Dangerous

Skyla played with her fingers as she looked everywhere around the room except at the delectable male god, sitting across her, staring at her hard.

Though it was their third meeting, she was only seeing his face clearly now. And much to her awe, he was too perfect…. He had prominent features with his shining silver hair and black eyes which seemed to pierce deep into her soul, leaving a mark. Her throat rumbled when her eyes glazed along his chiseled jaw and his Adam's apple enticing her to trail her fingers along his neck.

Immediately Skyla cleared her throat as if scolding herself for.her indecent thoughts… but she really was shell-shocked deep within. She couldn't believe that she was sitting in front of a deity… a deity who was skilled in heartbreaks.

She refused to look at him as a precaution to herself. She didn't want to make a fool of herself in their first face to face meeting… As the saying goes ' first impression is the best impression' and she intended to leave behind a finest one. So, she clenched her disobedient fingers tight, who were inching to have their way with him.

She sighed internally, 'I don't even have to think about the number of hearts he broke'

Skyla cried for those poor souls as she could feel his dense cold icy aura, just by sitting there. She didn't have to imagine the full burst of it when he was enraged and she, for sure, didn't want to be his reverse scale.

If he hadn't saved her before, she would never have the guts to stay near him or observe him through the corner of her eyes.

It's too scary…

If Xavier read her mind at this very moment, he would have scoffed, 'Break hearts? More like he specialized in breaking bones'

After ages of avoiding his deep gaze, Skyla finally found something to focus on. Her eyes laid upon the side table in the corner of the room, more specifically on the vase of black lilies atop of the table.

It was her first time seeing black flowers though she had heard of them back in her world.

Skyla's eyes widened in fascination when she saw the black lillies that she slowly forgot about the enchanting yet terrifying person in front of her.

Suddenly, a clearing of the throat attracted her attention. She swiftly turned her eyes and met his frigid stare and immediately regretted it.

'Seriously, why is he so handsome?'

A God-like figure was staring at her so hard, if it was before - when she didn't have to go through life and death two days in a row - she would have been ecstatic but now though she felt shy, she was more grateful for this male God who saved her.

But soon upon closer inspection, she found out that the man was not staring but glaring at her making her snap out of her thoughts.

Ezekiel stared at the human who seemed to lose herself in her thoughts every now and then.

"How come you create trouble the moment someone leaves you?" he asked in a low voice, startling Skyla.

'Ah! Even his voice is alluring.' she sighed as she thought, 'Seriously, God has taken all the perfect points and lodged them together into this male species before her, turning him into his best creation'

Ezekiel frowned slightly when he noticed the human glance at him before turning away her gaze instantly. He had heard about the ruckus she had gotten into when he returned from his small mission and he couldn't believe his ears. He was bewildered at the thought of how attractive she was to trouble.

It even led to him thinking whether she would be fine after they left her alone.

But now, looking at the human, he thought, 'Maybe it's because she's dumb?'

Never would Skyla think that the first impression she desperately wanted to leave on him, turned out to be like this.

"Do you like trouble that much?"

Skyla blinked, snapping out of his enchantment when she heard him ask again. Instantly her face crumbled, the joy and awe disappearing in a flash.

'Nevermind… he was not cute'

She pouted her lips and said keeping her gaze on her fingers, "It's not like I enjoy it"

"Really?" She gritted her teeth as she tried her best not to glare at him.

"What makes you think that I like walking close to death?"

Xavier chuckled, "Maybe your actions"

Skyla whipped her head towards the vampire and glared at him eliciting a laugh out of him, 'As long as it was not him, I am okay'

Xavier watched her movements in interest and soon noticed how she refused to look at Ezekiel..more like avoided. He raised his eyebrow in interest.

She harrumphed, "You can't blame me"

Ezekiel noticed her strangeness just like the others and his frown deepened. Displeasure brewed inside him and before he knew it, the words had slipped out of his mouth, "Look at me" startling everyone in the room.

Skyla flinched as she instantly looked at him, completely forgetting about her resolve.

"Why are you avoiding me?" he asked with a deep frown on his face making Skyla blink her eyes stupidly.

'Obviously because I don't want to act on my wishes'

But she could feel displeasure rolling out of his body making her sigh, 'Nevermind'

She looked at him in surrender and became aware of how her heart pounded inside her chest as her eyes laid on him. Feeling his persistent stare, her lips parted open subconsciously, "It's because you are too dangerous"

Hearing her answer, Ezekiel turned grim for some reason, "Dangerous?"

Skyla nodded her head seriously, "Dangerous for my heart"

'Huh?' Ezekiel frowned at her but surprise took over him immediately when he heard her next words, "You are too handsome. Don't you know how dangerous that is for a maiden?"

Ezekiel looked at her dumbfoundedly. Never in his entire life had someone called him dangerous for being handsome… It was a first for him.

Instantly he heard her sorrowful voice, "I can fully see with my own eyes how ethereal vampires are"

Her statement stunned everyone inside the room that they didn't know whether they should laugh or cry.

She sounded envious while the vampires had always considered their identity as sin. She was somehow making it sound beautiful, making them smile slightly.

Ezekiel's brows twitched in response and he fought to suppress the smile that threatened to bloom on his face.

He looked at the human, who looked disheartened and shook his head. Ignoring her statements, he introduced himself, "I'm Ezekiel and these are my friends - Elena and Casper" pointing to the people.

Skyla straightened her posture and immediately shifted her eyes to the people who had rescued her earlier and smiled. Her eyes sparkled when she glanced at Elena and said, "You are so cool"

Elena looked perturbed by her strange admiration that she rubbed her nose in embarrassment. Ezekiel paused for a second, watching her reactions before he looked at Xavier and said, "I believe you have already met him"

She glanced at Xavier who immediately winked at her playfully and her expression crumbled making him freeze in spot. 'What happened?'

She puffed up her cheeks and said pointedly, "You never came" Liar

Xavier blinked, not prepared for the accusation but soon his confusion cleared up when he felt a stern cold gaze lock onto him.

"You were not there when I came back"

Skyla retorted, "As if you couldn't find me quickly.. That means you came late"

Xavier pursed his lips guilty, knowing all too well that she was right. But just as he was about to counter, he felt Ezekiel's gaze turn icier making him cry inside, 'What is with these people'

Skyla turned away from the doctor and looked at the irresistible, cold guy who was exhibiting cold waves in the room and smiled, "Hi… Thank you for saving me twice… My name is Skyla"

Skyla...

Ezekiel's expression cooled down upon hearing her name and nodded briskly, "Let's not aim for the third time"

Skyla chuckled sweetly making all the vampires stare at her as if she was a monster. Noticing all their weird stares, she asked, "What?"

Elena looked at Casper before both of them turned to Ezekiel who was rubbing his fingers together - the motion he does subconsciously when he is lost in thoughts.

'Why isn't this human scared of them?'

If Skyla heard them, she would have said like all those vampire fanatics, "You are good people" It was as simple as that - there were good vampires as well as bad vampires just like humans.

And, she honestly truly believed that this male God before her belonged to the good category… or hoped at least.

Ezekiel narrowed his eyes at her thoughtfully. He did hear from Xavier that she doesn't seem to know anything about their identity nor the place she was in. He even vividly described how shocked she was when she learnt their identity. But for some reason, looking into those brown eyes, he couldn't help but doubt her.

So, he asked, "How did you arrive in Zaria City?"
