Chapter 35 Unlimited resources

Gabriel awoke early the next morning; he prayed, hit the gym, had breakfast, took a shower, and got dressed. Diane's sisters buzz the gate at eight, which was perfect because he needed to go on the road and take care of some business. Diane was still asleep so he kisses her gently on her lips, he left the room but came back a few minutes later, sitting next to her he ran his fingers gently down her cheek.

"Baby girl." He whispers in her ear. "Hey baby girl, can you open your eyes for a little while." Diane groans and stretches sleepily. "Don't be greedy baby boy; I gave you some early this morning." She whispers still half asleep. "You know I can't get enough of you." He whispered smiling down at her. "And you'll get more, just not right now." "Baby; look at me; I've to go on the road for a while but I couldn't leave without telling you I love you." He whispers as she smiled sleepily up at him.

"I love you more baby boy." She whispered hugging him. "Remember if you start feeling cramps or short of breath, just take deep breaths and try to relax okay." "Okay baby." He lifts her nightgown over her stomach and rests his head gently on it while whispering to the babies. "Daddy loves you little ones; take it easy on mummy today okay." He kisses her stomach gently then got up. "If you need me at any time, call me okay." "I will, drive safely baby." "I'll, bye beautiful." Her eyes were once again closed before he left the room.

He had just closed the gate behind him when his phone rang; putting it in the holder he answered it. "Hi Alex, what's up?" "Hey Prince, are you still at home?" "I just left." "You're not driving with the phone at your ear, are you?" "No, it's in the holder." "Oh good because talking on phones while driving can cause accidents; so anyway I was wondering if you could stop by this morning, I need to talk to you about something important." "Sure I'll be there in a few minutes."

Twenty minutes later he came to a stop at Alex's gate. The housekeeper let him in and told him that Alex was waiting for him in the living room. "Okay; here I am; what's going on?" Gabriel asks walking into the living room and taking a seat next to Alex. "Looking good as usual I see, it's nice to see that being married hasn't made you lose your sense of style." Alex laughs.

"I didn't come here to discuss my clothes Alex; get to the point; why am I here?" Gabriel asks impatiently. "Well I've been talking to my mother and she seems to be doing well but there're a few things that need to be taking care of before she can migrate here, so…. um… I was thinking about going over there for a few months to get things organized."

"Okay so when are you planning to leave?" "Um… I'm leaving tomorrow." "That soon huh? Well, I would be lying if I said I wasn't going to miss you." "I feel the same way but I'm planning on keeping in touch, you know, by calling, emails, video chat, and all that. And another thing, I know that in a couple of weeks you're going to be very busy with your new babies, and even though Marlon is still taking care of things at the auto shop I was hoping you could squeeze in a little time to keep an eye on my businesses for me." Alex asks in a nervous tone.

"Sure I can do that." "Thanks, man, I ….I really appreciate that." "Just take care of yourself while you're over there okay, and don't forget to put God first in everything you are doing," Gabriel advised. "Don't worry, I won't, I promise." "So what about your nurse and your housekeeper; what's going to happen to them while you're away?" Gabriel asks.

"Well my nurse is coming with me and my housekeeper will be coming in twice a week to freshen things up and of course I'll be asking you to pay her for me, I'm trying to see if I can get her a few more days to hold her over until I get back." "Sounds like you've everything sorted out, I wish you all the best; I really hope everything works out for you."

"So do I." Wheeling over to the desk in the corner of the living room he took up his laptop and hand it to Gabriel. "Here's all the information you'll need to keep on top of things, and thanks again for helping me, you're really the only one I can trust to handle my businesses." "Be safe alright, and call me before you leave; and just so you know, the fact that you hurt me doesn't mean you're not still my brother. I want only what is best for you always." Gabriel said hugging Alex.

"Prince…I…." "Hey stop; I love you man and you'll always be in my prayers and nothing you have done to me could ever erase what you have done for me; now please take care of yourself; I can't lose anyone else; you hear me; if you need anything, call me okay." "I will man, you're the best," Alex said with tears in his eyes. "I know," Gabriel said punching him playfully before leaving.

He spends the rest of the day checking on his business and attending meetings and got home around seven pm. He, Jasmine, and Diane had dinner together got dresses, and left for church by nine pm. They spend New Year's Eve worshiping God and thanking him for all he had done for them throughout the past year. They left church at one am and as he drives his family home a wonderful feeling of peace and happiness came over him; God had blessed him with a wonderful family, great friends, and unlimited resources for him to help a lot of people and for that he would be forever grateful

On new years day, he took his family out to lunch, a movie, dinner, and then for dessert at Pastries Delight. Jasmine had them laughing all the way home with funny little jokes and actions she was doing in the back seat. The next day he, Diane, and Jasmine went to the spa for a head-to-toe body treatment.

The following day was Diane's doctor's appointment. The doctor told them, that both Diane and the babies were doing fine, which was good news considering she was over seven months; he then took her to lunch before taking her home; after which he spends the rest of the afternoon working on his computer.

On Friday they went to Price Smart, then to a few stores to do a little more shopping for the babies. On Saturday they took Jasmine to Coco jam and then on Sunday they all went to church. Gabriel was outside assisting Jasmine with her lunch which he has been doing for weeks because he didn't want Diane moving around too much when Karen came and sit beside her. "Hi, Diane." "Hi, Karen how are you?" Diane asks massaging her stomach.

"I'm okay so far, I guess you're going the whole nine months huh?" "Yeah maybe." "Well….um I was thinking and um...well I know that Gabriel and I have a past but we're friends also and I was wondering if there is a chance that I could come over your house this afternoon you know for lunch or just to hang out."

"I'll have to get back to you on that one," Diane replied. "I figure that would be your answer but we were friends before Gabriel came on the scene and I don't want to lose your friendship although I have a feeling I already have."

Diane knew that Gabriel had lots of sexual partners before her and most of them were just a one night stand but not Karen, he had admitted having sex with her all of three different times, so he must have really liked her and that's what was making her so jealous and uncomfortable. "You haven't lost my friendship okay, it's just an awkward situation that's all but I don't think we should be having this conversation in the house of God, so can we do this another time."

Diane knew that she had hurt Karen's feelings but deep down she also knew that being friends with one of Gabriel's ex-lovers was not a good idea even if they were friends before. "Oh of course we can talk another time." Diane was waiting for Karen to get up but she just turns her attention to the preacher instead. I'm going to enjoy knocking you off that high horse you're on Diane while taking your man right from under you. She thought with a satisfied smile.

A few minutes later Gabriel came back inside and because someone was already sitting beside Diane he had to sit beside Karen which seems to be exactly what Karen was hoping for because she immediately began whispering to him; so low that Diane couldn't hear what she was saying.

She was so jealous she could hardly breathe. It was plain to her that Karen only wanted to be her friend because she wanted to be close to Gabriel and if that was her plan then she as Gabriel's wife would have to put a stop to it right now. She touched Karen on her shoulders and told her that she needed to speak to her outside.

Diane walks over to the car park and Karen followed her. Once there she turns to Karen. "Tell me something; do you really want to be friends with me or are you just trying to get close to my husband?" Diane asks firmly and Karen seems surprised by the question. "What do you mean?" She asks innocently. "Listen Karen I don't want to play games; do you still have feelings for my husband?"

"I thought you said this wasn't the place to discuss this." "Yeah, well that was before you start whispering in my husband's ear; which I thought was very inappropriate by the way." "I didn't mean anything by it, I was only asking him for a drive home that's all, and despite what you think I'm not going after your husband." "For your sake, I hope you're not and yes you can have a drive home but the next time you need something ask me, there are no secrets between me and my husband and Karen don't forget that actions speak louder than words okay and another thing I think it's time you get the number of a Taxi service." "I hear you loud and clear Diane." Was all she said before she turns and walks away?

Two hours later Gabriel pulled the vehicle into the garage then a few minutes later they entered the house. Jasmine went to feed Lily and Gabriel went into the kitchen to prepare something for them to eat, Diane went to use the bathroom after which she joined Gabriel in the kitchen. "Didn't I tell you to go relax and I'll bring lunch to you?" He asks scowling at her.

Diane stuck her tongue out at him. "I can't relax, I'm too wound up." She pouts. "Wound up about what?" "It's not a what; it's a who. If I ask you something will you give me an honest answer?" She asks taking a seat at the counter. "Don't I always." "I hope so; alright what I need to know is this, are you still sexually attracted to Karen?" She asks watching his reaction closely.

His scowl deepens as he put a glass of juice in front of her. "I was never sexually attracted to Karen." Diane rolled her eyes at him. "Ooooh really, you expect me to believe that? Gabriel the woman not only has a gorgeous body, but she's also downright beautiful." "Compare to whom?" He asks raising his brows. "Well me, for instance." "Since when do you compare yourself to Karen?" He snorts shaking his head.

Walking across the kitchen he opened the fridge and took out the bowl of fruit salad, placing it on the counter he went and got three bowls from the glass cabinet. "Since the moment I met her and you're changing the subject." She said annoyed and he sighs heavily.

"Listen, baby girl, I've had sex with a lot of beautiful women, a hundred times more beautiful than Karen; she was just another one of them and there wasn't any sexual attraction involved they were just someone to give me what I wanted at that time." "So if you weren't attracted to her, why did you have sex with her three different times?"

He took the chicken salad from the fridge and places it on the warmer before turning to her. "For the same reason I had sex with all the others; I was horny they came on to me and the rest is history." "So why was she the only one you were with three different times?"

Gabriel bit his bottom lip and smiled at her. "You're full of questions today aren't you?" He chuckled. "Yes I am; now answer the question." "I thought I already did." "No, you didn't." She snaps. "Because she was available; it was as simple as that. There were no feelings involved except what I was feeling in my pants at that moment." He said taking out the big bottle of juice.

"The first time I met her in that club we did it in the restroom, Second time in the outside restroom. Third time in that hotel and that didn't turn out so well for her. It wasn't until I saw her at the bake sale that day and she told me what she had been through that it really hit me; it hit me hard because I couldn't believe that I had hurt her that badly." He sighs heavily.

"Of all the girls I've been through Karen is the only one that ended up in the hospital and the truth is I didn't even care about the fact that I hurt her, because that night after I became bored with her I ended up going to another motel with another girl."

Taking three forks from the draw he put them in one of the bowls and then began fumbling with the edge of the pack of wipes on the counter. "The night it happened, I was so angry that she couldn't satisfy me that I walk out of that motel room and never look back. She was crying but I didn't care; I never saw her again after that until that day at the church."

"I remember you told me that you ask her to forgive you and she called you a monster." "Yeah she did, the thing is I agree with her, I still do; I was really a horrible monster back then. I didn't care about anyone or anything; it was all about what I could get from them. You know, get in, get off, and get out, end of story." He said running his fingers through his hair

That last statement broke her stance of defense; she no longer felt the urgency to grill him; now she actually felt guilty for asking him all those questions. "I'm sorry for all the questions baby, it's just that she keeps telling me that despite what happened between the two of you; she still wants to be friends with me but I just have this feeling that she only wants to be friends with me to get close to you and I'm afraid that if she comes on to you again you won't be able to resist her; considering that you're not getting much action at home."

Her hand flew to her mouth and she wishes she hadn't made that last statement; because when he turns his head slowly sideways and looks at her again if she wasn't sitting down she probably would've run from the kitchen.

He looks as though he was about to strangle her. "Are you serious right now? For the love of God woman, how many times do we have to go over this?" He sneers coldly between clenched teeth. "Every day of our lives we're faced with choices and decisions; we can either choose to do the right thing or the wrong thing but I for one am choosing to do the right thing because there's no way in hell I'm going back to being the person I was before." He said firmly with both hands gripping the edge of the counter.

"Now you listen to me and you listen well. I stood in front of God and vow to remain faithful to you and since I've already had every kind of woman I could ever desire; I don't think there's any left on the face of this earth that could convince me to break that vow am I making myself clear?" He asks in a cold tone. "Yes baby, very clear." She said as his intense blue eyes send shivers down her spine.

Food for thought

There never is a night or day

When God won't hear us as we pray;

There is no time, there is no place,

When he'll withhold his love and grace.
