Chapter 13: A Final Decision

SEAMUS

Amelia smiled, a sad sort fo smile that tugged at Seamus' heart.

'Yes, that was my name a long time ago in another life.'

'We were told you died.' A small nub of anger was beginning to from in his stomach.

'In a way Amalie did die. I will never be able to return to Hand, nor will I ever go by that name again. I am Amelia and, to all but a few of our family, I am dead.'

Amelia lifted her head and met his angry gaze. 'And I am living proof that although your father upholds the Rule of Hand when it comes to those born with mage powers, he has a strong sense of family. He has never been able to completely let me go. He visits sometimes, and has taken Liam into his confidence so that I may have company when he cannot come. He doesn't know it, but your mother and her brother also visit from time to time. They stop by the markets when I attend, sometimes I am forewarned that they need me and I will go especially to Port Marden to meet with them.'
