Chapter 69: Not So Smooth Sailing

They boarded the small vessel and took a position near the bow, where a canvas shelter had been erected for them. The trip would take them well into the morning, so they settled out of the crew's way, and tried to get some sleep.

The crossing was uneventful and the gentle rocking had them all asleep in minutes. Before drifting off, Seamus mused this time yesterday morning he had been in full court attire attending a meeting of his father's council. Now he was more humbly dressed, travelling on a fishing boat on another adventure. How quickly things could change. How odd his life had become.

Just as dawn was breaking, Seamus awoke to shouting. The captain had caught sight of a ship heading directly towards them at full speed.
