In The Clouds

Mason leaned against the wooden mast and scanned the skies around him.  Nick moved until they were sitting back to back, facing away from one another so no angle would be missed.  It was a surreal place to be.  No matter which way they looked, even up and down, they could see nothing but the hazy white-grey bank of fog.  Even the second mast wasn't visible, and it was closer to them than the deck.

It was almost like something out of a bad dream, and Mason had to focus on his breathing and try to keep himself calm.  His mind was slowly beginning to run away with him though, thinking up frightening scenarios and making him imagine he was lost and alone.

Well... not quite alone... Nick was still there.

Not that it would do Mason any good.  The man would likely leave him behind if he had the chance.
