Going to war

"Wait, what do you mean I have to command the droids?" Wave asked incredulously.

"Exactly that, I need you to give orders to the droids during the battle." Amber restated her order.

"Well why can't you do it?" he questioned. Something like commanding an army seemed more like a boss's job.

"I'll be preoccupied with another task, we don't have anyone else available for this kind of job." She explained. None of the scientists were able to command an army, it wasn't part of their jobs. Even if Wave didn't have any experience, he was the only one available to do it.

"Sis, I don't know if you've realized this but I'm 15 with no experience with this kinda thing." he reasoned as he's been stuck in the abyss his whole life. The closest thing to experience would be his games, but he's pretty sure that those don't count.

"You'll be fine, you don't have to win, just do your best." She said as she really wasn't worried. They had an army of robots that can be created on the fly and launched down from orbit. She had unlocked the orbital and dimensional deployments, so they wouldn't have to move their space station to send more forces.

"I guess I'll try... I thought I was head of Special ops and recruitment though." Wave sighed as he would attempt despite feeling like he's definitely going to fail.

"That's a good point, alright I'm promoting you to Aversis Tech's First Commander, along with your other job titles. Congratulations." The blue haired CEO smiled as she gave a congratulatory clap.

"I don't think a promotion means much considering our work force is in the single digits not counting droids." He gave her a half lidded stare.

[Don't worry Master Wave. I am sure you'll do fine.] I heard Onyx's attempt at calming my worries as I began to head to the cafeteria for some food. Despite the fact that we don't have a chef, we somehow have infinite food. Amber explained that dad just used magic to spawn food and disguised it as tech.

"I don't know Onyx, I trust my sister but who the hell makes a 15 year old in charge of an army?" I muttered out. Fighting things on my own, swinging a sword, staying alive, easy. Successfully commanding an army? Much different I'd imagine.

[If it makes you feel better, a 5 year old child was in charge of Atlas for a time.]

"Didn't Atlas go down shortly after?" I raised a brow at that. I'm pretty sure that was basically the downfall of Atlas.

[Yes, even General Knoxx was fed up with the boy.] Onyx confirmed.

"Man, if only General Knoxx wasn't dead, maybe we could have recruited him." I remember the man was actually quite competent, and wasn't necessarily bad. It's just he had shitty superiors and Pandora just wasn't a good place for men like him.

"Hey Wave, what's the matter bruv? You're looking kinda down there." I turned to Gladstone who was eating with Dr Torres.

My sister had convinced them to join us on the promise that she would deal with Jack in a couple years. Dr. Langois couldn't stay due to being worried about his son, so I brought him back to his home world and helped him go into hiding for awhile. He said he might be willing to join us in a year when everything has died down though, so that's something to expect.

"Eh, well I got promoted." I told them

"Well that's great! Cheers mate." He raised a glass up.

Gladstone originally worked on experimental tech. The constructor was actually a side project of his, so he's pretty much free to build whatever as long as Dr. 21 greenlights him for it.

"CONGRATULATIONS, I AM HAPPY FOR YOU!" Dr. Torres said in his usual default tone. You know, I wonder if he actually knows that he basically yells everything he says.

Dr. Torres despite his manner of speech, came up with a lot of advancements in marine biology such as pressure resistance that sells like hotcakes on the aquamarine planets. Which is great, because Dr. 21 handles the business side of our company. I just know she's been stressed about it lately because she had to handle all the contracts that we were losing as we couldn't restock our inventories for a few months.

"To a job that I'm completely underqualified for." I sighed, clarifying my position.

"Ah cheer up Wave, I'm sure you'll be fine." Gladstone assured me.

"I AGREE, YOU ARE REALLY GOOD AT KILLING THINGS." Dr. Torres apparently saw some of the recordings of me storming the other corporations.

"Thanks for the vote of confidence I guess." I said, grabbing a tray of food.

On the Vladof base of their home world, It was a quiet, yet nervewrecking day. Soldiers would move on about looking over their shoulders for ghosts that weren't there. The high ranking officers opted to stay holed up in their offices. The reason for this was that it had been 3 months since the Aversis Tech's CEO declaration of war. So everyone was currently high strung.

Ivan Vladof realized this and considered whether or not to raise morale with a speech. However he was wary of their coms being taken over again. He wondered if the Aversis Tech CEO was just waiting for him to make a move or not.

"Sir, I think you're gonna want to take a look at this." One of the men responsible for watching their space field called out to him.

"What is it?" He asked with a frown, making his way to the screen.

"It looks like... a hole in space?" The soldier said a bit unsure. However it just caused Ivan's frown to deepen.

"Arrgh, out of the way." He pulled the man aside and looked at the screen. There looked to be a blue lined circle above their planets orbit. Despite the odd sight, he had a gut feeling telling him to alert his army. So with decisiveness, he slammed his hand on a large button.

Alarms rang out through the entire complex. All personel were immediately alerted and ran to their battle stations despite not even seeing an enemy yet.

Up above their orbit, Ivan saw it. Blue lights falling down towards their planet as if it were a meteor shower. Ivan got on the coms and took a deep breath.

"MY COMRADES! THE AVERSIS DOGS HAVE COME. LET US BURY THEM UNDER AN AVALANCHE OF LEAD!" He made his intentions short and clear before their coms could be jacked. Adrenaline rushed through his armies as they all held up their guns.

"Ivan Vladof." A voice called out his name. Everyone turned their attention to the skies as a projector screen showed the form of not the CEO of Aversis Tech. But a young teen, who's red eyes unnerved the populace.

"I am Wave Aversis, the First Commander of Aversis Tech. Like my sister has said, we have come for your arm. Surrender your arm and no one has to die, or pointlessly struggle against us. The choice is yours." Despite his young appearance, none of them thought he was joking. They had seen what he could do in his suit. Before they only had a name, now they had a face to go with it.

In response, Ivan's face appeared on the large building. "Surrender? VLADOF WILL NEVER SURRENDER TO THE OPPRESSORS!" he roared as the rest of the armies followed suit.

"I warned you." Wave shook his head before the screen in the sky disappeared. However the skies didn't clear up, instead the men and women of the Vladof army found themselves beneath a large oppressive shadow.

"What the hell is that?!"

Eclipsing the sun, a massive ship spanning across at least 300 acres of land appeared above the Vladof army. The ship itself was at least half the size of their base.

Looking down from the ship, Wave thought back to his orders.

"Once the battle begins, I need you to not personally go down and fight. But make it so that the enemy can see you on the ship itself."

"One big ship won't be enough to win."

"I don't need you to win, I just need you to be as showy as possible."

To be as showy as possible huh. Kind of hard to do when I'm forced to stay on this ship. This isn't even a war ship, this is a transport ship that my sister repossessed at some point. However they don't know that.

"Sir, all units are in position." A tactical droid saluted to me as I turned to it. Good, now to see what they're made of.

"Have the droidekas rush them from the front and send the first and second brigade behind them." I don't want to give them time to set up, although they've probably already done it since they've been waiting for this day for months. Might as well see what kind of set up they have.

"Roger, roger."

The nice part about having a near endless robot army. Sacrifices can be made.

"We've got clankers headed our way!" someone with binoculars shouted out spotting the marching army over the horizon.

"Rollers are comin in fast! They got shields! Our bullets aren't getting through them!" Another soldier shouted as their standard bullets weren't piercing the Droideka's barriers.

"Use the cannons damnit!"

Before the large cannons could rotate to the direction of the shielded droidekas, dozens of rockets soared through the air colliding with the cannons. In the distance at the front of the marching army, a line of bronze droids with rocket launchers instead of blasters were bombarding them as the Droidekas continued their steady advancement.

"They destroyed the cannons! Fall back!"

"Sir, half their vanguard is retreating." The tactical droid informed as the Commander blinked in surprise. He didn't think their droids were so competent considering what he knew of star wars.

"Well that worked better than I thought. Continue advancing, we might actually win this thing after all." Wave clapped pleasantly surprised. He thought that they would be at a stalemate there.

"Roger, roger."

"Wonder how long it'll take them to realize that this ship doesn't have any big guns." he muttered in thought.

"Sir, they're aiming for our engines." Another tactical droid informed him, causing him to feel like he jinxed it.

"Welp, how long do you think they'll take to bring us down then?" he asked sighing as this was inevitable.

"Judging from the current level of force they are using. 15 minutes." the droid calculated. Which usually meant that it was probably going to be 10 minutes.

"Ah... Well then. You all have my permission to take cover before we begin crashing. If you survive, regroup on my signal." Wave nodded. He wasn't really worried about crashing, he believed he could survive it, probably.

"Thank you, sir!" They saluted before promptly screaming and running out the room. "AAAHHHHHH!" Wave stared blankly as the group of tactical droids ran out the room.

"Wonder how machines feel fear." he asked out loud. No one answered him.

Deep within the backlines of the Vladof Army. A group of soldiers were standing in front of large bipedal mechs in attention.

"ALRIGHT LISTEN UP SOLDIERS. WERE SENDING YOU OUT THERE TO PUSH BACK THOSE CLANKERS, THE MOMENT THAT SHIP IN THE SKY FALLS. GO TAKE BACK THE FRONT LINE." A superior officer named Kaziak briefed them.

"Sir, how far do you want us to push?" A newbie asked.

"UNTIL YOU'VE KILLED ALL THE CLANKERS!" Kaziak ordered much to the dread of the rest of the Ursa Corps.

"I don't think we have the firepower for that many clankers, sir. We could take back the front line, but we'd need resupply to keep up the fight." Second Class Gunner Moze reasoned, glancing at the endless army of droids still showing up on the horizon.

"I DON'T GIVE TWO TURDS AND A VERCUVIAN HAM SANDWICH WHAT YOU THINK SOLDIER, IF YOU WANT TO BE PROMOTED TO FIRST CLASS THEN YOU BETTER GET YOUR ASS OUT THERE. URSA CORPS MOVE OUT!" Kaziak shouted before running off to a safer area.

"F*CKING MOTHERF***ER PIECE OF SH**ING F***MEAT" The majority of the Ursa Corps began shouting expletives due to being sent on what was basically a suicide mission.
