A Sleeping Monster

Ethan walked towards the building's entrance. It was unfair to say that he was not nervous. He is extremely nervous. The fear of the unknown is scary. It was an even bigger case for someone like Ethan who came from a world where killing others for their selfish gain was not at all appreciated.

He moved cautiously and suddenly stopped. Because at the entrance of the majestic building, he found a monster which was in a deep sleep. Ethan didn't know why, but he felt a sense of danger coming from this monster.

Ethan doesn't want to fight this monster. He already had the experience of fighting a monster. And he knew that he can't afford to fight this monster right now. Because fighting a monster will lead to damaging his Spirit. If his Spirit suffers from minor or major damage, then he had to find the Spirit Pool once again.

He can't afford to do that. So he decided to get away as far away as possible from this monster. Because his senses told him that this monster is even stronger than the giant monster he faced three days ago.

He cautiously moved towards the entrance. He made sure to minimize the sound coming from his footsteps. He even concealed his breathing afraid that his breathing might wake the monster up.

He slowly and steadily walked closer to the entrance. He felt a little relaxed as he managed to reach out the entrance. At least, he doesn't need to fight this monster who has the strength whose' probably surpassed even the Giant Monster.

DUM! DUM! DUM!

But just as he was about to set his foot inside the entrance, Ethan was jolted. Because out of nowhere, he started to hear a bell sound. Ethan subconsciously looked around, but couldn't find anything. He then looked at the sleeping monster. He was scared shit to see that the monster has already opened its eyes.

Ethan's heart started to beat heavily. He didn't waste time and immediately dashed inside the mansion. But before he could even set his foot inside the mansion, he sensed danger. And before even he could do anything, something hit him on his stomach. Ethan flew backward and fell around 50m away from the mansion's entrance.

Ethan fell to the ground and coughed out a mouthful of blood. His eyes became bloody red out of both anger and fear. He stood up and found that that monster who was sleeping earlier actually stood up and started to guard the entrance.

The aura coming from that monster was so intense and terrifying that it almost suppressed all of Ethan's movements. Earlier the monster was sleeping. So he didn't see its eyes. But now that he looked at that monster's eyes, he found that its pupils were red. The way it looked gave a terrifying feeling for anyone who looks into its eyes.

HP: -70

Ethan was stunned by his health drop rate. He was just an Elementary Stage Cultivator. How could he guard just a casual attack from a monster that is stronger than him? He expected that this monster's attack will be a troublesome one. But he never imagined that just one casual attack would cause him to lose 70 HP. It's close to 50% of his total HP.

Ethan knew that since there is no going back, he had to take this monster even more seriously than when he dealt with that giant monster. That giant monster was very tough to deal with. But this monster is even tougher than the giant monster.

This monster is not that huge like that giant monster. But its strength is even stronger than that giant monster. He then looked above its head where the System gave a detailed explanation about this monster.

[Name - Novulla]

[Species - Volgo Race]

[Cultivation base - 3rd Level of Spirit Awakening Stage]

3rd Level of Spirit Awakening Stage! When he faced that giant monster, he almost lost his life. With great difficulty, he managed to defeat that giant monster somehow.

But this monster is even stronger than that giant monster. What's more, this monster is stronger than that giant monster by two minor levels. He almost died fighting that giant monster. Then, doesn't this mean that his death is guaranteed if he had to face this monster?

'V' Ranked Mission!

He suddenly remembered the difficulty level of the mission issued by the System. As a gamer, he understood how difficult it is to complete a 'V' ranked mission. But that was in the game. And this is the reality. Even though he was the only person who completed a 'V' Ranked mission back in the game, the game and the reality have too many differences.

In the game, if a player's character died, then they can roll back and resume their game as long as they paid the penalty. Of course, their mission will be over forever and they could no longer take that particular 'V' ranked mission. If they wanted to find another 'V' ranked mission, then their luck should be very high. Only then, they will have any chance of accepting a 'V' Ranked Mission.

But here, there is no way he's going to revive if he died once. If he died once, then it is a complete game over. There is no way the System will bring him back to life. No matter how magical the system is, there is no way it will have the ability to bring him back to life.

And there is no way he's getting away from this. Then he will have only one option left with him. And that is to defeat this monster at any cost. After making up his mind, he looked at the monster once again. Since this is a do-or-die battle, there is no way he is going to be afraid of anything. If he died, then no one will cry for him. No one will know that he died. So, it's better to be brave and face the disaster.

He knew that those bell sounds which he heard just now were kind of an alarm. He was careless. There is some kind of array that was programmed to ring and wake this damn monster up if someone tried to enter inside the mansion. If he knew this, then he would have deactivated that array through the System's help. If he had done that, then there is no way this monster would have been awakened right now. And he would have stayed away from his current crisis.

But it's too late to regret now. Even though he had the System, he failed to take its advantage. And now he is facing the consequences for his carelessness.

He determined to kill this monster. Or he will perish in its hands. This is the only choice he had with him right now. And this is the only way he could make up for his carelessness.
