chance, who's very focused on the sunrise. For her, that was the best moment they had before.

She heaved a deep, heavy sigh when Chance abruptly accepted her offer, forcibly. She knew that he didn't like it.

'What is on your mind, Chance?'
