Absolutely spent, Aliah stopped running in time to see Walter's light wink out. Without thinking, she followed him out of Gaius' mind only to find herself in the middle of total chaos.


While they had been intent on binding the god, a battle had found them. They were in the centre of a group of Hand guards who seemed intent on defending them from a greater number of Carsten soldiers. Seeing they were safe for the moment, she knelt to check on Walter.


The older wizard looked pale and drawn, and there was a sheen of sweat on his brow. She let out a sigh of relief as she saw his chest rise and fall. Placing one hand on him and the other on her sword, she channeled a little healing energy, and was relieved when Walter opened his eyes. He managed a weak smile before falling back into unconsciousness.
