Chopping The Monster’s Tail

Ethan took out his sword from the inventory. He didn't rashly march towards the monster. He just waited for it to attack. He is waiting for it to make the first move.

Earlier when the monster was sleeping, he didn't notice it properly. But now that he saw it more clearly, he realized something. This monster is even shorter than him.

But its cultivation is what made it a terrifying existence for Ethan with his current strength. If he was at least in the Ninth Level of Elementary Stage, then he could somehow manage it. But he knew that he can't manage anything with his current strength. All he could do is face it and somehow defeat it.

But no matter how much he waited for the monster to take the initiative to attack him, it didn't attack him. It just stood at the entrance guarding it. It didn't move an inch. It just stood there whirling its tail here and there.

Ethan became impatient. He lifted his sword and rushed towards the monster. And just as he approached its vicinity and felt that the distance is good enough to attack it, he didn't waste time and attempted to chop its head.

But before even he could pull his sword down to attack it, that monster's tail came at a lightning speed and attacked him. Ethan didn't see this coming. So he didn't put his guard up against this tail attack possibility. He once again flew back and fell once again 50m away from the entrance.

After coughing another mouthful of blood, he stood up. His body was aching in pain. But he didn't let that pain bother him. He already killed a Physique Strengthening Stage monster while at the Elementary Stage. So he knew that this monster is killable. But killing is not as easy as one could say with Ethan's cultivation levels.

Firstly, Ethan's physical attributes were enhanced thanks to the help from the System. And he managed to kill all those monsters with his small 0% experience in combats for which he gave the credit to the System. He even went and managed to kill the giant monster thanks to his upgraded physical attributes.

So Ethan believed that this monster is also killable with his current strength. Of course, he had to work very hard to achieve that. He might even lose his life in the process. Attempting to kill something that is a major realm higher than his own is a crazy thought. If others heard about it, then they will laugh at Ethan calling him a mad person.

But their physical attributes were not enhanced as Ethan's. They don't have any System with them. So it is impossible to kill a Physique Strengthening Stage expert while being in the Elementary Stage. So they might think Ethan's thoughts were not any less than crazy.

Right now, Ethan got up. He once again looked at the monster. He paid close attention to its tail. He remembered it very clearly. When he was about to set foot in the mansion, the bells rang and woke this monster up. At that time, he failed to notice. But something hit him on his stomach which threw him around 50m away from the entrance. He didn't know what exactly hit him. But now he does. It was this very tail that hit and prevented him from entering the room.

If this monster's tail itself is this strong, then what about its fist? What if it gets serious? Ethan felt that he shouldn't underestimate this damn monster. He felt that he didn't underestimate it. But now he understood that his level of underestimation was small.

He rushed towards the monster once again. But this time he didn't move rashly. He moved towards it cautiously. He doesn't want to be careless and he paid close attention to the monster's tail. He could understand that this monster could use the tail for any surprise attack.

As he reached the point where he could perform his attack, he stopped and attacked it. He used his sword to perform a nice 'chop' at its neck.

He thought that the monster will evade. But to his surprise, the monster didn't even move an inch. It stood in front of the entrance without moving. Ethan failed to understand its line of thoughts. He was from earth. And he doesn't have any experience in battles. So he doesn't have any expertise in the battles. All he could do it to slowly build up experience for any future battles.

Ethan paid close attention to the monster's tail while his sword was in attacking motion. Sure enough, the monster once again moved its tail towards Ethan. Ethan doesn't want to fall to the same trick again. So he shifted his sword's attack trajectory. He chopped downwards.

The monster widened its eyes in shock. Before it could process and pull its tail back, Ethan's sword was already close to its tail. Before it could pull its tail back, Ethan successfully landed his attack and chopped the monster's tail.

"SCREECCHHHHH!!!"

The monster howled in pain. It was careless as it underestimated Ethan for his weak cultivation base. Moreover, it felt confident as both its previous casual attacks sent him flying. So it became both careless and arrogant.

Ethan once again used psychological warfare. He didn't let the monster relax. Or he didn't enjoy his small success. For better results, one had to hit the iron while it is hot. So he took the advantage of the monster's distraction out of pain and performed another chop. This time, the chop was directed towards the monster's neck. Since the tail is no longer in the active state, he could simply chop its neck and end it before it could get back to reality.

But Ethan still underestimated the monster's state of awareness. Before his sword could land on the monster's neck, the monster swiftly moved two steps back. Unfortunately, Ethan's sword hit nothing but the thin air.

Ethan understood that he failed. This monster quickly came back to its senses. So he didn't let his failure take over his head. He doesn't want the monster to relax. It was fighting with pain and anger. It probably lost its rational and cool thinking. He had to use this opportunity to attack the monster relentlessly.

As soon as the monster evaded his attack, Ethan came back to his senses from his shock of failure and immediately dashed towards the monster and made sure that the gap between them is not widening.

He kept on attacking with all his strength. His Strength Attribute, Speed Attribute, and Agility Attribute was working at their limit.

But he had a feeling that this won't be enough. He didn't know why, but he felt as if he is falling into the monster's trap.
