Chapter 3

Eni and the demon looked at me confused, that's when I saw it, I realized it wasn't him. They did look really alike but I can clearly see the differences now.

I hope the demon hasn't bewitched me or something, I can't believe I'm seeing him in other people.

I face palmed internally.

"I'm so sorry! I thought you were someone else" I said sheepishly. The anger had dialed way down and was replaced with embarrassment.

Tobi smiled and then sat down *damn, was he fine!!*

He said teasingly "Oh that's great, I'm happy that 'I'll kill you look' wasn't actually meant for me."

I smiled sheepishly and went back to eating, while he ordered his food, Eni leaned in and said teasingly " Ese you so owe me gist, who is the guy that has got you all worked up?"

"It's nothing,just an annoying jerk" I said trying to dismiss the conversation,while knowing I'll still end up telling her about the demon soon.

Tobi's attention came back to us and Eni went back to sitting properly, while giving me the 'we will talk about this later' look. I rolled my eyes

"So,hi again,I'm Tobi" he said looking amused. I chuckled and said "I'm Ese, nice to meet you."

"So Ese...that's a Delta name right?" he questioned.

The fact that he knew Ese was also a Delta name was impressive,he was from the west and they usually knew very little about southerns.

I answered, "Actually,I'm from Benin, it's a Benin name as well as Delta."

"That's cool,what does it mean? " he questioned further.

Before I could answer,Eni said while frowning at Tobi "Hey! You are making me feel like a bad friend"

He started laughing and Eni continued while looking at me "I thought you were from Delta,cause I had a friend named Ese,and she was Urhobo."

I laughed and said "Its totally fine, people make the assumption all the time."

Tobi questioned again "So does it still mean gift in Benin? "

"Em kinda, but more like an act of kindness."

Eni butted in and said to Tobi giving him an irritated look "What are you trying to prove now,Mr i know everything" She teased

"Eni shush,it's not my fault you don't want to know anything,Learn now, no! You want to tease innocent me." Tobi said while trying not to laugh

Eni gave him an I'll kill you look and said "Tobi, you are lucky we are in a public place, I would have poured your plate of food on your head"

She looked at him deviously and continued "You know me, I'll actually do it" she tried to give a straight face, but it was almost breaking into a laugh, before I knew it, they started laughing.

Tobi managed to say amidst the laughing "Eni actually did that before, she's not sane, run while you still can"

I started laughing too, Eni was such a drama queen

"Oluwatobi!!! " She said in a deadly low voice

" You want to die, abi? Who did you call insane?", she said while trying to go across the table to reach Tobi

Tobi noticing what she was about to do said " Eni baby, chill now, I'm sorry, you are very sane, you should learn how to take a joke "

That stopped her and she leaned back into her sit "Nice save" She teased

And we all started laughing again

"I've missed you Eni, so much!" Tobi said with a smile

"Of course you did, your life must have been so dry and gloomy without me" She joked

"Yea, yea" he said while laughing

"Missed you too" She said sheepishly

They were so cute, I can't believe they aren't in a relationship, I really don't get it and it is beyond obvious they like each other, but it's me, I have never been in a relationship, so, what do I know.

After talking for a while, I realized that I just might have made two awesome friends and uni was going to be awesome from here onwards.

Around 4:15, we left the food court and Tobi drove us to the faculty of management science, the class was an elective so we had the lecture in another faculty. The class was nice, learnt a lot and the lecturer was amazing. *I will always look forward to this class*, I said to myself, despite the fact that it ends late.

It's 7 o clock, I and Eni are at the entrance of the faculty looking for a cab to get us home, we have been here for almost 30 minutes and we were getting frustrated.

Few seconds later a flashy looking car came to a halt close to us, I know very little about cars but,I knew this one was beyond expensive.

I hope it's not Mudia, my brother can be overly protective, I can't believe him,we talked about this!!

I was about to angrily hit the window of the car and basically just yell, when the right front window lowered and I saw the Yoruba demon.

Really!!!?,this school is so big but apparently, it's not big enough for the both of us, I keep seeing him everywhere.

"Em Ese? What are you doing in my faculty? this late too..." The demon questioned.

I ignored him, he turned to Eni and said "Hi, I'm Seyi, I guess you guys need a ride? "

Eni who had already deduced that this was the Seyi AKA The Yoruba demon I told her about, gave me a devious look and said "Oh, thanks so much, just give us a sec."

She dragged me away from the car and said in a pleading tone"Ese, the guy is offering us a ride, it's about to rain and I'm tired "

I gave her a look and said "He could be a ritualist for all we know!" I kinda screamed and the demon obviously heard,I'm absolutely sure he has been listening in to this not so private conversation.

I turned to him and saw the hurt expression on his face,but he quickly covered it with his signature smile.

I gave him and obviously fake smile and went back to Eni who was giving me a look I couldn't decipher

And then I heard him "I promise I'm not a ritualist, I just want to help and it's fine if you guys don't want it"

Ese gave me a look that basically said accept his help,I looked back at the demon and said to myself, *it's just a ride.*

I gave him a smile and said, "We accept your offer,thanks."

The demon smiled,I hate that he got what he wanted.

I reached for the back seat door handle but Eni hurriedly opened it before I could and immediately the rain started to pour and I ended up at the front sit with the Yoruba demon.

It was quiet until the demon broke the silence by saying "You didn't get to answer my question"

We both know I blatantly avoided it, I guess he's still trying to act all saint-like, so he decided to make it seem like all was well.

"We have an elective class here" I said,just so I won't be labeled as the rude one.

"Oh,that's nice" he said sheepishly

"Yea..." this was so awkward,and then Eni who apparently hates awkwardness,saved us and said "So seyi,what department are you in? "

"Business administration" he said, and Eni continued "what year? "

He replied "I'm in my final year" and then he glanced at me

Eni wasn't near done, she continued "You have an accent,you are obviously Nigerian,so did you live abroad or something? "

"Yea I did,was born and raised in UK and I schooled there too. I actually just transferred here a few weeks ago" he said, with his eyes on the road .

I looked at him and wanted to ask why,but I decided against it. I was hoping Eni would, but she didn't but said "That explains it, so have you been to Nigeria before now? "

Eni was totally prying but I really didn't mind, I surprisingly wanted to know, looking at him he didn't even seem a little bit uncomfortable.

I guess he liked talking about himself. Arrogant jerk! I rolled my eyes, but then I realized the way he answered the questions weren't like he was proud or anything and then my line of thoughts were broken by his answer.

"I have actually, a couple of times " he said.

Eni pushed my seat slightly and I turned to look at her only to see she was giving me a thumbs up and to say I was confused was an understatement. I went back to looking at the road, that's when I realized the demon was looking at me but he quickly looked away when he saw that I noticed.

After a few minutes, we got to I and Eni's street and me not wanting the demon to know specifically where we lived, told him to drop us at the beginning of the street which he did without asking questions.

"Thanks for the ride, we really appreciate it" Eni said with a smile and then hit me discretely and gave me a look and I said, "Yea... Thanks"

He gave me a weak smile and said "You're welcome"

I felt bad, maybe I have been a bit too harsh.

He continued "I'm hosting a small party at my place on Saturday, would you guys like come? "

I already felt like crap for treating him so badly and acting so rude so I said, "Yea sure, I'll be there, I don't know about Eni though"

Eni looked surprised that I actually said yes before she quickly said "Definitely, I'll be there"

Seyi looked just as surprised but trust me, nobody was more surprised than myself.

Seyi seemed all bright now "Can I get your number? So I can send you the details"

"Oh, okay" I said sheepishly

He gave me his phone and I typed my number, like my actual number!! What am I doing?! Who freaking possessed me?!? I can't believe my guilt has turned me into this.

He smiled at me and said, "Good night Ese, see you at the party" he waved at Eni and drove off.

"Well, I guess the talk I was about to give regarding how much Seyi likes you and is nice guy is no longer needed." Eni said while we walked down the street

I said giving her a look, "I only said yes to the party cause I felt like I maybe was a little too rude, I still think he is a player"

Eni gave me a knowing look and said, "Yea, keep telling yourself that"

That's when I got a text
