An Official Inquiry

Rubora had been the Chief Depositor for almost a decade, in all his time as boss never once had a situation like this occurred. There were so many people in line with thousands of herbs. His appraisers couldn't keep up with the line that was stacking up and trailing outside of the City. People were getting hot blooded, rocks had already been thrown, Rubora had been hit in the face earlier.

Clutching the Communication Stone he contacted the City Officials and then the Alchemy Department. "There is a new guy in town, I don't know what he's doing but I don't like it. He showed up with thousands of rare herbs, I thought originally that he was a thief. I expected to find multiple appraisers.. about that, I didn't. Instead I found the opposite. All the Appraisal documentation is so perfect it makes my teeth feel freshly cut, some of the information is ground breaking and well, its taking up all of our appraisers. People are starting to look like a riot outside of the Depository. I need more people and someone needs to come and investigate this guy."

-"What's his name?" A voice came over the crystal.

"Kink, He's registered out of Porto De Paulo." The crystal cracked, it was ready to expire. "Send help, or we'll have a riot on our hands soon." Rubora grit his teeth again then stormed out of his office.

There were only about 200 herbs remaining in Errit's pile in the room, he was ready to be paid and out of there. His own turn-in had taken hours and he had the majority of their appraisers in the room for a lot of it.

He tapped his foot, driving the depository clerks and appraisers nuts. '#%!@^!' They cursed inside.

When they had finally finished the suns were going down, Errit started tabulating everything up. The tabulator was exchanged for a larger one when the credits didn't go in properly. There was a 50 million contribution point limit on the smaller, more personal tabulators. He was given a Merchant Tabulator, it was able to go an extra few digits. Feeling somewhat accomplished, he looked at the number, 64 million.

He had gotten so much, and yet, he was not the only one.

Once the appraisers had finished with Errit's transaction, they turned their attentions to the few dozen in the line that had hundreds of Kink's Writs. Going through them all was impossible. The Chief looked in horror while the people outside were growing more frustrated. They started chanting 'No fair, and this is a conspiracy!' None of it phased Errit while he waited. Errit left and went to the bar.

When he found a Metal Esper sitting there, Kink started to chat him up. "I'd like to know, do you make buildings or weapons or what? I've seen some of the Esper's ability to make things." He passed a drink over and left his tabulator out. It was a form of temptation, letting the Ratticus-Jiao hybrid know he wasn't just for show.

"You think money matters. Hmmph. Rich people, doesn't matter what planet your from, they always think they can just wave their wallets around and poof.. people jump to their feet, grateful." He was clearly put off, Errit did what he could for damage control.

"You're from Earth!?" It dawned on him and Errit scoped the man out further. "Okay, I sort of did leave the tabulator out as a means of motivation but you're actually someone I would want to hire. Earth.. Please, I haven't talked to anyone about Earth. Please. Even if you don't want to work, talk. I'll buy you drinks." Errit waved to the bartender and got him to leave several bottles.

"Uhh." He fumbled for a second, then thought about it and shook it off. "Fine. Call me Winters." He grabbed a bottle and started to chug. When he was done, he wiped the excess from his lips and continued. "So what do you want to talk about? You want to know about Earth, Did you come from earth? You're awfully young to be from Earth." He suddenly had a bunch of questions.

Errit started to answer them.

The Depositor Chief had to ask for help, within a few hours of his dispatch someone should have come. He waited, then. A large Bicorned man, he looked more like Centauri and Demonkin, he stood with a shield and some light armor covering his backside. Standing at the end of the line, he let out some of his aura. Gasps and tremors came from those in front of him, he was extremely imposing.

He didn't have to speak, people were getting out of his way as he walked.

Looking down at Rubora, he stomped his rear feet, real official-like. "What is the issue. I've come up all this way, and so far I haven't seen anything out of the ordinary. Explain yourself or deal with the Council when review time comes up." He was irritated, it was very apparent by the scowling look on his face.

"Ayyyy, okay. So, here's what's happening." The chief went over their encounter with Kink and the ten thousand writs he had turned in during a single afternoon. "We can't handle it, its just too many. I was hoping that the Main offices would be able to accommodate a few more appraisers but the day is passing and these people outside are furious." The chief pointed to his head, "They even threw rocks."

The Bicorned Man slapped him again on his head. "Get a grip. This is nothing out of the ordinary, If you don't find a solution for this yourselves, you can just forget about coming back to work." He gripped his shield and walked forward. He scanned the crowd with his senses. "I don't sense malice in the line, I see a bunch of people eager to turn in hard work. You're telling me this is somehow out of control? Just what exactly is out of the ordinary? someone having good eyes?" He wanted to beat the Chief Depositor up a little for his summons but battle in the cities was strictly prohibited.

"You don't understand.." Rubora wanted to make the inquisitor see his perspective but he was failing.

Jay walked out of the depository, he had a skip in his step. 'Wow.. I've never seen so many Contribution Points. This is only the start.. wow. What have I gotten myself into.' Jay looked around at the crowd outside. There were so many people, so many people that wouldn't be seen that afternoon or evening.

He walked to the Bar and found Kink sitting there.

"Brother! SO!.. This is the most amount of CP I've ever even heard of. Did you know they had to give me a new tabulator? Check this out! It goes all the way into the billions!" Jay passed it over.

Errit passed it back. "Payment. Next time, we split the profits like we said. This could be a hard experience, you could walk away now.. I intend to topple everything and take it all."
