Aliah returned the hug of the younger boy who a moon or so ago led Walter, Seamus and herself out of Duncameron through the sewers below the streets. Pauley had been forced to share Aliah's horse all the way to Bannock to avoid capture. They parted ways abruptly, leaving him at the markets with the farmer who had smuggled them in to town, while they went to report news of the pending invasion to her father.


She always regretted not being able to say a proper farewell to the boy, and only found out Pauley had made it safely home from his adventures a couple of days ago. He then left a short time later when some mutual friends came south to help fight against the Carsten invasion.


'Pauley, it is good to see you too. What are you doing here?' Aliah untangled herself and found the man everyone called Boss sitting at the table with a mug of steaming tea in front of him.
