Better Off Dead

Ezekiel scurried out of the room as if he was being chased by a demon. He could still feel the warmth he felt when her fingers touched her cheek. Electricity coursed through his body, agitating his still heart when her fingers touched his lips.

He let out a deep breath and looked up to find himself standing on the balcony. His feet had somehow subconsciously brought him here. He ruffled his hair frustratedly as he was quite disturbed by what happened before.

'So soft…'

Her voice kept ringing in his ears making him grit his teeth hard. He pulled at his collar irritably as he thought, 'It was just her blood that threatened me before yet now her voice was doing the same.'

'What on world is she'

She was like an enchantress - born to ruin him, captivating him under her spell. All she had to do was wave her finger and he would gladly place the world in her hands.

He was barely controlling his ravenous soul - deprived from tasting blood for centuries - from attacking her back in the room yet all she had to do was touch him and he couldn't control himself.

'Pathetic'

He felt pathetic... pathetic that a human could tempt him to break his vow.

He clenched his fists and punched the wall in anger, leaving a dent mark on the wall. Ezekiel panted heavily as he stared at the dent mark he made and scoffed, "So much for training vigorously for all these centuries" making up his mind to increase his training.

He dusted his hand and turned around just when Casper and Elena appeared at the door. Their eyes widened slightly when they saw his ruffled clothes and the dent on the wall.

It was as if they read each other's minds. They conveniently ignored the dent and his state as they asked him, "Do you really believe her words, Ezekiel?"

Ezekiel turned away from him as his brows furrowed, deep in concentration as he answered honestly, "I do"

Casper tutted under his breath exasperatedly and retorted, "But -"

Ezekiel cut him off as he said, "I believe that she doesn't know what she is and that she doesn't know how she entered our city"

Elena looked at him as she waited to hear the 'but' and right as she thought, he uttered, "But.." His face turned instantly cold as he said, "She's hiding something from us… something which would explain all these strange events"

Casper scratched his chin as he asked, "How can you believe her then?" A human at that...

Ezekiel pursed his lips and remained silent.

How can he answer that? He just knew… It was more like..blind faith?

Ezekiel frowned, not liking how he blindly believed a human. It was just as he thought...she was dangerous to him. If another opportunity arose, he didn't know what other terrifying secrets he would discover about himself and show her.

Casper rolled his eyes at his stubborn silent attitude and asked again, "How are you adamant that she is hiding something?"

"Isn't that obvious, idiot?" Xavier, who had followed them, appeared by the door, leaning against it languidly while his eyes were on Ezekiel, who ignored him.

"She was awfully surprised by our identities nor did she know the name of our city. She acted rather strange right from her arrival till she discovered the existence of werewolves"

He knotted his eyebrows as he said in confusion, "It was as if she was seeing it all for the first time and -" a strange yet curious expression crossed his face as he continued, "She seemed too accepting of us and that's dubious"

Casper tilted his head and asked, "Why?"

Isn't it good that one human accepted us instead of screaming?

Yet from their looks, he could discern that no one was grateful to her accepting them so readily.

Suddenly a smack landed on him, making him cry out loud and immediately he heard an irritated voice, "Seriously, do you lose brain cells as years pass by?"

Casper clutched his head as he looked at Elena who harrumphed and turned her head away.

Xavier shook his head as he pointed his finger at Casper and asked Ezekiel, "Seriously, Ezekiel, where did you find him?"

Ezekiel ignored his sarcasm and inquired calmly, "So, what are you trying to say?"

Xavier squinted his eyes and replied, "I have come down to two conclusions.. If it is the former, then it's all good but if it's the latter -"

He stopped, as a bloodcurdling smile grazed his pretty features, instantly distorting his beautiful face, "She would wish she was better off dead"

The tension around them sizzled as everyone looked at Ezekiel, waiting for his orders.

After what seemed like ages, they heard him utter, "What do you have in plan?" and they smiled ecstatically.

...….

*GROWLLL*

Skyla groaned as she laid on the bed, clutching her growling stomach.

'Why weren't they back yet?'

She had been waiting for a long time since they left to grab something to eat. Yet she didn't dare to head downstairs after what happened earlier.

She didn't want to knock on the death's door twice in the same day.

She gasped as she sat up instantly, "Damn.. they wouldn't forget about me being human and decide to starve me, right?" But in the next moment, she shook her head to herself, "No no… they are not that cruel…. Right?"

Skyla pressed her lips as she rubbed her growling stomach. Should she just head downstairs?

But right as she thought about this, the door opened instantly making her leap right out of her bed and exclaim in joy, "My food"

However her smile froze when she faced a stunned Casper who blinked at her with his hand on the door knob.

'My food?'

Skyla immediately glanced at his hands, looking for the tray he should have brought with him. Yet his hands were empty, instantly dampening her mood.

'How dare they…'

She clenched her trembling fists tight as she glared at the vampires angrily. If she had some superpower, then Casper would have been burnt from the flames emitted from her eyes.

Casper's lips twitched when he saw this kitten excitedly jump from her bed, turning furious instantly. He could even see an invisible tail, all flared up behind her as she glared at him with those furious eyes.

He suppressed his smile and said, "I'm sorry to keep you waiting but we can go now" He paused slightly, a curious glint passed through his eyes as he cleared his throat slightly and said calmly, "You must be hungry"

Immediately, he saw how the irritable kitten smoldered down and glanced at him with her sparkling eyes, her tail wagging rapidly as if her initial displeasure didn't happen.

He covered his mouth to cover the smile that was threatening to show on his face.

'Too cute'

He felt a force against his shoulder, as she walked past him and turned her head and said happily, "Well, come on"
