A dream

Naavya giggled as she along with her friend Annu ran across the streets playing tag. Although the game usually consisted of more players, these two little girls always managed to enjoy between themselves. They didn't need anyone else when they were with each other, laughing and running merrily enjoying their time together. Playing at their favorite spot in the town that was behind a small hill across which there ran a beautiful river with water as cold as ice and just as clear. Listening to the sound of the running river always made Naavya happy, whereas Annu liked to climb trees, catch insects and what not. They were the polar opposites of each other but both of them were like really close sisters, by the time they were in primary school that is class 2 Annu had established a gangster personality in all of campus. She always got into fights with boys and often fought them even won most of the times, on the other hand Naavya was the calm one who always tried to get her out of trouble and tried to prevent her from fighting. Their friendship was just perfect, for them and for anyone who looked into it or at it from the outside. Then one fateful day, Naavya left for the urban life with her father and mother. Even so their bond was still unshakable, she left when they were 7 years old and promised Annu that she would visit her every year in the summers until they grew up.

She kept her promise the year after, and the year after that and the year after that and the year after that. In her 16th summer together with Annu, Naavya noticed that she'd lost her tomboyish look and took on a more feminine form and she was a flawless beauty, everything about her was perfect, her hazel brown eyes, her long black hair and her perfect body. Naavya claimed that she'd have fell in love with her if she weren't a girl or was not straight one day and they both had a great laugh together. It was the last time they laughed together, after she left for her home Annu got into a car accident and even though the doctors tried their best, she couldn't be saved. That news didn't reach her best friend until a letter was delivered to their mail a week later, she was so devastated by the news that Naavya did not eat properly almost for a month as when she visited the place for her best friend's spirit salvatiion ceremony, she couldn't bear the fact that she could not talk to her anymore, couldn't play with her anymore and couldn't laugh with her anymore. A shock had left her numb, she did not speak for a whole day until the next day she burst out crying as if she was gonna cry her throat out. Annu's mother hugged her tight as she cried and wiped her tears, but even she and her husband a.k.a her second parents committed suicide the day the rituals were over in the cold of the night, all they left behind was a will to donate half of their property to the medical charities and half of it they wrote it to Naavya and a note that urged Naavya's parents to keep good care of her for the rest of her teenage and until she was self dependent, just as the two best friends had planned to, to live their lives perfectly until they grew up and found their prince charming, then the time they spent together would be fruitful.

Amas woke up gasping for air after a dream that seemed like a biopic to him, trying to process everything he realized everything he saw was what his mother told him while he was in coma, for all those three months. At least that's what made sense to him, so he just went downstairs to prepare for school, he wanted to ask his mother but couldn't gather the courage to bring back probably one of the saddest times of her life, so he quietly went through the morning routine and left for school. On his way he met Kahala who was waiting for him at the usual spot, he waved at her but was lacking his usual energy and she noticed it but didn't say much as she thought it wouldn't be good to intrude in his personal space, so she just walked along momentarily trying to start a conversation and failing at it then finally he spoke out, "I saw my mom's childhood and her teenage life past night in my dream." "Must have been fun, right?" She asked. "Was fun in the childhood part but it got really sad during the teenage life and then I woke up." He replied, with a sad look on his face. "What happened in it?" She asked again and Amas narrated everything to her that he remembered and it if the school had not arrived Kahala would've cried on the spot, but she held it in after all it was just a dream she thought. "The problem is that everything that I saw is true for the most part, almost everything I saw came from the stories she told me while I was in coma." He told her as they went into their classes, none of them were able to focus on the classes for the rest of the day. Even getting scolded for once in the Chemistry class, as they wandered around in their own thoughts. It was quiet a rough day, for both of them as Naavya and Annu were the only things they could think of. After the classes were over and the duo was headed back home, Amas told her that he had to see the doctor at the hospital so that he could check his recovery process and Kahala hatched a plan. "I and my mom can come along and then maybe while talking to your mom we can make her talk about her home village and plan a vacation there during the 15 days break we'll be getting." She said, Amas after thinking a little replied, "But instead of coming along we should make it seem like an accidental meet up, that'd make it easier." And both of them agreed, as soon as Kahala got home she told her mom everything and they decided to stop by a super mart near the hospital.

On reaching the hospital Amas texted Kahala and she along with her mother left for the mart and all according to the plan. There all four of them met when Amas threw a fit to get himself an ice cream and his mother had to give in due to the positive remarks the doctor gave, he came out along with the other duo and all of them together walked into a restaurant just beside the hospital, where they all started to talk about their families and lives and the ladies seemed to have bonded well together. When the time seemed right, Kahala's mom asked, "So Naavya, why don't we go to some countryside for the vacations? Kahala says she wants to experience the countryside." "Good idea!" The children exclaimed and Naavya agreed but then asked, "Where to though? Do you have a place in mind?" "Not really, you see we grew up here I don't really have a village to go to." She said defending herself to which Naavya thought for a moment and then replied, "We do have my parent's home in the countryside of Bihar, but...." then she grew silent for a moment and then continued speaking ,"...we can have a family vacation there, of course." All of them exclaimed with joy as the plan was finalized to visit the place from Naavya's childhood, who seemed a bit hesitant about it but gave in to the temptation of seeing the children happy and all of them had a perfect supper at the restaurant.

Everything was perfect for them at that moment but as they say there's always a calm environment before shit goes down.
