Chapter 10

Damien pov:

I gave Emilia a brief kiss and took off headed for the tavern for some much needed drinking. I got there got my alcohol and sat outside. Then a drunken man stumbled out barely able to walk straight. I hadn't noticed who it was until they were standing infront of me. It was Emilia's father. William as he was known.

"I hope there's a reason your putrid mortal body is infront of me."

I said to him my wooden cup in hand.

"You...you took my child...you bastard." He said in a slightly agitated tone.

"Yes so?"

I asked him.

"I am going to hit you in those perfect teeth of yours you heretic!"

He said as he raised his voice.

"Don't think you want to do that now. You'll regret it the moment you try it."

I warned him knowing full well he was about to make a very foolish decision.

He swung at me and I ducked then swiped at his feet leaving him on the ground.

"I told you. Now stay down." I said to him as I got up and began walking away.

He got up of course being in his drunken state.

"This time if you fall down you're staying down." I said not facing him.

He picked up an axe off the ground and charged at me. I simply dodged by instinct and plunged my hand into his chest and pulled out his beating heart. He started bleeding out and blood came from his mouth.

"That's for hurting Emilia you savage brute." I said to him as I tossed his heart to the ground.

Then I heard a door slam and turned to look. I had been seen. I had to flee but I needed to take Emilia with me.

She must never find out of what transpired here.

I thought to myself as I sprinted to her. I banged incessantly on the door. She opened the door and I entered with haste.

"Emilia. We have to go now."

I said as I checked outside to make sure they hadn't arrived yet.

"Why? What's happening?"

She asked me while looking completely confused.

Time to come up with a good lie.

"A villager saw us practising magic and now they want to burn us on stakes."

I never usually lie to Emilia but this time I had to.

"I can't go. Not without my father."

She told me.

"Emilia if you trust me you'll do this one thing. I can't leave you at the mercy of that beast. I beg you. Please come with me."

I told her.

"Damien...I can't. Not without my father."

She explained.

"Emilia he's the one leading the villagers." I told her and she looked at me with disappointment.

She seemed to lose all the light in her eyes. Like her heart broke at my words. I quickly seized the moment and grabbed her by the arm and dragged her through the forest as fast as possible. We ran at speeds I never before comprehended. Once we were a safe distance from the village the fire I started at my cabin began to show. The smoke towering over the forest.

"We'll find a village where we'll be happy. I promise you this my love. Now let us go." I said to her in hopes of cheering her up.

We wondered the forest for days. No food. No currency. No weapons. We eventually stumbled on a celtic village. It was a quiet place west from the village we had fled from. We began our new lives here.

**

Fast forward almost precisely 9 months. Emilia and I were happy. With a baby on the way any day now. Everything seemed perfect. I was never one to believe in signs or omens the same could be said for Emilia but the day of our child's birth that changed.

"Damien!!! The child is coming!!"

She yelled in pain.

I quickly ran into the village and took some of the midwives to help with the delivery of the child. They took quick action. I won't go into details. All I can say is when our child was born. The sky turned a curious shade of red. Crows circled our house. And most curious of all was the disembodied voice echoing all through the village.

"Today a celestial marvel has been born of mortal blood. He will be destined for great things." The disembodied voice echoed.

I would swear the entire village was scared of my child. We named the boy Samael. It seemed to be a fitting name. Holding this little being in my hands was the best moment of my entire immortal life.

"Welcome to the world Samael." I said to him

His mother rested after having spent the entire day giving birth to him. It was odd Samael didn't cry once but he was very much alive. It only proved what the disembodied voice said

He is destined for great things.

I thought to myself. I mean the voice wasn't entirely wrong. It just didn't elaborate as to whether they were good or bad. Unfortunately for Emilia and I we found out the hard way.

As years passed Samael began to grow. We discovered he possessed magic and abnormal speed, strength and intellect. He was a very twisted boy. He'd skin rats and keep their skeletons as trophies. I simply thought it was the makings of a warrior.

When Samael turned the age of 10. Something very horrible happened. It was late at night and we heard a crash outside. We all awoke to the loud sound. I was unaware I was going to have to battle celestial beings for my own son. It turns out one of the Gods sent these angels to 'collect' Samael to help fulfill his destiny.

"Return to your own plain of existance and leave my family be. Tell your God my son isn't going anywhere. I sired him and that makes him my own. Not of his creation. He has no dominion over him. Now LEAVE!!!"

I told them. They refused.

I only wish I had the strength to fight off two celestial beings but I was too weak to fight both of them simultaneously. They took my son and went with him to their God. Emilia and I were devastated. The next years were hard on both of us. Emilia was angry and hurting. I put on a brave face for her sake but she thought that me losing my son didn't affect me. If only she knew. Every morning when I left to hunt I would mame any creature in sight and curse to the skies. Cursing at that so called deity for abducting my son.

I was angry no infact I was furious and the worst thing was I couldn't do anything about it.
