Her

Ezekiel raised his eyebrow as he watched the vampires lunge at him. But before they could even reach three meters near him, a whip came out of nowhere slamming half of the vampires against the wall while the rest of the vampires halted in their tracks, stunned by the surprise attack.

A chuckle sounded inside the room, "It's not fair if you take away our fun, Ezekiel"

Aurelia widened her eyes as she whipped her head towards the arched window and saw a woman sitting on the edge of the window, swinging her legs happily and a man standing behind her, watching everything in fervor. At first glance, the man appeared gentle but his eyes told a different story.

Elena grinned widely when her eyes met Aurelia's horrified gaze. She hummed under her breath as she leaped down from the window, landing silently on the ground. She lifted her head, right when she heard Ezekiel's indifferent voice, "Be my guest" Her eyes gleamed as she let out an ecstatic laugh before lunging towards the vampires.

Meanwhile, up on the window, Casper rubbed his temples helplessly as he watched the one sided massacre.

'She really knows how to create a ruckus,' he chuckled inwardly.

"Are you only going to watch?"

Ezekiel's voice floated to his ears making him shift his eyes towards Ezekiel, who was looking at him questioningly.

Immediately his lips curled up as his eyes narrowed dangerously, "Of course not"

Casper leaped into the air and twirled as he took out his dart-quill spikes and killed the vampires around Elena instantly.

"Aww," Elena pouted before turning to scowl at Casper who landed beside her with a smile on his face. She glared at him and snapped, "Don't target my preys"

His smile froze for a second before his lips curled up wryly before taking his position behind her, protecting her back while she protected his back, in return. It was their usual stance after years of fighting together.

He tilted his head and whispered in her ears playfully, "Then, next time you shouldn't take too much time dealing with these rogues"

'Is he insinuating that her attacks have weakened?'

Elena let out a growl in warning, making him chuckle. Her nostrils flared as her eyes turned deadly towards the vampires in front of her and went into attack mode instantly while Casper maintained a small smile on his lips as he focused on cleaning up his front.

Bloody screams and mad laughter reverberated inside the room instantly turning the silent night chaotic. Aurelia gritted her teeth hatefully as she withdrew her gaze and looked at Ezekiel who was waiting for her to attack.

But how could she attack him?

She was only a noble vampire… a noble vampire who was weak without her minions. How could she even think of going against the legion who has been fighting their entire life?

"Why are you so keen on protecting her?"

She furrowed her eyebrows as she snarled disdainfully, "After all, she is only a human… Why are you protecting a human and going against your kind?"

Ezekiel, who was at the other end of the room, appeared beside her instantly and raised his hand to plunge into her chest, ignoring her question. But when his hand was a moment away from piercing her chest, a blade came out of nowhere taking him by surprise. But he reacted swiftly as he quickly moved back and dodged the blade by an inch.

"Hahahaha" Aurelia laughed crazily as she gripped the sword tight in her hands and waved it in his face, "Are you scared?"

"Why would I be afraid of you, a weakling?" Ezekiel scoffed as he struck her wrist, weakening her hold on the sword.Instantly, Ezekiel raised his foot and kicked the sword away before punching her on her chest. Aurelia let out a shrill as her body rammed against the wall harshly before going silent. She lowered her head in surrender as she gazed at the floor desolately.

By the time Elena and Casper cleaned up the rogue vampires, this was the scene they were greeted with, "What? You are still alive?!," Elena gasped

She looked at Ezekiel questioningly but saw his vexed face instead instantly understanding his silence. Her eyes narrowed thoughtfully as she glanced at the human sleeping without any care for her life.

"You should clean this up fast, Ezekiel"

Ezekiel frowned as he turned to Elena, who had already returned to her indifferent self. He would always be surprised by her swiftness in changing in and out of her personality. She became a crazy monster when it came to battles while a calm, indifferent vampire when it came to the rest.

He turned his eyes away from Elena before locking his eyes with Aurelia's hopeless appearance. He snapped his finger and instantly black veins shot out of nowhere, curling up around her hands and legs and lifted her into the air.

"Not me... Are you scared of the king?" she whispered attracting everyone's attention.

A slow yet crazy laugh escaped her lips as Aurelia looked at Ezekiel provocatively.

"I wonder how the king would react when he hears that his favourite person is sheltering a human"

She paused as her eyes narrowed with a mad smile resting on her lips, "And, when he knows that you missed the banquet because of the same human"

Ezekiel narrowed his eyes dangerously while Elena and Casper furrowed their brows.

Before anyone could react to her statement, they heard a strangled groan escape her lips as the veins tighten around her neck.

A cold yet murderous voice resonated inside the room, sending shivers down everyone's spine.

"At first, we came here because you disregarded the rules and acted on your own wishes which brings us to your second mistake." His soft footsteps echoed loudly, making everyone take an unconscious step back.

"Her" The temperature in the room dropped instantly as icicles spewed out from his voice, "You attacked her out of all the humans" Ezekiel smirked as he raised his eyes to meet Aurelia's frightened gaze and growled menacingly, "She is mine"

"And, now about the king…"

Ezekiel let out a low laugh as he sneered, "Well, now you know why you don't live to see the next light"

Aurelia's body grew cold as she struggled under the veins but suddenly, she saw his face appear in front of her, scaring the living daylights out of her, as he gripped her neck hard.

CRACK

The room plunged into silence as Ezekiel slowly landed on the ground looking at his hands in distaste.

"Ezekiel-"

He raised his hand to stop her before throwing a glance at the shocked faces of his friends. He knew what they wanted to ask but he, himself didn't know what to answer them or why he uttered those words. All he knew was, he had to protect her.. protect her with his everything.

"Burn it down" he ordered while he appeared beside Skyla, wrapping her up in his arms safely.

Blue flames enveloped the room as he escaped from the mansion with his friends on tow with him.

"Ezekiel, I can carry her" Casper offered to hold her but took his hand back instantly when he saw Ezekiel dart a cautious glance at him.

Casper exchanged glances with Elena and shrugged helplessly. Elena sighed exasperatedly as she watched Ezekiel carry the human in his arms and disappear into the night. She had a nagging feeling that this human was going to be bad news for them.
