Demon-Assisted Weaponry

At the halfway mark five hours into the drive, Tomas Dole stopped in the middle of nowhere and called a break time so we could get out and stretch our legs and to eat something.

The refrigerator was stuffed with containers of food from the hotel so I heated everything and served everyone our late lunches.

Everyone ate except for Connor who was still in bed.  He had not quite graduated from soft foods yet so as the attending physician, Vera took care of his feeding needs while we ate.

I wanted to assist her with the care and feeding of Connor, but she reminded me that there was another twin who was also still healing and it was my job to make sure Corwin ate his meal.

"You're not leaving your vegetables, are you?"  I prodded.

"I don't like these little sprout cabbages."

"They are good for your body."

"But I don't like these tiny cabbages…"

"Honeybun—just eat them."
