LOOKING AT THE PAST

"What happened to you, Abigail? Are you alright?"

Adrianne was looking in front to focus when suddenly, Irene called for her attention.

"I'm alright," Adrianne answered.

They were waiting for their teacher to come to their class. It's their first day with the training for the examination that will happen. As if she needed it, anyways.

Hearing what Abigail had answered, Irene sat on her chair still looking at her friend. She wonders why the girl was always quiet. Abigail was always listening in the class, not mind them. It was rare for her to see the girl talking.

"Aren't you excited, Abigail?" Irene asked with joy in her voice.

Expecting that Abigail would answer her with a thrill, the latter just shrugged her shoulders and opened her notebook to write something. Sighing out of disappointment, Irene leaned over to the chair.

Adrianne on the other hand drew something out of boredness. It was a crown— her past crown. A golden jewel featuring rubies and diamonds as the stones delicately and elegantly decorated with its arc.

"Good afternoon class," Mrs. Belva entered the room with a huge smile coming on her face.

The students stood up including Adrianne who had to fix her things first. They greeted the teacher with a smile on their face.

"I know that you all are excited about our first session. But, first, I need to let you know the basics first. This would surely help you to gain more focus." The woman announced making the students anticipate what she will say more.

"Now I need you guys to move your chairs on the side. After that, create a big circle in the middle." She commanded before clapping her hands.

The students followed their teacher's order. One by one they stood up, pulling their chairs into one side. They then went in the middle to form a circle.

Adrianne's lips quirked hearing what the woman had said. They would surely do the most basic part of the training. It was to concentrate in order to feel the energy around them. But then, the children's energy would surely be weak. After all, they still haven't tasted any blood to activate their vampire manners.

Except for her, she already drank blood. It was from a middle-aged beox that she encountered in the forest.

That was what made her question. Why does the school, still haven't given them any blood to drink? Because if they really wanted to make the students tougher and more powerful, then that was the first step. Hmm, it seems like they have another plan.

"Breath in… Breath out… Breath in… Breath out…"

Rolling her eyes, Adrianne followed what Mrs. Belva was instructing them to do. They were doing this step for a minute already.

"Sit on the floor and close your eyes. After that, hold each other's hand. You all need to let your energy flow around you."

Just like that, the students all sat down on the floor. Adrianne closed her eyes as Irene and another person hold her hand. She almost chuckled, feeling the coldness of Kylo's hand, the person on her left.

"Now close your eyes, concentrate and let the energy flow around you." Mrs. Belva uttered.

The woman closed the windows and the door. Not allowing any light to come in the room. A black candle was lighted up in the middle. A special candle that can only be put out with strong energy. And in the room, it was only Mrs. Belva, who can put out the fire.

Adrianne felt the darkness surrounding her. Erasing all her thoughts, she felt a warm thing in front of her. Until she opened her eyes, it was the time of her death. The time that everyone was burning her.

But it was different this time, she can only watch what happened in the past. Why did she come back here? Adrianne asked herself.

She can hear the people cursing her to death. While the woman in the middle portraying as her was laughing. Until she saw an arrow flashing towards her old body.

She was about to run in the direction of the arrow when suddenly, everything became a blur.

"HELP!!!"

Adrianne was startled by the sudden voice that echoed through her ears. She saw three people in a room.

A man was lying down on the floor covered with blood. A woman wearing a ripped black dress in the middle was carrying a knife in her hands. While a girl in her teens was continuously crying in a corner.

It was Adrianne with her parents. It was the day they died, while the young Adrianne couldn't help any of them.

"Run, Adrianne. Run, and promise mommy that you would save yourself." That was the last thing the old woman said. Evelina, the woman, smiled before pointing the knife to her stomach.

"NOOOO!"

Mrs. Belva got alarmed when a sudden shout took place. The lights suddenly flickered. The closed window suddenly crashed, and in a short period of time, the room looks like it came from a battle.

With how the chairs moved, the students panicked opening their eyes. Nervousness surrounds them when a cold atmosphere surrounds the place.

"WHAT IS HAPPENING?" A girl asked in panic quickly standing up from sitting.

Some students were shocked to see the chairs moving. With the lights flickering and how the shattered glasses of the windows shattered. Hearing a sudden loud bang from the door, the students who were remained sitting opened their eyes.

Mrs. Belva looked around to see if every student was alright. But her eyes stopped into someone. It was a girl sitting in the middle with her own eyes.

Her breathing hitched when the kid slowly opened her eyes. What shocked her the most was everything stopped, including the candle in the middle. Who she said was impossible to put out.
