The war continues

You know, when you've lived your life inside of a hell for the drowning souls of sinners. The concept of death itself becomes pretty.... meh. I mean don't get me wrong, I still have fears. It's just my sense of actual fear has been sort of... skewed after my experiences.

There's no actual light in the abyss, so for years I couldn't actually see besides the times when my Mom and Dad would be down there with me. However they weren't always there and when they weren't I would cry. I would cry long and hard. Unfortunately my cries were always drowned out by the wails of anguished souls.

It was maddening.

I think at some point down there, something inside me just snapped. I just became this broken, unmoving, unfeeling child that was always on the border of life and death. I didn't feel anything from the writhing souls, the empty darkness or even my parents. Maybe they were worried for me during that stage of my childhood.

Then after some time, I ended up snapping again. Except this time I regained what I had lost, my sanity. I don't know, perhaps I just went full circle in the cycle of fear and insanity.

It was just, somehow through the dark madness and horrors that was my life.

I had found a way to look deep inside myself.

And pull out the light within

On another note, I am currently feeling the wind sail through my hair as I plummet down to the ground in this oversized transport ship. Apparently they have their own war ships, who would have thought eh?

*BOOM* a massive explosion washed over the ship, causing vibrations to pass through me on my seat and I'm pretty sure that was our last engine.

"Well, no stopping this now. Onyx, if I could get a drink?" I asked as a plastic cup with a straw appears in my hand. Sipping on soda as I plunge to the ground.

What a fun day.

Cheers spread through the Vladof army as morale was raised from the sight of the oversized air ship crashing into the ground in a fiery explosion.

For the Vladof army, it was a good thing that they were pushed back because the ship mainly fell on the droid army as they had already pushed far up. Slowly the cheers died down at the sound of thumping through the earth, leaving only the crackling sound of flames from the wreckage.

"It's the Ursa Corps!" A Vladof soldier shouted, pointing at the 15 ton titanium mechs rushing towards the wreckage.

The cheers started up again as the Ursa Corps rammed their way through the wreckage and over any functioning droids. Although the morale of those who didn't know much were at an all time high. The Ursa Corps knew that the moment they got to the other side of the wreckage, an army of clankers would be waiting for them.

"Sir! It's good to see you're still alright." A surviving tactical droid saluted

"Are there any others coming?" I asked getting down to business.

"2 of 7 tactical units are still functional." The droid reported. Does that mean only one more is alive including him? Or does he mean two more of them are coming?

"Well whatever, they'll get here when they get here. What's the current situation?" I asked because I have no idea what the hell is going on at the moment.

"The First Brigade and Droideka units have been crushed by the crash and the Second Brigade is currently being pushed back by the Ursa Corps." Huh, is that a coincidence? Or did they plan for me to fall on my own army? If it was planned out then I am impressed at their quick thinking.

"So they finally sent them out eh?" I hummed as I read their files on my Pip-boy. If I remember right, Moze from BL3 was in the Ursa Corps. Shame because I was a Moze main when I played. Iron bear for life. On a side note, why are they called a corps when there are only about 50 of them?

The droid's basic blasters won't be enough to break through their armor. However we still have 3 more Brigades of droids on the field, and the Iron Bear units don't have infinite energy for a drawn out fight.

"They might be trying to buy time though." I frowned. The Vladof army might be sacrificing the Ursa Corps then. But for what goal? I shook my head, no point in trying to figure out something without enough information. Although I could handle the Ursa Corps by stalling, my gut is telling me to end it fast.

"Sir, more than half of the Second Brigade have been destroyed." The second tactical bot appeared with a salute. Damn they really are going all out on this suicide mission.

"Our orbital cannons are preoccupied shooting down their war ships, which means we need to find another way to break through their armor." I told them. Maybe droids might have some ideas.

"Our rocket launchers aren't enough to phase them, sir."

"Their rail guns are piercing through the remaining droideka barriers."

"What's the area around us look like?" I changed the question. Perhaps we can use the terrain to our advantage. The two droids looked at each other for a moment.

"Uh sir, we don't actually have any visual of the area since the ship went down." One of the droids told me. Are you fucking serious!?

"The map was on there too. This place is unfamiliar to us." The other droid added. Don't you tin heads have this shit downloaded to your memory banks or something!?

"Haaaah..." I exhaled. pinching the bridge of my nose. I missed Onyx, I would ask him but sis told me that I should try to not rely on him for this so I could gain more experience or something.

'There's a deep canyon nearby that you could use.' I opened my eyes and looked at the image before me.

"Kuhahahaahahaha!" I laughed a genuine laugh that seemed to freak out the droids in front of me.

"Uh... are you okay sir?"

"Do you think he finally lost it?"

"It's nothing you need to be concerned about." I responded to the droids, closing my eyes for a moment.

"I just made a new friend." I said with a genuine smile.

The battle raged on as the Ursa Corps massacred the army of clankers. Slowly but surely they were retaking the front line with visible progress. Oddly enough the hordes of droids stopped appearing over the horizon.

The overall morale were at an all time high, maybe they wouldn't have to fight until they were out of power after all. On the high of their success with victory in sight, the Ursa Corps continued to trample over the droids. However one member in particular felt like something was off.

"Sir, this doesn't feel right." Second Class Gunner Moze said as she took a look at the area around them. They had kept pushing while the droids had continued to slowly back off, keeping up their futile attempts at damaging them with their blasters.

"What are you talking about solder? Were kicking ass!" Another member of the squad said as he torched a few droids.

"How far are we from the front line?" Moze asked, she felt like the droids had lead them here.

"Our orders were to keep on pushing and kill as many of the clankers as we can soldier." Their squad leader said, restating their orders.

"I know, but this doesn't feel right." she insisted

"Uh, I sort of feel like something is off too sir!" A few other members were beginning to feel like something was off as well.

*BOOM* A large explosion erupted from above them.

"TAKE COVER!" The squad leader was the first to react as giant boulders descended down to their location.

The group of Iron Bears had nowhere to go as they were bunched up in a narrow crevace. Giant stone boulders continued to rain down, crushing them beneath the rock.

"Sir, we've lost contact with the Ursa Corps" An officer reported

"Useless idiots!" Ivan slammed down on his desk.

'Where the hell are those Hyperion bastards!' He seethed with anger. A few months ago the President of Hyperion, Harold Tassiter had reached out to him with an offer to assist him in this war.

Realizing that the Hyperion President was probably itching for vengeance due to having his arm cut off, he accepted the offer. The man assured him that once the war began, he would send a signal and their Hyperion fleets would be sent out.

He was planning on having the Ursa Corps buy time as the enemy would know that they could beat them in a battle of attrition. He didn't expect them to be taken out halfway through their power supply though.

"Have you been able to contact Hyperion yet?!" He asked, beginning to feel anxious.

"They haven't responded yet sir!" An officer responded.

After Handsome Jack had killed Tassiter and took over Hyperion, he didn't make it public yet. Jack had taken the chance to gain full control of the company first, including staging the death of a few shareholders who didn't agree with him. Due to this, Ivan didn't realize that Tassiter was dead and in new hands.

Naturally Jack knew about Vladof's situation and agreement with his old boss. However he wasn't keen on making an enemy out of Aversis Tech at the moment. So he decided that he didn't want anything to do with this war until he had gotten full control of his company.

"Sir! More clankers are coming from the sky!"

"What!?" Ivan glanced at the screen. More blue lights rained from the sky, and this time in greater numbers than before.

'These Aversis dogs are really going all out.' he thought to himself.

"Sir, 150,000 more units have been deployed." A tactical droid informed his Commander.

"But I didn't request for reinforcements." Wave said with confusion. There wasn't a need for more droids this early in the battle. Plus having this many extra droids deployed would begin to put a strain on their already dwindling resources. He believed his sister was behind this and wondered what she was thinking.

FLASHBACK

"Hey Gladstone, how exactly does digistructing an army work?" Wave asked the scientist as he was looking around the experimental gadgets in R&D.

"Well it depends on the kind bruv."

"There are different kinds?"

"Oh yeah, you can use digistruct to store things into data and redeploy later. Or you could use it to construct digital constructs like digi-clones that assassins use. It can also even be used to create things from a blueprint, using already prepared material or as a digistruct construct." he explained.

"It was why the constructor bot I created had to be so huge, to have a large enough power source to construct a near infinite amount of bots. But Digistruct constructs take energy to keep out in the physical world depending on how large and complex it is, so that's why it's only nearly infinite."

"Your sister uses materials on hand though instead of digistruct constructs. I don't know where she gets it to be able to make this many bots." He said with a bit of wonder.

Wave never asked where his sister gets the metals and materials needed to create the droid armies, but he imagined that it would put a dent in their reserves.

Ivan stared at the screen with hard eyes.

The warships were being shot down by orbital bombardment, information on the numbers of clankers are inconclusive and they only had about 500,000 people on base at the moment. This wasn't the only war Vladof was fighting at the moment, so this was all he could call back.

"Is the war machine ready?" He asked coming to a decision.

"It's fully operational, sir."

"Deploy the Eridium blast shells onto the main cannon." He ordered

"Sir, our Eridium tech is still in it's experimental phase and we only have enough for three shells." an Officer responded, feeling unsure.

"And those three shells will be enough."

"But sir... our people will be in the blast radius..."

"Sometimes in war, you need to climb over the bodies of your comrades to get over the wall. And right now, this is the highest wall." Ivan stared hard into the man's eyes.

"Yes sir!" he saluted.
