You're the first person I'm telling.

"So you mean, Taylor Prinston is Jaxon's kid sister?!" Chelsea asks for the thousandth time.

"Yes Chelsea, I'm was just as surprised as you are."

"He didn't even say anything!"

"He said he didn't think it mattered." I shrug.

"He didn't think it mattered?! If I had a famous sibling, I'd brag about it all the frickin time! I'd even make some bucks off her!"

We've been on this for a while now. The fact that Taylor Prinston was Jaxon's kid sister is really a shock.

"Guess I'd have to butter up to him more." I glare at her.

"What? It's not like I don't like him before, but it has increased ten fold." She folds her arm and I shake my head.

"I don't just understand why he needs my dad's approval." I sigh, changing the subject and Chelsea becomes serious.

Ever since Jaxon dropped me off Saturday night, I couldn't stop thinking about what he said.

"Maybe it's something between him and your dad?" Chelsea suggests.

As soon as I got to school, I looked for her, sat her down in our first class, and told her everything.

"They don't seem that close."

"Why don't you just ask him?" She suggests again.

"I did!" I put my hands up in frustration. "But he just bid me goodnight."

"Well that's not progressive."

"I know." I sigh. An idea pops in my head. "Hey, why don't you tell Austin to ask him?"

"Sure. I'll just be like, 'hey Austin. Could you please ask Jaxon why he told Summer he needs her dad's approval?' How convenient." She folds her arms together.

"Gee thanks. What a nice way of saying no."

She flips her hair.

"My pleasure." I roll my eyes.

Suddenly, she gasps and grabs my arm.

"What if, just what if, he needs your dad's approval because he wants to ask your hand in marriage?!"

What?

"What?"

"You know, like in the movies. The main guy lead goes to ask for the father's approval first before he proposes." She squeals.

"I have a confusing friend and now a delusional bestie. What a great way to start my Monday."

"C'mon." She hits me. "How else would you explain what he said?"

"Maybe I'll just ask again."

"Sure. Like he'd answer you just like he did the first time."

"I hate you." I eye her.

"And I love you too." She winks at me and the bell rings.

.....

I'm at my locker looking for my AP Chemistry textbook when Jaxon rushes to me.

"Hi." He says quickly.

"Heyy. You seem excited." I smile.

"I got in." He says in a rush.

"Got into what?" I ask in confusion.

"The team. I passed tryouts and I got in." He had a big g smile on his face and it was contagious.

"That's great news!"

"I know. Coach called me to his office and gave me the news. Said they're gonna have a friendly game next month and that'll determine my position on the field." He just couldn't stop smiling.

I could feel the excitement radiating from him.

"Well, I'm glad. Said you were gonna get in and you did."

"I'm so happy right now."

"So what did Austin say?" His smile drops a little.

"Austin?" He asks and I nod.

"Yeah. What did he say when you told him?"

"Um, I haven't told anyone else yet." He scratches the back of his neck.

"So you mean....." I trail off.

"Yes. You're the first person I'm telling."

Oh my.

"Um..."

"I just received the news from coach and then all I could think of was how to tell you."

Oh. My.

"But I'll probably tell him after school. I have training and he'll be there."

"That's cool."

That's cool?!

Summer seriously?!

Who the hell says that's cool in this situation!

"So you'll be at my game?" He asks and I nod.

"I wouldn't miss it."

"Great, thanks. I'll see you later." He hugs me and starts to run the opposite direction.

I close my locker in a daze.

I need to see Chelsea.
