A night to remember

Wave didn't have much experience when it came to being in contact with the opposite gender's body for a long period of time besides Dr. 21. However he was pretty sure that she didn't count. But comparing the soft and sweet fragrance of Dr. 21 versus the sweat-filled white locks of the Kaslana. He was pretty sure he preferred the former.

"Grrraaah! Let me go!" Kiana growled as she was being held by the gray haired teen on the bed. Her white hair was tangled up on his face, nearly suffocating him yet he didn't let go.

"Only if you agree not to break the wall!" Wave yelled back as he had his arms wrapped around her midsection in an effort to stop her from breaking down the wooden walls.

"Never! I don't want to be stuck in here with a pervert!"

"Oh get over yourself, I already told you that you ain't waifu material!"

In response, she began to thrash around even harder.

"Do you even know how much money I spent on these materials!? I can't just let you break it!"

"I don't care!"

"Think of how Mei might react if she came back and saw nothing but a pile of broken walls! She's expecting us to have this done by tomorrow!"

That actually got the Kaslana to stop for a moment and think. It was true that Mei would probably be disappointed and might even stop making food for them. That was something she didn't want to go without.

Feeling that the white haired girl had stopped squirming, Wave slowly let go of her mid-section. The sound of ragged breathing filled the air for a moment as the two didn't talk to each other on the bed. There wasn't much else to be since the bed took up a bit more than half the room.

Catching his breath, Wave decided to break the silence. "Okay, we just need to stay put until Mei comes back tomorrow to cut out a door with the power saw." It was about 7 P.M. and the sun was starting to go down.

"I can't just wait here all night!"

"Oh please, can't you go one night without doing your little wannabe hero routine?" he rolled his eyes.

"That's not it!"

"Well what is it?!"

"...I need to use the toilet." she reluctantly responded pressing her index fingers together. Her eyes glued to them as she wasn't able to look him in the eyes.

"..." Wave looked at her with an unreadable expression. After a moment he grabbed an empty water bottle from the side. "You can use this."

*SLAP sfx* It was immediately smacked away by the white haired girl. "Stupid pervert!"

"What? It's obviously the only logical thing to do in this situation." He stated not understanding why she was so mad. He had been in situations without being able to use the toilet before. Sometimes you gotta make do with what you got. "Oh, is it because you can't aim it?" in response he was immediately smacked upside the head.

"You can't just ask a lady to do something like that!" Kiana shouted with tears in her eyes.

"You're a lady!? Since when?" he asked with genuine disbelief as he couldn't see the girl as a lady.

"Stupid fish eyes!" She grumbled before turning around to another side of the wall with her arms wrapped around her knees.

The feeling of soft wind assaulted my senses along with the sound of crashing waves. I held back an urge to groan in frustration as I realized where I was again.

"This again..." I mumbled out, opening my eyes slowly before taking a short glance around the mountain peak.

I've been having this strange dream nearly every night for the past few weeks. Well I say it's a dream, yet it all feels so real. My hands on the rocky surface of this peak, the sound of the calm breeze around me with the warm rays of light coming from the sun.

I said that this was a dream, but to me it's more like a nightmare. I turned my gaze over towards the center of the peak.

There stood a giant stone cross pillar with hellish purple markings carved onto it.

I made that.

The edges were round and some of it was jagged, the surface looked like it should have crumbled away some time ago.

It was a gravestone created from my own grief.

A final goodbye.

Yet here I am again, in the place of my father's grave.

I stood in front of the towering gravestone with trembling hands.

I don't know what to say.

"I'm sorry..."

It was the only thing I could say.

"I'm so sorry..."

The sound of tears hitting the ground followed.

"I'm sorry..."

My eyes are blurry.

"I'm sorry..."

"I'm sorry..."

Kiana blinked for a moment and wondered if she was hearing things from her corner.

"I'm sorry..."

No she was definitely hearing that. The white haired girl turned around to look at the guy who annoyed her on a daily basis. Maybe he was actually apologizing to her for being such an asshole.

He was laying on his side, facing the other wall away from her. She didn't want to be on the same bed as him so she sat in the corner of the shack this entire time.

"I'm sorry..."

Moving closer to him, she realized that he was still asleep. His arms were trembling, he looked cold despite having a blanket on.

"Bad dream?" She raised a brow before turning him over on his back.

"I'm so sorry..."

Noticing that he wasn't waking up, she began to shake him. "Hey, wake up... Wake up!" she called out slightly louder each time.

He finally stopped murmering as he stirred to consciousness. The steady opening of his eyes revealed tears running down his sides and something she hadn't seen from him before. What was usually nothing but emptiness and slight condescension was replaced by deep pain and anguish.

Clarity returned to his red eyes, locking onto her own as she couldn't help but think that they looked beautiful when they weren't so empty. It was a shame that they reflected nothing but pain and sadness at the moment.

With a single blink, it all vanished into nothingness. The empty void returned as if what was there before never existed.

"And you called me a pervert." Wave gave his usual taunt with a smirk as she was basically looking down at him on the bed.

"You were crying." she pointed out the trail of tears that ran down the sides of his face.

"I'm allergic to tuna."

"I'm being serious here."

"And I'm not?"

Another moment of silence passed as the two didn't say anything after that. Wave was honestly beginning to feel uncomfortable with the white haired girl hovering above him with her arms on the side on his head.

'This is getting real awkward.' He was glad that he didn't have a boner at the moment, then it'd be even weirder.

Wave blinked as he noted the girl move her head back up and nearly sighed a breath of relief thinking that she was going to give up.

*BAM* However he didn't expect her to smash her forehead directly down to his own.

"OW! THE FUCK!" Wave yelped out in pain. He wasn't able to dodge it since she was right on top of him.

*Drip* He felt something drop on his cheek and winced when he looked back up at the Kaslana. Her head was dripping blood, yet her blue eyes were still locked right on to him.

"Well?" For some odd reason she still smiled despite the blood dripping down.

"... Why do you even care. It's none of your business." He found it hard to keep his silence in the face of those determined eyes and that damn smile.

"Because I'm a Kaslana." She immediately replied as if it made sense.

Wave didn't know what to say to that. Despite playing Honkai Impact the 3rd before, he didn't really get far and just learned some random spoilers on the wiki. He just couldn't understand the girl in front of him.

"That doesn't explain anything." He resorted to glaring at her as his annoyance was rising.

"I made an oath to my old man once. To 'fight for all that was beautiful in this world.'." She quoted before turning back down to him. "There I told you something about me, now it's your turn."

"I never asked you to tell me anything." He rolled his eyes.

"Well I told you something anyway, now tell me something back."

"..." He gave her a half lidded glare in silence.

"I can do this all night you know." She said with her usual confident smile.

Normally he would have retorted with a sort of sexual innuendo or tease, but right now he just wanted to get her off him.

He sighed in defeat. Oddly enough he noticed the girl seemed to have the strength of a gorilla. "If I talk, will you get off me?" She nodded and got off, laying on the side as the two stared up at the dark ceiling.

"I don't know what to say." He admitted after a moment. The whole situation was just odd to him.

"Tell me about yourself then." she suggested

"I'm Wave Aversis, I was born in the deepest parts of the abyss and I've eaten souls."

*Snrrk* Wave blinked as he turned to see the girl holding back what was obviously laughter.

"What are you a chuuni?" Her shoulders were trembling as she asked that.

"Hey, I'm being serious." he frowned at her.

"Right, right... Sorry keep going." She waved it off and stifled her giggles.

"Well I'm a demi-god that was born in another reality..." Wave began telling the story of his life so far.

From his monotonous days that he was capable of remembering in the abyss, to the hectic training that his father and uncle had put him through.

Kiana Kaslana wasn't sure which part of his story to believe, it seemed unbelievable and she sort of thought he was being an edgy chuuni. However whenever Wave would talk about his family and the time spent with birthdays, holidays and just in general, she noted that the tone of voice was one of longing and sadness, as if those days would never return. It was clear that he held those memories close to him.

Wave would continue to give his story as the night dragged on, he didn't really leave much out. He didn't care about what Kiana would believe or know. Whether it be about the Rift Master, his heritage, his family business, it didn't matter. To him, nothing truly mattered, he just wanted to let it out.

"And on my 16th birthday..." However when he got to the subject of his last birthday, he stopped. The words became choked on the back of his throat.

He started to tremble, his eyes started to water again. However he stopped when he felt a hand on his arm. He looked over to the girl that was still awake, looking at him instead of the ceiling.

"I...I killed my dad... He died so I could live..." The tears broke out as his voice became low. "And ever since then I-I've just been depressed about it, and confused because I just can't understand what he meant for me to do by saving me."

"I..I keep thinking of killing myself but... deep down I don't want to die and I keep struggling to find just a single damn reason to keep going." He grit his teeth and fist as the whole thing just pissed him off.

"I hate this, I hate myself, I hate everything!" His breathing became harsh to the point that it seemed like he was hyperventilating. His face became a bit redder as his anger kept rising.

However he froze as he felt a pair of soft arms wrapped around him. Kiana didn't say anything as she hugged the gray haired teen.

"Aaaahh....aaaaaaaahhhh!" Finding himself unable to say anything else, all that came out was choked sobs and cries of anguish.

Wave cried himself to sleep that night, but to his relief. He didn't dream about his father's grave.

*WRRRIIIIIIII* The whirring sound of a sawblade caused Wave to stir awake. His eyes slowly opened as he found that it was hard to move.

'Oh right, this happened.' He thought to himself, taking note of the Kaslana that fell asleep with her arms wrapped around him.

*BAM* The wooden panel of the wall fell down with a thud revealing a purple haired girl with indigo eyes.

Raiden Mei looked at the scene in front of her in silence with the power saw still in hand.

"Mmmm?" Wave noted a small groan escaping next to him as the Kaslana began waking up.

She raised her head and found herself locking eyes with Mei's. She then turned her head back down to Wave who she still had her arms wrapped around and quickly turned back and forth as the situation dawned on her.

"..Oh, I'm sorry I didn't mean to interrupt you two. Please excuse me!" Raiden Mei spoke loudly before running and exiting the roof.

"Eh!? Wait Mei-senpai! It's not what it looks like!" Kiana yelled as she jumped off the bed and tried to give chase.

"Oi." The Kaslana turned back for a brief moment to see Wave up with a conflicted expression. "Thanks Sirin." He said with sincerity.

"Who's Sirin? I'm Kiana Kaslana! Don't forget it!" She pointed at him

"Whatever you say Sirin." Wave shrugged his shoulders.

"Arrgh I don't have time for this. Mei-Senpai wait!" Kiana groaned as she believed Wave was making fun of her again by calling her a different name.

Wave watched the girl run off for a moment and thought back on last night. He didn't feel like all his problems went away after that night, but he felt like a large weight had been lifted from then on.

On side note, he saw the empty bottle from last night on the ground. However when he picked it up, he noticed it wasn't empty anymore. "Huh, I guess she's got good aim with more than just guns." he blinked as he left to discard the bottle
