Ethan used the shocked state of the monsters over losing their companion to his advantage and killed two more monsters. He knew that these monsters will be distracted at least for a brief second and this brief second distraction could be used to his advantage.
Ethan didn't do anything shabby. He just took his action based on psychological behaviour of any creature during the shocked moment over losing their companions and reduced the overall number of opponents he needed to face.
At the beginning, he had to face 26 monsters. He killed all of them using sneak attacks and reduced his targets to 6. Only then these monsters sensed something wrong and stayed united and finally found him. But Ethan completely depended on the psychological behaviour of any creature when they lose their loved ones to his advantage and killed three of them.
Of course, his upgraded agility also played the key role. If he didn't have that kind of agility, then things would have been much more difficult for him. He might have even died in their hands.
Three more monsters remaining! Ethan counted within his heart. He finally found an opening and escaped from their encirclement. He immediately used his upgraded agility once again and maintained some distance between himself and those two monsters.
Of course, he could have used the psychological behaviour of those monsters to his advantage and killed the remaining monsters. But after what happened so far, even these inexperienced monsters will stay alert. So he didn't let the remaining number to his head and maintained distance between himself and those remaining three monsters immediately.
And sure enough. As soon as he maintained distance, he saw that these monsters started to attack blindly 360° to their surroundings. They knew that their eyes couldn't keep up with them. So they started to attack around their surroundings blindly.
But these poor monsters didn't know that Ethan predicted this outcome and instead of attacking them, he widened the distance between himself and those remaining monsters. If Ethan was greedy and attacked another monster, then he would have been in a serious trouble.
Ethan looked at the three remaining monsters. He took a deep breath and turned back. Without looking back, he ran swiftly. The three monsters who were glaring at Ethan angrily didn't expect this. They were dumbstruck for a split moment. After finding that the distance between them is widening, they snapped back to the reality and followed Ethan.
From time to time, Ethan looked back and noticed their positions. He was waiting for a perfect opportunity and timing to counter attack them. He knew that he couldn't pull 1v3 with his small amount of experience in combat.
He waited. From time to time he turned back and looked at the positions of these monsters who were chasing him. He intentionally didn't run quickly. If he wanted to escape, then he could have done it easily.
But that wasn't his intentions to begin with. He had only one thing in his mind. And that is to kill these three monsters before he could look for the Spirit God's inheritance.
After running for a while, he finally found the opportunity he was waiting for. He found that one among the rest of the three monsters were ahead of other monsters. Ethan slowed his running pace and intentionally shrink the distance between himself and that monster.
The poor monster got excited. It felt that the distance between if and it's prey is shrinking. If this continues, then the distance between the two of them will shrink completely and it could take revenge on for the death of it's companions.
The distance between them finally narrowed down. The monster felt that Ethan is finally in it's attack range. The monster gave a cold smile while looking at Ethan's back. After all, he killed their companions. Why would it show mercy to this ruthless killer?
But just as it was about to attack Ethan, to it's dismay, Ethan suddenly disappeared from it's sight. All the three monsters were shocked and frenziedly started to figure his location.
But before even they could start, the monster which almost caught Ethan heard 'thud' sound. It came from it's back. The monster shuddered and looked back with horror filled face
That poor monster almost lost it's balance from what it had seen. Ethan was silently standing not far from it. His blood stained sword was tightly gripped in his hands. But the most painful part is, it's two remaining companions were lying on the ground lifeless. Their heads were separated from their necks.
These monsters had poor cultivation base. Their intelligence is very low. So it failed to figure out that Ethan once again used the psychological warfare. When that monster which was about to catch him, the remaining two monsters subconsciously relaxed. Even though they were under the impression that they were cautious, in their subconsciousness, they were relaxed.
Ethan used this point to his advantage and killed the two monsters by once again using his upgraded agility. He placed importance on the his major disadvantage. And his major disadvantage is he was outnumbered.
But now he managed to convert that disadvantage into an even battle. Right now the battle situation is 1v1 which is easy for him to handle with a little time to take breath.

'Both of them were at 5th Level of Elementary Stage? No wonder why they managed to keep up the same pace while chasing me. If that is the case, then this remaining monster might also has the same cultivation base.'
When Ethan thought up to this point, he looked at the remaining monster who was on it's knees. Ethan was not a cold blooded monster. He was from earth where killing was not common unlike in the cultivation world. So he felt sorry for this monster.
So he didn't waste time and let this remaining monster feel despair. He gave this remaining monster a swift death which was confirmed by the system.

Sure enough! This lo monster was also at the 5th Level of Elementary Stage. Ethan confirmed his suspicion.
ROOOAAARRRRR!!!
Just as Ethan wanted to relax, he heard a roar which was much higher and mightier than the 26 monsters he killed not long ago.
"Now what?" ,Ethan thought to himself. He had a bad feeling about this.
