Chapter 9

"What do you mean Stitch got shot? I thought you guys were supposed to be checking it out from the outside, not the inside," Ash said as he helped Eve move the motionless body out of the truck. "Eve take him inside, Patch come with me I need to talk to you."

"I don't know what happened, we were watching the place from outside, we were hidden out of site from the guards. But then we heard a shot, followed by a thud and we saw Stitch on the ground... Oh Ash it was just terrible," Patch said as she started to cry.

"It's okay Patch, he'll be fine," Ash said hugging Patch. "We just have to take the bullet out and see what happens from there."

"What if he doesn't make it?" Patch asked crying into his shoulder.

"He'll make it, you just have to be positive about this. Let's go inside and see how he is," Ash said escorting Patch inside the house.

I watched them both walk into the house and it was just me and Gray standing outside in the dark. A few seconds later the door opened again and Ash came out with some clothes.

"These are for Gray, he will want to change back. Can you please put these in the shed?" Ash asked me.

I nodded my head and Ash went back inside. I walked around back to the shed to put Gray's clothes in there. He followed me in and I closed the door for him so he could change back. I walked back to the front of the house and looked through the window. The curtains were closed so I couldn't see what was happening in there. I sat down with my back against the house and wrapped my arms around my legs.

I must have fallen asleep because when I opened my eyes I saw myself as a white wolf. I was running through the trees, I felt unstoppable. My dream started to fade away when I felt something shake me. I opened my eyes and saw Gray standing in front of me.

"So I see we aren't allowed into the house," Gray said sitting beside me.

"They'll come get us when they have an update," I said giving him a smile.

"Yeah I hope," he said smiling back and putting his hands on his head.

We sat in silence for a few minutes until the door opened and made us both jump. It was Eve. She walked towards us and looked at me.

"So you must be Kizzy. I'm Eve, but I'm sure Ash has told you that already and who everyone else was," she said. I looked at her and nodded. When I looked at her eyes I saw that they were read. Like she had been crying.

"How's Stitch doing? I'm sure you didn't come you didn't come out here to chat with Kizzy," Gray said with a harsh tone as he stood up.

"You watch your tone with me boy, remember who brought you here in the first place," she said looking at Gray. "Stitch... Stitch lost a lot of blood and where the bullet hit him damaged his spine pretty bad. He's paralyzed from the waist down. The bullet was pure silver, Ash doesn't know if he'll make it to morning. I'm sorry Gray I know he's like a big brother to you but we are trying everything we can to save him."

"So your basically telling me he's going to die no matter what you do?" Gray asked as he started to choke up.

"Gray I'm sorry, but-"

"Just leave me alone Eve, go save Stitch," he said looking away from her.

She gave him a sad look before going back inside to help Stitch. I looked up at Gray and he had his hands on his face. He slid them down and I saw a tear fall from his face. I looked down at the ground before standing up. I walked up to him and gave him a hug. It was weird at first but then he hugged me back tight.

"Aw isn't that sweet, you two make the perfect pair."

We both jumped and let go of each other and looked towards the door and saw Ash standing there.

"Sorry for interrupting but I thought I should just let you know you can go see Stitch if you like. He's asleep so don't wake him," he said.

Gray gave me a small smile before he walked into the house.

"You guys were just hugging out here right?" Ash teased.

"Yes it was just a hug," I said laughing. "Oh Ash can I ask you something?"

"Of course."

"When I was waiting for Gray to change back I fell asleep. And I have this dream that I was a white wolf running through the forest. Does that mean anything or was that just a dream?" I asked him.

"Actually Kizzy it does. You just found out what kind of wolf you are."
