The day ended quickly leading to Monday, the literal worst day of the week that exists, and a school day nonetheless, adding to the list of reasons why I hate it so much. When my alarm sounded for me to get ready for school, I crawl out of bed to get dressed.
Picking clothes from my closet, I pull out a black crop top, a pair of grey sweats, and a red jacket to complete the look I usually wear every so often to school. This isn't only because it's some of my comfiest clothes, although that is one of the key reasons, they also happen to be far better than half the other clothes I wear.
After slipping on a pair of vans and pulling my auburn hair into a ponytail, I put my backpack on my back with the straps over my shoulders, and shortly after, I left for the bus stop to go to school.
The ride there was the same boring 30 minutes as always that I spent sitting alone surrounded by people I don't know. 'I can't wait until I can get out of here.' I thought as I dragged my feet to the front entrance moving as slow as if I'm crippled from an injury although if I actually had one I would likely be moving faster than I am.
Once I entered the school, I found Liam, my childhood and current best friend as he's always been. "Hey gorgeous, how is your morning?" Liam asked half-jokingly, giving me a crescent moon half-smile fitting his crooked look which would match well if compared to a JD. (Juvenile Delinquent) The way his hair fell in a beautiful mess of short curls right above his partly shaved eyebrow with his bright blue eyes only contributed more to the look.
I know he isn't a JD, but I'm sure people who don't talk to him think he is. Although I think with all the problems, he's caused at school, in public, and at home, it's surprising how he hasn't been in trouble at Juvenile hall. At least that would be the case if he wasn't so charismatic with all different types of people, which is kind of amazing seeing how at school he's basically the opposite and acts totally different.
"My morning was good until I happened to run into you." I joked, inching up to give him a hug. "Good thing you're still short, all is still right in the world." Liam snickered, hugging me back. "Haha, very funny, you should be a comedian," I said full of sarcasm, giving him one of my classic eye rolls which I've seemed to master from doing it to him so often.
"Hmm, maybe I will," Liam said, walking with me upstairs. "Liam the comedian! What do you think?" he asked giving a pose in front of me which stops me from walking. "Good luck with that," I said, rolling my eyes again as I manage to pass him in the hallway by walking on the other side. "Way to believe in me! I am offended!" Liam said overdramatically, his face scrunched with a weird unknown emotion I've seen from him a little too often.
But what caught my attention other than his facial expression was Peirce walking with Marc and Maxine further down the hallway which I saw right over Liam's shoulder, when all of a sudden they stop at the row of lockers.
It's far away from where Liam and I are walking, but the gap between us is slowly closing as we continue to walk down the hallway getting closer to all the people I want so desperately to avoid and I try to walk as slow as I can not knowing to tell him to turn back or not.
Both Maxine and Marc seem pretty beat up, Maxine with a black eye and Marc with scratches across the right side of his face and a bruise on his lower jaw from the other day. "Hey, let's go the other way," I said quickly, pushing him in the other direction. "What, wh-" Liam started soon cut off by Maxine who was making her way over to us.
"Hey, Arabella, what's up?" Maxine asked. "Too late," I whispered before she made her way over to us. "Oh, not much. Still early in the day, I guess." I forced and continued shortly after. "How are you know, well...How are you?" I asked, struggling with my words and I can see Liam out the corner of my eye laughing.
'I sounded like a total idiot!' I thought to myself. "Uhm I'm pretty good I guess," Maxine said. "Max what are you doing? Get over here." Marc demanded. Ignoring him, Maxine pressed forward. "Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to go somewhere after school." "I don't know..." I started. "Pleaseeee!" Maxine pleaded. "Well..." I said unsure.
"Max! Get over here!" Marc demanded again. Maxine looked at Liam for help. 'He better not.' I thought. "Sounds good to me, we'll be there," Liam answered for me. I glared at him, but neither of them noticed so I made a point by making a face slap gesture to Liam and neither of them seemed to notice again. "Great! See you then." Maxine said, bounding away happily.
"Great. That's just perfect!" I said full of sarcasm. "Oh come on, it'll be fun! Loosen up gorgeous!" Liam mused. "You just think she's hot." I retaliated. "Yeah, but with looks like that, who wouldn't?" Liam replied looking at Maxine who was walking away.
"I swear you say that about any girl you come across," I said, turning away from Maxine and walking in the other direction. "No, I don't I don't say those things about you," Liam replied and gave me a wink before we start walking again as he followed after me looking over his shoulder at Maxine.
"You're going to end up running into someone," I told him irritated. Liam looked back, walking with me, while his eyes traveled back to gaze thoughtlessly in front of the two of us almost walking into people as he does which further grows my agitation.
In class, I could hardly pay attention to the lesson because I am so angry at Liam for agreeing not only himself but for me as well to hang out with them after school today. This wouldn't be such an issue if Peirce wasn't going to go, but of course, he was!
I don't know what I feel about him since he kissed me. I used to like him and I know that, but I don't anymore. Right?
