“Impossible.” Emily uttered, “Are you telling me, we’ve been played by some other demon party into attacking you?”
“Yes.” Lia replied, “that’s what we believe.”
Lia clapped her hands as all the demons in the throne room merged with the shadows and vanished. Light shone inside the room and Emily finally saw the faces of death, however they seemed less terrifying. Livia had undone the rope around her, bowed to the one on the throne and left. Emily was confused as to what was happening.
“You seem confused.” Lia said to her.
“No kidding.” Emily replied.
Lia exhaled, “You know, if we wished for the extermination of humankind, we wouldn’t have taken a few citizens. We’d eradicate everyone in one fell swoop.”
“What are you getting at?” Emily asked her.
“If,” Sargon began to speak, “Something is indeed forcing us to exterminate one another, why not cooperate and stand against the anonymous being?”
