Who Hit Him?

"I was reaching out to the police to stop investigating first. But this case could be a hit and run. Sean's parents investigating everything, help too."

Louie delivered the news as Friya parted her lips slightly. She turned her head towards the cell phone that was ringing at its loudest on the rack. By the hood of her car, it was vibrating at midday. She's irritated with it.

Every second, she's bombarded with many calls from the police station. It was making her mind to lost its sense, the sanity that's left behind. Even if she tried to explain what happened in the accident, for Sean's sake, no one will try to understand her.

Sean's relationship with her ended in its 10th year. She wasn't in control of destiny. No matter what the cost was, if the destiny wanted both of them to separate, it was god's will.

"The one who hit him might not know it. I don't want to get involved with him again." She may sound pathetic, but it's the truth. If she ever wanted to be with him again, she would try to do so today.

She slid the end call button of her cell phone. She pressed the power button and turned it off. Friya breathed, leaning back with her head on the headrest. The bright weather outside was contradicting with her devastated eyes.

"Sean's mind might lose his memories within, but his heart would treasure it forever." Louie replied in an agonized tone. He stared out at the afternoon bliss of the day. The outside of the hospital was busier than usual. An ambulance car stopped in front of the emergency room, the doctors and nurses came out. As fast as lightning.

"Why not try to talk to him for the second time?" Louie suggested. Though he knew it was impossible. Sean's parents were barricading him, swaying him to pursue Feline even if he was in a relationship.

Friya retorted back, "Do you think I need to? Feline was there. She could fill in my spot. Besides, she's the genuine lover now."

She emphasized that word with rage. Louie turned to her, stared at the mirror, and saw the tears in her eyes. Friya furrowed her eyebrows. She still doesn't understand a thing.

"Do you think Sean would be happy to know that you weren't fighting? Your love for him was the real one. Fight for it." Louie argued. He knew in that statement Friya's triggered mind would wake.

Friya retorted back, "Do you think I'm not trying to do it? We broke up before everything happened, Louie. The two of us separated before he smashed into the car. We fought before I knew it."

Her tears streamed down from her cheeks as Louie averted his eyes. Friya continued, "Do you think I would let him go if I had known? I wouldn't, Louie."

She sniffed, the tears rolled. She's been there, she's naïve but sweet girlfriend for him.

Why did he have to look for another woman? Do Friya lacks something?

"Feline was the mistress, and you knew it." She noted. At a moment's reflection, she considered being understandable. Feline was a gorgeous woman. Compared to her, she's intelligent. Friya was only an average person.

She can handle minuscule arguments but couldn't stand bigger ones. Feline was the otherwise. She could get out of a massive argument in one flick of her tongue. Nothing compared to Friya, who always found herself stuck in the room's edge. Crying her bald eyes out.

"She's a generous woman I'd known. I don't know how she could do it," Louie replied. He's annihilated to hear the news, too.

Friya slapped the steering wheel and affirmed, "Feline was our co-worker. You knew I had worked with her for special occasions. Especially, if there were special segments for our own radio shows."

She shook her head. Louie looked only on his lap. He was listening to her. This was the only thing he could do. He could be Friya's leaning shoulder whenever she wanted.

"She fell in love with my lover. It's not a crime to fall in love after all. I took that as a consideration since the beginning. Our relationship together only destined no longer than ten years," she babbled out. Louie turned to him. He observed her nails scraping at the sleeves of the steering wheel.

She's stooping her head down low. Friya's blaming herself for everything that happened.

"If I didn't say that thing, maybe he's still waiting at the back of our house. His memories were still intact. His body was still fine," Friya blurted, with her palms gripping the wheel rigorously.

"His love would still be mine."

Friya broke out into a howling woman after she said those words. Louie quickly moved in his seat and placed his hands on the back of her head. Friya sobbed, her shaking shoulders was what Louie soothed out. Louie clenched his jaw.

...

"Make a promise with me, Sean."

Louie's voice uttered as the surrounding trees rustled around the area. Sean halted in his tracks. He turned halfway, his head angled to the side. His right dimples shown off as he beamed.

It was the year 2011. The humid air was the same as the yesterday's, no doubt. Louie wanted those kinds of weather to treat Friya out in the nearest noodle food cafeteria.

In this time, they would laugh off with their sip. The noodles served hot; the steam lasted longer. Cafeteria will fill in her laughs and cool. Louie was the number one joker.

But today was different.

"You confessed to her on this day. And she accepted you as her boyfriend," Louie spoke up. Sean turned around to face him. He fixed his hands innocently on his side.

"I'll do everything you say. I know Friya's one of the most important people in your life, Louie," Sean told. He treasured every person who Friya loves. And he would take the promise that Louie made.

"Don't hurt her. Make sure she doesn't get hurt."
