March 14th ,for the occupants, The moon in the preparation room…
"That wall you are referring to is actually the gaming area boundary and as for getting past it I'm afraid that is not possible for you as you are all new players and don't have the power level to make it past this gaming area.", Quirrel wagged its finger in admonishment towards all those asking how to escape, "Those who are in the gaming area are officially part of THE SHOW as I've stated earlier and as such must follow the game rules, that being said those on the outside can enter at anytime of their own free will to voluntarily become participants in THE SHOW themselves.", Quirrel was trying to mime what it was saying with its fingers as if trying to teach a child something that was beyond their capability to learn in an obviously degrading manner, "And because those outside can enter at anytime it is advised that you not stay too close to the boarder as you may be struck by those who are passing through the visually obstructing boundary while they can't see where they are going for a distance of fifteen meters, accidents have already occurred already a few times.".
Quirrel once again rose up and snapped its fingers opening another hollo revealing what seemed to be one of the highways that directly intersected with the grey shifting mist barrier, on the outbound lanes starting from the barrier and moving back down the road was a massive car pile up that must have occurred immediately as soon as the barrier was erected causing all of the traffic to crash to a dead stop from a hundred and ten kilometers an hour. The cars were absolutely demolished near the border with many crushing those in front underneath and packing the vehicles together like sardines, but the further from the mist the less damage the following cars had, probably from the added time they had for slamming their breaks before inevitably smashing into the pile up.
Across the dividing barrier on the inbound lane there wasn't a single vehicle, but in their place was what looked like a homeless shanty town set up across all the lanes right beside the barrier with a few pressed right up against it.
As Seb watched he could see the usual activity any little camp would have that you would expect with people cooking, watching children, or sitting at the edges watching outwards acting as security, the only exception was that unlike the camps or shanties Seb had been a part of before, the atmosphere of entertainment and joviality was missing…and in it's place there seemed to be an oppressive gloom with people crying, praying or pawing at the barrier as if they could dig their way through by hand. All of these people must have been hoping to be able to escape through the barrier somehow, although as he watched on he couldn't think of why they would think that or why they would even try camping out in such an area?
Seb was just thinking these people must have been extremely desperate and lost to try and hold out for something like this as opposed to trying to find better shelter with security and supplies to hold out for rescue instead, Seb shook his head and looked back just in time to see everything change in a drastic and violent way.
As he looked on large military vehicles advanced through the mist unhindered, the vehicles themselves didn't seem to be going to fast, maybe fifty or sixty kilometers and hour, but there were other factors that made what was about to occur unavoidable. The proximity of the camp to the barrier, the weight of the large military vehicles, the fact the drivers knew there were others following behind them, and while he wasn't sure he could guess that the shock of regaining sight after plowing through a barrier that stole it must have all contributed to the massive loss of life that was unfolding on the hollo.
The inhabitants of the camp didn't even register the vehicles until they had already gone through about half of the camp leading to many just standing in place as the giant APCs rolled over them and the tents in the way as well as sending those struck on the edges cartwheeling bonelessly through the air to be run down by those following behind. For their part the drivers tried to brake after leaving enough room for those coming behind them to register the stopped vehicles, but this just widened the devastation as those coming behind swerved to avoid a collision and sped past them into the rest of the camp that was now trying to escape.
In a few seconds the camp was destroyed with tents run over, cook fires scattered, and heavy military vehicles parked on the far side of the camp with red tires and undercarriages, those sitting or trying to flee were mostly struck or dragged under the wheels leaving behind broken bodies with different injuries ranging from broken limbs, completely missing body parts, or crushed abdomens and limbs. It happened so sudden it was like a punch in the gut for all of those watching as none were expecting to see such horrible violence without any warning, Seb could feel his ghost pain flair in his mind causing him to stumble in sympathetic pain from the electricity firing in his mind as he knew exactly how some of those people were feeling in that moment, Josiah at his side turned around so that he could finish his wrap without having to stare at such a horrific scene probably to avoid throwing up his coveted meal and all around them they could hear gasps or cries of surprise.
As Seb was watching the tents leaking their mashed contents onto the asphalt he could see the first stirring of those hit by the vehicles, the ones moving where the ones with the least serious injuries like broken or crushed limbs and were reaching towards their injuries on instinct to grab at what was causing them pain. The ones with more serious wounds either couldn't move or were spending their last few breaths of life as they sped towards death from blood loss staring at whatever was directly in front of their face.
Seb's expression hardened as he got flashbacks of metal grinding bone and flesh to paste and splinters and for a second he could see bumper and undercarriage of the vehicle that haunted his dreams for the first month after he got his @ss ran over, he blinked it away and shook his head to reclaim control of his thoughts as he spent another small piece of his humanity to force himself to not care about those he had just watched suffer as he had before, that was their problem and he needed clarity right now to try and get anything useful from this hollo.
Glancing to the side at Quirrel he saw that it was looking directly at him with an even bigger smile than normal and slitted glowing red eyes, it knew so much about him it had to know this was similar in a way to what happened to him and the slow start to how he became so cold and uncaring, while thinking this a slight nod from the alien almost one hundred percent confirmed his suspicions causing his right eye to twitch before he refocused on the images determined to not let this get to him.
