Different.

Jaxon's POV.

...

"Hey dude, did you watch the new episode of AOT?" Austin asks beside me.

We are currently at the field, doing nothing and just talking about random things.

"Yeah I did. Did you watch the part when-" I stop when I hear laughter.

Scratch that,

Her laughter.

The first time I heard it, I knew I was hooked.

I turn to where her laughter's coming from and I see her.

With Chelsea of course.

"Did you know he actually-" I really couldn't hear what they were saying but I saw her laugh again which automatically made me smile.

"Hey dude what you looking at?" I turn back to Austin and I shrug.

"Isn't that Chelsea over there?" I nod to where the girls were.

Austin looks towards their direction and smiles.

"You're right." He says. "Hey Chelsea!" He shouts and the two friends turn their heads towards our direction.

Austin waves and Chelsea smiles. She hurries towards us while Summer trails behind her.

"Hey Jaxon." Chelsea greets me.

"Hi." I leave the couple alone and walked towards Summer.

"Hey."

"Hi."

She smiles which makes me smile.

"Um. Sorry about the other day." I apologise.

I felt bad for leaving her. Taylor had told me it was an emergency only for me to get home and find out she needed me to find a dress for her date.

"No, it's fine."

"It's just that-" I try to explain but she interuppts.

"I get it. Well, I don't get it get it because I'm the only child, but it's cool." She shrugs it off.

"At least let me make it up to you." I plead. I really felt bad for leaving her.

"It's fine. Trust me."

"Something in those eyes tells me not to trust you." She laughs.

"Well don't mind my eyes." She chuckles.

She looked different today. Her eyes were dull, and it was like she was trying hard to smile.

I don't know what it is but something felt off about her.

"Hey you okay?" My smile drops and concern takes over.

"I'm fine." She nods.

"You sure? You look different. Tired." I move to touch her forehead but she moves back.

Okay?

"I'm sorry." She quickly apologizes and looks down.

"No need to say that. If anything's wrong, you can tell me okay?" I say and she nods.

"Heyo peeps!" Austin calls us and I look back. "We are going for pizza after school. Wanna join?" He asks us and I look at Hathaway before looking at Austin.

"Nah. Hathaway's feeling a little tired so I'm gonna give her a ride home."

"Summer you alright?" Chelsea asks and I hear the concern in her voice.

"Yeah I'm good." She clears her throat. "Just a little tired."

"You sure?"

"I'm sure." Chelsea nods and Austin and her both walk back inside leaving Summer and I alone.

"You know I don't buy it." I blurt out and she looks at me confused.

"What do you mean?"

"You saying nothing's wrong and you're just tired, I don't buy it." She stays quiet. "It's actually okay if you don't want to say what's up but just know Jaxon Prinston is here for you okay?" She smiles and nods.

"I'll make sure Summer Hathaway gets that."

"Good."

.....

Summer's POV.

You really don't have to do this." I say for the billionth time.

"I want to. And besides, take it as repayment for ditching you the other day."

"But-"

"It's cool Hathaway." He interuppts me and I sigh.

Here I am, sitting in his car and him, driving me home. I had tried to tell him I could take the bus, but he didn't listen.

I had a nightmare last night. It was different than the other ones.

This one felt more vivid, more real. I could feel the pain she was feeling.

So I had told my mom to drop me off at school on her way to work. It wasn't her route, but she still dropped me off.

I put on a brave face and smile so that no one would notice and worry and it had worked.

But he still noticed. I was hoping he wouldn't, but he still did.

And that made my heart skip so many beats.

My parents didn't notice, Chelsea didn't notice, Austin didn't notice, but Jaxon Prinston did.

"Just make a right turn here. Sixth house by your right." I say and he nods.

We get to the house and he parks right in front of it. I turn to face him.

"Thanks for the ride."

"No problem."

"I just realized something. Sometimes, driving can be very tiring." I chuckle. "My mom gave me a ride this morning and you in the afternoon which has made me a little lazy."

"Just after a free ride of one day?" He chuckles.

"Yup. I wish I had a ride everyday. I wouldn't have to drive so much." I sigh. "I'm grateful for the ride." I carry my bag and open the door.

"No problem. See you tomorrow." He waves and I climb out.

"Bye." I say as I close the door and I wave back.

I walk inside and he drives off.
