"I'm leaving!" Ivy declared as the clock struck two o'clock in the afternoon.
"Are you planning on going to the cemetery at this hour?" Eden inquired, her gaze fixed on Ivy.
"That's right mom, it will take me two hours to get there so I will arrive there around four o'clock in the afternoon that s why I need to go," Ivy explained.
"Baby, I'll take you there!" Edward volunteered while fixing himself, his clothes were already tangled due to lying down for too long.
"Don't bother, I can manage!" Ivy responded before kissing her Grandfather on the forehead and leaving.
"Wait for me!" Edward yelled and finally ran to catch up with Ivy who is not bothering to look at him.
Edward's phone abruptly rang as they approached the parking lot. He ignored it a few times, but the person on the other end of the line continued to call.
"Why don't you answer it, perhaps it's important?" Ivy said this when she saw that Edward kept on ignoring the call. Edward follows Ivy's suggestion who leaned against the car door to wait for him to finish the call.
"Hello?" Edward replied obviously indolent to talk to the other person whoever it is because he was disturbed.
"Sir the board member is requesting for an emergency meeting today at three o'clock in the afternoon." The anxious person on the other end of the line explained.
"Did you say I was on leave?" Edward said this with a sour tone as he looked at Ivy, who was staring at her shoes. He doesn't take his gaze away from her because he's afraid Ivy will abandon him.
"I told them, but they insisted on holding the emergency meeting."
"Then let them have their meeting!"
Edward was about to hang up when the person he was speaking with suddenly yelled. "They intend to remove you from your position as president of the company."
"What are you talking about? They're going to demote me?" Because of his rage, Edward wanted to crush the phone he was holding. They continued to admire him when the company had been prosperous and profitable. They resembled a dog that followed him wherever he went and whenever he did. They even wanted to wipe his shoes just to get close to him, and now that the company is in trouble, they wanted to kick him out.
"Why don't you go to the company first and solve the problem!" Ivy suggested as she walked away. Because company matters were more important than following Ivy. Edward decided to go to the company first but he was suddenly embarrassed because he couldn't keep his promise to Ivy to go with her.
"Please bring the car!" Edward shouted as he tossed the car keys to Ivy that she easily caught.
"How about you?" Ivy asked in surprise because she knew that Edward was not accustomed to taking public transportation.
"I'll have secretary John pick me up!" Edward responded.
Ivy didn't hesitate to take the car after hearing Edward's response. She also assumed that the cemetery where his parents were buried was far from the city and that it would take two hours to travel there by cab, but the problem was that she was about to leave that location. Because the area is isolated, it is difficult to find a cab or any other vehicle, so having a car is very convenient so she does not have to wait or walk for long.
Edward was the first to leave, but Ivy noticed him getting into a cab as she exited the parking lot. Ivy frowned because of that.
"Secretary John may not be able to pick him up so he considers commuting." She said to herself.
She just let go, did not think of that anymore and continued driving towards her target destination.
After a few minutes of driving, Ivy seemed restless as if someone was telling her to follow Edward.
She already has an idea of what's going on in the company based on Peter's report. Besides what she heard earlier from Edward's conversation. Ivy wanted to ignore it but her conscience could not. She doesn't know why she is bothered by Edward's problem. In the end, she made a U-turn and drove down the road to the place where the company was.
"I'm doing this for Grandpa's sake because he worked so hard for that company! Not because of Edward." Ivy justified her actions to herself.
When Ivy arrived at Tekno Innovation, she was shocked because it was not the same as before she left. The building is rusty and the color has already faded. It no longer has the bright lights that show the latest innovation of the company. The building seemed to be deserted as if no one was working.
She looks left and right, no security officer is guarding the premises, even the receptionist is nowhere to be seen. When she really couldn't see anybody, Ivy took the elevator and went straight to the 5th floor where Edward's office was located.
Just like downstairs where there are almost no people on that floor, so Ivy thought of going down to the 4th floor where the conference room is located. Ivy couldn't help but look at her watch, at three in the afternoon the employees should be busy working but why is there no one?
"Where the people go?" Ivy murmured.
Ivy simply used the stairwell to descend, and because she was wearing rubber shoes, her footsteps were muffled.
"You always say that we will recover but until now the company has still crumbled. One more month and we have already been declared bankrupt!" Ivy heard an old man screaming at Edward inside the conference room. If she wasn't mistaken, that man was one of the directors of the company. They were in the glass room and would clearly see who is inside. Ivy couldn't believe what she saw, how could that man threw a bundle of paper at Edward's face as if it were trash.
Ivy couldn't control her anger because of what she saw because for her she was the only one who could bully Edward and no one else but of course except for their mother and grandfather who could also bully him.
Ivy entered the conference room without even bothering to knock. The door was open as if they weren't worried that other employees would see how they treated the company's president.
