Zoom Zoom Zoom

There were some things that took some explaining, once Jay had been inside the pocket dimension, there was little turning back.

Kink took off the Blackout Helmet.

Jay saw Errit's face. "Doesn't seem like anything's wrong with you, why wear the privacy hat?" He still hadn't seen the mask.

"I'm usually wearing this instead." Errit put the hunters mask on, he kept observing Jay while a potion was being mixed in front of him.

Jay cringed for a moment, then let a sigh out. 'I'm always working with weirdos' "That's intimidating.." he said with a strange twinge and a slight shake in his voice. After regaining his composure, Jay started preparing ingredients.

Vinjor bark and Sindula seeds, Juhi and Spectre's Love. He placed them into a mortar and started to crush them down. There was a small lab that Jay had set up, it reminded Errit of the home chemistry sets children would use.

"By adding it to this solution, we can distill it and break down its key components. However, the dregs are important for another medicine." He broke down the theory behind the usefulness of chemical compounds, then he reminded Errit that items stored inside of storage rings kept their temperature and overall state, nearly indefinitely.

"So what you're saying is that if you don't have a use for it now, you might later? won't that accumulate toxins in your ring? I've noticed that the auras coming from rings change from time to time and being exposed to auras does strange things." Errit's concentration was at its fullest.

Jay asked another question instead of answering, "You can see auras?"

"Sure, sometimes I can see them without the mask." Errit took it off and handed it to Jay.

Jay was mystified, no one did things like this. He took the mask from Errit's hands and inspected it. It looked like a regular leather mask, the extra ocular sockets on its face didn't even go all the way through the mask but they seemed alive. He set it down. "Where did you get this? I know you didn't come up with this on your own." He tried it on.

"It was a gift from a Mystic." Errit watched the mask, seeing it put him into a state of pause. It was disconcerting, dizzying a bit, to stand before his presented face. 'No wonder I get such strange reactions.' He had never seen it worn by another, playing with it in his hands didn't do the visualization justice.

"This is amazing, I can't believe this exists. What's it made of?" Jay's question left Errit with no words. "Kink, Let me wear this while I make a potion once... I have to see this in action." Errit nodded and watched along with Lisetya, they each grabbed some paper and started to take notes.

"Interesting." The word came out of his mouth four times in a row before he realized that he wasn't explaining anything as he hovered.

"These patterns are like streaks, a polarized effect happens between the auras keeping them separate, but they do have a point of coalescence, when they converge, they merge. Some of them alter. I can see why you would say that toxins could build up, what a great observation. Its fascinating, I can see the solution changing the broken down ingredients on a cellular level. This mask is amazing, how do I get it to zoom further in?"

Errit paused. 'Zoomed in?' "Zoomed in?" he said after thinking it repeatedly.

"Yeah, it zoomed in. Oh, hold on, I got it. Wow." Jay stopped and took off the mask, passing it back. "That was intoxicating, Wow. What a rush.. I could see everything."

He sat down.

Errit put the mask on, the zoom function had been lost in the exchange. He tried peering in at the potion, It wasn't the same. It didn't matter how hard he looked, he couldn't get it to change. Channeling his power, he sank some of it into the mask, something he had yet to do since sitting in the tree right after receiving it.

"Ah." He let out a sound of a relief and entered the zoom function, his vision was hard to keep focus because he hadn't been looking at the potion during its activation. He saw the dust accumulating on the countertop and then the fingerprints and smudges on the glasses, beakers and vials. When the zoom function finally stabilized, Errit held his head and looked closer at the potion. The auras were easy to see and a great many more than he originally thought.

'I know some of these colors.' Errit saw the solution for what it was, a mixture of attributes, each giving off their distinct aura. The microorganisms, bits of metal, bits of plant material or their loosened properties during the distillation process became clear as cars on the road. "Cool." Errit pulled the power back and regained his full range of sight. The auras were less pronounced, but still visible. 'I wonder if I'll be able to identify them without the mask in the future.' A grim thought passed his mind and he pushed it away.

Lisetya stood idly by waiting for something to happen. She crept closer to Errit and then latched onto his shoulder, experiencing the same colorized vision as he was. Her mass stretched closer to the potion and she slipped off to write notes.

Errit saw everything as it was happening, Jay remained silently aware that it was not a regular occurrence and kept an eye on what was going on.

The Ink Demon pulled a stack of papers out and started imbuing words onto them, it wrote out the potion auras and the colors that it saw, it went into details with drawings. Errit sat down next to Jay, passed him a Ransonor Fruit and bit down on his own. "I like it when she gets like this."

"She?" Jay was still grasping the fact that the black blob was an ink demon, but the fact that the lower demon was writing books instead of curse words and hate speech made him wonder what was going on. Ink Demons were notoriously slanderers, they would write anything to provoke those around them. It was one of the reasons they were listed on the 'Do not release in the Kingdom' black listing.

"So.. This is going to be fun." Jay smiled and then bit into the fruit. He was expecting a pear, maybe something sour but when he felt the energy soaring inside of his body, he froze. Looking down at the fruit he gulped, swallowing the bit he had in his mouth. "This is Ransonor Fruit?"

"Yup." Errit smiled under the mask, but it was easy to tell from his tone. "I get a few hundred a day from the Treants outside. I had originally planned on flooding the market soon, but with this new development I think I have a better idea."

He pulled another white board out and started writing.
