A PERFECT CRIME

The child began to open the cabinet underneath the sink. Eva closed her eyes tightly as she heard the cabinet next to where she was hiding, made a sound.

"She's not here either. Hmm, I didn't know you were this good at hiding Eva. Where are you?" The child asked in a low voice, that it could almost turn into a whisper.

Eva's eyes widened as her breathing abruptly hitched. She gasped for air when she saw the door of the cabinet where she was hiding getting slowly, opened.

A loud noise suddenly can be heard in the living room. With that, the cabinet's door stopped opening. Eva could not breathe properly, for fear that she would be discovered.

"Hihihi!" the child laughed as she released her grip from the cabinet's door that she was holding. Slowly, she took a step backward, going where the noise was coming from. "Eva, are you here?"

Eva wanted so badly to go into their room and wake Mike up, but she knows there was nothing she can do. Because of the sleeping pills, the man would wake up tomorrow. She was regretting her decision already.

She didn't know that this thing was going to happen! Will she die, just like her brother?! Now her question about what really happened to the brother has been answered.

Carefully, she opened the door. She was having trouble as she didn't want it to create a sound. Eva could still hear Adrianne's voice in the living room. She took the opportunity to get away. She took the car key from its hanger, exiting the house from the kitchen door.

She quickly ran and unlocked the car. The car gave a loud beep that startled her. She was getting nervous, knowing that the child must have heard the sound. She quickly opened the door of the van and went inside.

Inserting the key, she closed her eyes and prayed for her safety.

When the headlights turned on, Eva almost jumped at the seat. Abigail was in there, standing and looking straightly at her.

"I finally saw you, Auntie Eva!" Abigail said happily, pointing at her.

She immediately stepped on the accelerator. The car sped towards Abigail. But suddenly the child jumped up to Eva's surprise. She heard a loud crashing on the roof of the car.

Out of fear and confusion, Eva did not notice where her car was going. It went in the right direction, where the lake is located at.

Abigail jumped on the wooden floor and watched the car sink into the depths of the water. Mike will surely wonder where the car and where his wife was. The edges of her mouth quirked.

That's even better. Surely it would make sense for Eva to leave with the car. And because of that, they will surely wait for Eva's return. They will stay in this place longer and Adrianne will gain more energy. She applauded herself. What happened was in line with her luck.

"AAAALAHHHH!!!"

Adrianne was surprised when Eva's head suddenly appeared from the water. She's not dead yet! She laughed at the woman's miserable look.

"Have mercy ... I'm pregnant!" crying, Eva said. "Abigail, I'm sorry!"

"Didn't you say that I'm a demon? Hmm, I really am now that I didn't feel any pity for you."

"My baby is innocent ..." Eva said shaking. Her voice growled. "Have mercy, Abigail. I'm sorry… I'm very sorry... don't kill us. I-I won't bother you anymore. I won't say anything to Mike as well..."

Adrianne deeply sighed as she sat on the edge of the wooden floor. Moving her head forward, she looked closely at the woman in the water. Suddenly Abigail's face softened as she looked at Eva. Because of that, the woman was given hope.

"When Abigail drowned, did you help her?" the child's cold voice, sent shivered through her spine.

Eva's face suddenly turned pale. She remembered that day. She just watched Abigail as the water ate her, even though the child begged her to save her. Abigail had a hard time fighting with water in order to get up. In those days, Eva had only one thing in mind; it's to hasten her demise more.

And now… she was in the same situation. She, in turn, was begging Abigail She was in the water, trying to save herself from the possible death.

Eva's body shivered as her eyes pooled with tears, looking at Abigail.

"P-please... have mercy..."

"You've attempted to take Abigail's life multiple times already. Over and over again. Do you feel sorry for her?" It's a tough question for her.

Abigail's eyes gave a strange gleam. Her demeanor suddenly changed. A child's cold look and voice that can only come from someone with a lot of life experiences.

In her eyes, Eva saw herself. "I-I won't do it again… Please, I beg you… Not my baby... She's innocent."

"The baby in your womb was already dead, Eva. He died earlier when the car sank in the water."

"No! What are you trying to say?! M-My son..."

"Dahona-Vela," Adrianne uttered coldly. She's already done— done playing with the woma.

Several plants from under the water enveloped Eva's feet, slowly pulling her down.

"AAAAAHHHH !!! Abigail!!! Have pity on me!"

Abigail smiled sweetly. "Auntie Eva don't worry. I will make sure Daddy forgets about you right away."

"I can find a woman who was more suited for him. Not one like you, Auntie. So... bye-bye! Say hello to Uncle Erick, for me. " One of her hands waved as if saying goodbye to her playmate. The girl's face was full of innocence.

"ABIGAIL!!" Eva shouted as her body slowly sank due to the plants overflowing her. "Mike!! Abigail!!! Help!!!!"

Eva's face sank. Her hands were raised high up as if looking for something to hold on to. Her action was desperate but eventually, the woman also sank completely into the water.

Soon, peace returned to the lake as if nothing had happened. She made sure that the car and Eva's bodies were at the very bottom of the water.

Adrianne looked at the rising sun. A very nice way to start the morning, Eva is no longer in the world. Abigail was definitely happy with where she was right now. She shrugged. Now that she had made her promise to the child, she can move freely already.

And as for Mike, he wouldn't think she had anything to do with it. She was just a kid. What can she possibly do with the loss of the car and Mike's wife? Adrianne thought, 'Let's see what happens next.'
