Chapter 34: The Portal

Someone was carrying me. The motion of being rocked ruthlessly, pulled me from a cotton-candy sleep that I longed to get back to. I woke up with birds squealing overhead and the bright morning sun shining in my eyes. Forcing them open, I peeked up through my lashes at one of the henchmen carrying me in his arms. I lifted my head and was surprised to see that we were on a beach.

Soft sand and small rocks crunched underneath my carrier’s feet. His long strides jarred me even more, forcing me to become alert, until I was fully lucid.

“Let me go!” I kicked my feet in the air.

The henchman grunted and immediately stopped walking.

“It’s okay. Put her down. You know what to do if she runs,” Harry sung cheerfully from somewhere up ahead.

My feet sank into the airy sand and I righted myself with as much dignity as I could muster. “Where are we?” I looked around for Vazar.

He was up ahead with Harry. Next to me were the two henchmen and waited for Harry’s orders to keep moving.
