Chapter 147: Towards The Final Battle

AMELIA

An exhausted Amelia paused to take a breath and surveyed the scene around her. Many of the injured guards were sleeping peacefully, having taken a sleeping drought after their wounds had been tended to. Just as many again lay waiting for herself and Baron Rasmussen's surgeon to attend to them.

Sighing, she picked up her bag and moved to the next poor boy, aware she brought this on herself when she insisted they treat the injured soldiers from Carsten as well. As Captain William's objected, the baron himself rode up and she found a surprising supporter when he insisted they treat their enemy as they would wish to be treated should the tables be turned.

Now she paid for her folly, but still, it was good to be busy. It stopped her thinking about poor Daniel, and the other boys who had not survived to be treated by her. She was so engrossed in her work, Boss had to touch her on the shoulder to alert her to his presence.
