Keeping Watch

When morning came, Apryl wasn't ready to go to classes since she had hardly gotten any sleep. Any time she heard something or there was sudden movement it would wake her up again. The call from Houston that Chester connected her with didn't help all that much either.

What exactly was he going to do and could he actually help them? That was what she was concerned about. That werewolf hadn't actually even asked her for a photo, so did he even know what Brian looked like? Chester hadn't even met him so even if he could tell him some of the things that were going but not who to watch out for.

Apryl spent twice as long in the shower to try and help wake up herself up so that she could get to class. Even if she didn't want to go, she knew that everyone would worry more if she didn't show up. Callum had already blown up her phone after he had woken up and seen the conversation that had taken place while he was asleep.

Brian appeared to have left for work or whatever he was doing so she felt slightly better since only her aunt was at the house by the time that she was ready to leave. She wasn't telling Lydia anything though because she only mildly trusted her not to to tell her mate anything or ask him too many questions that would let him know something was going on.

Once she had left the house, her senses suddenly went on high alert again when she realized there was the scent of an unfamiliar werewolf nearby. She couldn't see anyone at first which made her worry more about her family. She didn't think that anyone aside from her, her mother, sisters, Brian, and Lydia knew how to undo the lock, but the hair on the back of her neck stood on end as she walked away from the house looking to see where the unfamiliar person might be hiding.

"Apryl I take it?" She didn't have to look far before someone stepped away from the side of the house that she couldn't quite see. He was a rather tall man who was dressed down in sweats and a t-shirt with an open jacket. He also wore glasses and was looking around as though he was worried about something.

"Who are you?" Apryl asked rather asking his question, not sure that she should give him any identifiable information before she found out who he was.

"We talked on the phone last night. Houston?" He told her as he held out his hand for her to shake.

"Do you mind if we step to the side?" He asked as motioned with his head back to the side of the house that he had been hiding at originally. It was a bit out of the way so there was little risk of anyone spotting them. She followed him rather hesitantly since she didn't know much about him and he seemed on the rather large and bulky side for a werewolf in human form which meant he probably had a fair amount of strength.

"I'm sorry that I couldn't tell you much last night, it isn't safe to give away too much information over the phone for various reasons. Now though, I can talk to you a little bit about what's going to go on." Houston told her once he was certain that they were hidden from sight and there was no one around to listen to what they had to talk about.

"So what exactly is going to go on?" Apryl asked as she crossed her arms over her chest and looked over her shoulder. Being so tired made her so much more on edge than she usually was. She needed something that would help her to wake up.

"So I can't technically do a lot right now except for observation and try to find evidence that indicates he is doing something that could get him arrested or deported from this area." Houston explained.

"In order to do that, I will be keeping an eye on him as much as possible. I have a partner that will be helping with this as well as I believe it is important to keep someone hidden near the house while someone tails him during the day." He continued.

"Someone would be staying around here? Isn't that little dangerous and obvious to get noticed?" Apryl asked confused. The house was located a little bit out of the way, but there wasn't much in terms of cover or places to stay out of the way.

"Yes. Since we don't know exactly what he's going to plan, it would be better to handle it that way. It shouldn't be dangerous as there are a number of ways to do it without getting found out."

"He's rather neurotic though, I don't think he wouldn't miss the fact that there's the scent of an unfamiliar werewolf in the area even if you try to keep it on the downlow." Apryl explained, still feeling doubtful that what Houston was saying would work.

"We do have ways to take care of that as well though it is good to know that he is on guard. We can work around that in various ways. I suppose you've never seen this before?" Houston asked as he showed her a bottle. She tried to read the label that was on it but it had too many words that she wasn't that familiar with.

"It is a pill that has been formed to help mask werewolf scents. Taking this makes it so that other werewolves won't be able to detect your scent or even know you're there. It can works for wolves always." He explained as he put the bottle back.

"Such things actually exist? Is it possible for anyone to get a hold of it?" Apryl asked, her mind already working on that would be useful with helping to get her family moved without Brian being able to know that Chester, Callum, and Keith had come around again.

"If you need it, I can see what I can do. Right now, the important thing to do is to keep watch on what is going to go on and see if we can catch him doing something that he can be indicted for." Houston replied.

"If we can't do that soon, we will shift to helping you take care of your family." He added on. Apryl wasn't convinced it was the the best option, but Houston seemed confident in being able to get something against Brian.
