"Is that Gray?" I asked Ash as I stared at the wolf nervously.
"Yup, it sure is," he said as he patted the wolfs head. "Now do you see what I mean by you can change any time? Well, as long as you don't do it in a public area you'll be fine. We don't need people hunting us down."
I walked a little closer to Ash but stopped a few feet in front of him. I was still worried about the wolf that was once a human.
"So when you change are you in control or does the wolf part take over?" I asked hoping for the right answer.
"Not exactly. You have to learn over time to take control of the wolf. And once you do you'll be able to do what Gray did here," he said patting Grays head again. Gray gave out a loud snort and I laughed.
"You can also understand people as well?" I asked.
"People and other dogs and wolves," Ash said. "Once you get to the right stage we will help you with everything so it's not so hard on you. Alright, I'm gonna leave you guys out here, I have to go clean the house a bit before everyone gets back."
Ash walked back into the house and left me and Gray alone in the back. When I saw that Ash was back in the house I looked over to where Gray was standing, but he was gone. Before I could look around I felt something cold and wet touch my hand. I looked down and saw Gray staring up at me. Now that he was beside me I got to see just how tall he was. He nudged my hand and I decided to pet him. When I moved to scratch him behind his ear he fell to the ground. I let out a laugh.
"Who knew a werewolf could even have a good spot," I said as I continued to scratch his ear.
After a few minutes Gray forced himself away and stood up. He gave me a snort and shook his body to get the dirt out of his fur. He the stared at me and snorted again. I looked at him confused. He walked behind me and gave me a push.
"Hey what was that for?" I asked him.
He looked up at me and sat down. He snorted again.
"You want me to sit on the ground?" I asked him.
He gave another snort so I took that as a yes. I sat down on the ground and looked back at Gray. He sat back up and walked over to me. Before I could react he sat on my legs then flopped down on his side, pinning me to the ground.
"Oh god, your heavy," I said struggling to move. "Gray your weirding me out with this. You're a human, but in a wolf body so this is just weird."
I tried to move him but he wouldn't budge, it was like he was made of steel. Before I could try and move him again I heard the back door open. I look beside me and see Ash holding it open.
"Ah, I see he has pinned you down. Hold on I got a solution," he said going back into the house.
Before I could call out to him Cujo came running out the door over to where we were. Gray immediately got up and started running after Cujo. I looked over to Ash and mouthed your welcome to me before closing the door again. I look back to Gray and Cujo and see that they are both looking at me. I go to walk over to them but as soon as I moved they both simultaneously got low to the ground. I stopped dead in my tracks.
"What are you two doing?" I asked before slightly moving again.
When I moved again they both started running in circles around me before stopping dead in their tracks again. It was then I realized what they were doing. So I went along with it. They kept running aound like hyper puppes for a good ten minutes before Cujo ran off into the trees. Gray stopped and looked to where he ran off. I was about to call to him but then saw him running back with a huge stick in his mouth. We walked up to me and dropped the stick at my feet and sat down and looked at me as he panted. I bent down and picked up the stick. Cujo and Gray both got excited and got ready to chase the stick. I threw it into the trees and they both sped off after it.
I played around with them for a few hours and noticed it was getting dark and the temperature was dropping. I would try to leave to go back in but Gray would block my path and get me to throw the stick again. Cujo was tired so he slept beside the back door waiting to be let in. I picked up the stick again and threw it further into the trees. Once Gray dashed off after it I rushed to the back door and opened it. I called Cujo inside and once we were both in I closed the door and let out a sigh of relief. I turn to go into the kitchen but then I heard a whimper from outside the door. I ignored and walked into the kitchen and saw Ash with some food.
"Hey Kizzy, I was about to start making dinner. Want to help?" Ash asked me as he put chopped up raw meat in a put.
"Yeah sure," I said as I stepped into the kitchen. " So what are you making?"
"Chicken teriyaki," he said. "Just something quick and easy. You can help me cut the veggies and meat, it'll go faster with two people. So you had enough playing around with Gray and Cujo?"
"Well it was getting dark and cold, but really it was weirding me out. Like, I know he's a human but he's physically a wolf playing around like a dog," I said cutting up some carrots. I looked out the window to see if Gray was still out there. I saw him sitting by the shed and I looked back to the cutting board to focus on what I was doing.
"You'll get used to it eventually," Ash reassured me.
"Beep, beep."
I jumped hearing the sound of a horn. Ash looked towards the front surprised. He dropped his knife and ran to the front door. I followed suit and stood next to him as he looked out the window. H opened the front door and we stood on the front porch looking at the truck that pulled up. Gray ran to the front of the house and stopped in front of the porch and let out a loud whine.
"What's wrong with him?" I asked Ash.
"Something's wrong."
Before I could ask what he meant two people got out of the truck and rushed to the back and opened the doors. They pulled out and other person from the back, they were unconscious, and covered in blood.
"We need you help, Stitch got shot in the back!"
