Massive Rats

The fireball in a way would serve as a beacon to the soldiers, their chasers but at this moment, she could not care less. The fireball had revealed some massive rats which were circling around them. Each one had bright red eyes and they were easily the size of a large dog or some were the size of a small dog.

As she looked around, Pavitra quickly counted that there were twelve of them, with the largest of them all standing a the back. It was massive and had black fur unlikeit the others which all had grey fur.

Pavitra couldn't help but feel disgusted while looking at them.

Then she asked the general, "What are they? I have never seen them before?"

The general just shrugged his soldiers as he and all of the soldiers alongside Pavitra formed a circle, this was so that they could not be surprised and attacked from the back. Then the black rat let out a massive screech.

The grey ones all rushed in at once.

Pavitra focused on the one that was rushing towards her, as it got to about a few paces away, it jumped up at her. Its claw's outstretched ready to claw her to death. Pavitra just looked confused for a second, then slashed up with her sword. Cutting the belly of the rat open.

With a loud, "Screech!" It fell to the floor. It was moving around a bit on the floor. So she quickly took a step forwards and killed it almost instantly before drawing back into the circle. The black blood of the rate was dripping off of her sword, and she felt disgusted by it. Even its blood was disgusting. As she looked around, she saw that no one had sustained any kind of injury and had all killed the grey rats with ease. Now all that was left was the black one.

Its eyes seeing its brethren be killed had got even redder and all of its hairs were standing on end.

Pavitra took a step out of the circle, carefully watching it. "This rat is mine."

Like it could understand her, the rat screeched out and charged forwards. It was way faster than its brethren.

Almost instantly it had reached her, but instead of jumping up. It carried on running across the floor. Pavitra used to the tricks of humans in fights, wasn't surprised by the rat and instead muttered quietly and ran her hand across the blade of her sword, then it lit up in flame. Burning the black blood of the rat that was already on there/

The moment the rat was close enough, she slashed down aiming to cut it clean in half. The rat though, was like anticipated this and then darted to the side avoiding her sword. Though it screeched loudly as the fire of her sword burned its side.

Annoyed a not killing this beast instantly, she reacted quickly and slashed to the side. The black this time was unable to react fully and soon enough had lost its head. The smell of burned flesh soon was filling up the alley,

Pavitra scrunched her nose at the smell and carried on looking down at them.

"So why do you think they are so big?" She asked everyone around, they all were looking at the rats weirdly.

It was the general who spoke first, "Maybe with the state of the city they all appeared but only live in the alleys like this one. Away from everyone." His guess was as good as anyone's, to be honest.

Pavitra looked up at the fireball, she had sent into the sky. It was beginning to fade away. Soon enough they all would be covered in the darkness once more and who knows what hides in the dark…

She had them all pile the rat's into a big pile in the center. As a soldier moved the black rat, he pointed out the claws which were shinning a little. "I think it is some kind of poison? Lucky you were not scratched, your highness."

Pavitra feeling a little pressured after hearing that. Then seeing as they all were gathered up, she quickly sent a wave of fire, billowing out onto them all.

As they walked away, she could smell the burnt flesh as it washed over the whole city. Or at least over the district that they were in.

The group kept on looking around as they all walked on, no one wanted to be surprised by those rats again. Then as they carried on walking, they all came out into the street. Looking around the general quickly worked out where they were.

"This is the residential district. Your soldiers will be around here somewhere." Pavitra felt grateful that he was with them, if not she doubted if she would be able to get around the city in the first place.

Then as she looked around, she heard some laughter come from the right. As she looked that way she could see nothing but at the same time, she could still hear the noise. Quickly she made up her mind and began to lead the group i the direction.

As they came around the corner, she saw Shourya sitting with some soldiers. They were laughing about something or other. Not that she really cared at that moment in time.

"Lieutenant Shourya!" Hearing his voice yell, he turned around. As soon as he saw Pavtra, he shot out of his chair. Then he saw the red and black blood that was covering her.

"Your highness, what happened?" He was concerned clearly and yet Pavitra quickly realised that none of them had noticed the gate being blown off.

"The Count is a traitor and tried to have me killed or worse…Get me Pallavi. We are sezing the city!" Her words stunned him into silence but then he was face was replaced with fury. The soldiers who were with him, all stood up with there faces covered in fury as well.

For them all this was now personal. Pavitra was there leader. She was also like a goddess to most of them and there idol.

No one could harm her.
