Exhaustion

My ankles hurt from the fall but that didn't stop me from running all the way home. The adrenaline rush was insane and energy surged in me. I could see my house from a distance and was immediately relieved. I slowed down a bit and started jogging over to the place. As I approached the driveway, there was a red car parked right outside my house. There was a lump in my throat as I stopped dead in my track eyeing the back of the car.. A sense of dread washed over me.

' Please…not today..'

I walked over, hesitantly and immediately had second thoughts as I rang the doorbell. To my relief, dad answered the door. Not wanting to be a part of any conversation , I brushed past him directly to my bedroom. I kept my head down all the way to the room and didn't answer any questions from dad. I sped to my room and shut the door and bolted it tight. Dropping the bag, I rested my head against the wooden frame. So much was happening all at once. Especially today.

I took a long hot tub shower and lay in bed till evening. My body ached. However I couldn't tell if it was from physical or mental exhaustion. I looked at the clock next to bed and the time was 7:30p.m. Just then, there was knock on the door. I shot up and nervously looked at the entrance.

"Ayesha, come out now. You have to help me with the chores. I can't do everything on my own"

As much as I didn't want to step out, I knew I'd just be making a scene if I didn't help her. I reluctantly opened my door and walked over to the kitchen.
