Chapter 48: The Family Feud

The vacuum around us whirled and tightened. There was no way I could keep my eyes open through the split-second journey from the hotel to my familiarity of my bedroom. The three of us materialized with a bang onto the threadbare carpet that I spent my childhood on.

Breathless from tele-porting two bodies, Vazar was unable to support the weight of us and all three of us crumped to the floor in a heap. It was Amaara who started giggling first, and her laugh was so infectious that both Vazar and I joined in, trying our best to remain quiet in case anyone was in the house.

“Ssh! Do you want us to get caught?” I said slapping at both their shoulders.

We managed to contain our laughter and compose ourselves enough to stand upright and take stock of the situation. The house was still, no movement from the space below us. Slowly I walked towards the door and cracked it open. The air was silent, signaling the coast was clear.
