Chapter 16

Tonight would be Josh and my engagement ceremony. It was a small event attended by close relatives and friends only. I was standing at my room's balcony looking down at everyone. I was fully dressed in my engagement gown. How I wished my parents were here to bless this event. I miss them very much.

When the time came, Aom knocked on the door.

"You look very beautiful today, Miss Sabrina." complimented Aom when she saw me.

"Thank you, Aom." I replied.

"I wish you happiness forever with Master Josh. Both of you are match made in heaven." she continued.

Then she escorted me down to the garden. There were butterflies in my stomach. I hold onto her hand tightly while we walked down the stairs. She put her other hand on mine to reassure me. I smiled at her.

Master Lim, Aunt Helen, Chen and Henry were already in the garden. They were sitting at the first table.

Everyone stood up when they saw me coming.

Josh looking gorgeous in his black tuxedo, was standing on the pavilion in the middle of the garden.

The pavilion was specially built for this event. Josh designed it himself. He was actually very good in drawing and designing. Our names were engraved on top of the pavilion.

Josh turned around to look at me. Our eyes met and I can feel electricity in the air. His eyes sparkled and he smiled at me from a far.

A Buddhist monk was standing beside him. The monk was here to bless and be the main witness of our engagement.

Josh took hold of my hand when I reached his side.

"You are as beautiful as an angel." compliment Josh.

I smiled sweetly at him and we turned towards the Buddhist monk.

The monk read the blessing mantra to bless our engagement. After the blessing mantra, Josh and I were officially engaged.

We walked around the garden to greet all the guests. Then we proceeded to the main table to join the rest of our family members for a dinner feast.

Halfway through dinner, Josh stood up and went up the pavilion. He wanted to read me a poem which he wrote the night before. Everyone clapped. I waited patiently to listen to the content of the poem.

This was how the poem went:

To my dear Sabrina, the love of my life,

You came unexpectedly into my life,

Like a ray of sunshine,

keeping me warm during the cold nights,

giving me joy during my sorrow,

You were always there through thick and thin,

Now I will become your protector,

Protecting you from any harm or sorrow,

Giving you happiness eternally,

Loving you with all my heart,

Now and forever,

Faithfully yours,

Josh Lim.
