Chapter 50: The End

I wiped away tears of laughter. Vazar’s extended family had all arrived and we gathered in the garden, eating, drinking and chatting about the days gone by. One of Vazar’s family friends told a funny story about how Vazar got caught shoplifting sweets from the local store and was brought home crying because he thought he was going to prison.

“Do you remember the time, Vazar threw a house party when his parents went away for the night? The police shut it down!” Another family member recounted, pinching Vazar’s cheek.

I peeked over at a blushing Vazar, “That was a long time ago, aunty! Let’s not rehash the past, eh?”

“Oh, embarrassed, are we? Don’t worry, Hannah, we have plenty of time to discuss his childhood misdemeanors!” The aunty teased.
