Curious and curiouser

Curiosity killed the cat. That is a famous saying that guilty people love to say when someone gets too close to solve out the mystery that they had been hiding. A saying that if looked close into might show the true intentions of some people. Big secrets can only end up in killing you. Lies eat us alive with every second they are kept hidden in the depths of our mind.

Blair was a curious young woman. She would still see herself as a child, something that would always keep her busy and made her enjoy her alone time. Her getting to work for J.I.L. as a student represents a big chance, or so she would like to tell her parents and boyfriend. After the tour of the ward and meeting Doctor Juniper's staff, she was more than excited to come back to start her volunteering job.

"So? How was the underground?" Dakota asked Blair as they met at the entrance.

"Very peculiar." Blair said. Doctor Juniper's staff was formed of a rather odd group.

"What do you mean? You are so weird with your mysterious answers!" Dakota laughed.

"Like, her team is made of the Big Four, or at least that is what she claims." Blair scoffed as she and her friend left the Juniper Institute of Life. "Not to be rude, but they seem to be kinda unprofessional, if you ask me."

"Big Four? Explain, I didn't search for the J.I.L. personel to know about this. I don't know much about J.I.L. if I take a moment to think about it, just that it's really popular and high-class." Dakota said, scrolling through her phone.

"Apparently, they are the most skilled surgeons and nurses anyone has ever met and it so happenes that Abra Juniper got them on her team. But really now, they seem so lame." Blair rolled her eyes as she remembered the meet with the Big Four.

Abra Juniper was walking her to the last room, and most important. It was the main office in the Neurology Ward. When the two of them walked in, they found a black haired man sleeping on a chair with his feet on the desk, arms crossed over his chest and head hanging forward.

"Oh, dear God, Patrick! Having balls of steel, I see." Abra mumbled as she approached the sleeping man. "Wakey, wakey!" She said as she shook the chair the man was sleeping in.

"Jesus, fuck! Abra, how many times did I tell ya' to cut this crap!" The man jumped to his feet. "Holy shit, you scared the hell out of me!"

"Watch your language when you are speaking to your higher ups, especially when it comes to your goddamn boss." Abra said with a smile on her face, eyes empty.

"Man, I swear to God.." The man whispered to himself. He had somewhat of a long hair, the length of it ending by his jawline. "Who is this?" He said, looking directly at Blair.

"Our new volunteer!" Abra announced proudly.

"How exciting, I wonder how long will this one last.." The man scoffed. "What's your name?"

Blair looked into his eyes and blocked for a second. "I'm Blair..." She said in a soft voice.

"Blair? Blair what? Did the cat get your tongue?" The man snickered.

"Patrick, you are being awfully rude! No wonder you are 30 and alone, no woman would enjoy someone like you." Doctor Abra interfered.

"Funny." The man scoffed.

"Blair Rochette, meet Patrick Nöel Faggart, best surgeon the world can provide. He specialises in tumors. Had to fish this one myself, was pretty hard not gonna lie!" Doctor Abra Juniper laughed.

"Give me a break." Patrick scoffed. He grabbed a clipboard with papers and left the room.

"Tough crowd today." Abra snickered. "I really thought they will all be here." She said, more to herself than to Blair.

"How many people are actually on this team you told me about?" Blair asked, regaining her composture.

"Only four and you already met one of them. The other three are probably on duty." Abra told her. Just as she finished, the door to the office opened.

"Doctor Abra Juniper!" A woman said as she entered. She was wearing nurse clothes.

"Cherry, mon chéri!" Abra greeted the woman, earning a giggle from her.

"Good day, Doctor Juniper!" A man said as he walked close behind the first woman, wearing nurse clothes as well.

"Why was Patrick so angry just a moment ago?" Another man entered the room, closing the door behind him. He had a lab coat on him.

"Junpei, Leon, good day to you guys!" Abra waved. "Don't worry about that sour man, you know how easily he gets pissed."

"Indeed, he does." The man with the lab coat said. "Oh, hi! Are you the new volunteer?" He asked surprised as he noticed Blair.

"Guys, meet Blair Rochette, a first year at Martinez's university. Her and her friend were nice enough to give us a hand." Abra said as she smiled at Blair.

"Welcome, miss Rochette! I am Cherry Allard, here to help you out if you need me!" The woman in nurse clothing smiled at Blair.

"Leonte Gasperini, at your service." The man in nurse clothing winked at Blair.

"Junpei Takeda." Blair got a nod from the last man entering the room as he presented himself.

"It's nice to meet you." Blair said quietly.

"A shy one!" Leonte exclaimed as he approached Blair.

"Leon! You promised me you will keep to yourself from now on, what a player!" Cherry whined as she tugged on his shirt.

"Doctor Juniper, when can I have my vacation?" Junpei walked Abra's way, too used to the pair's behaviour.

"You guys are wearing me out all the time. Thank God you are good at your jobs or else I would've gotten a lot of shit for trying so hard to get you in my hospital." Abra Juniper sighed.

"Doctor Juniper, please, I gave you the two weeks notice when I asked for this vacation." Junpei continued calmly, a bit gloom.

"We want to go on a vacation too!" Cherry whined again as she tugged on Leonte's shirt harder.

"Why is it so loud in here?" The door slammed open, revealing Patrick. "God, I just went next door to check my papers and I can't focus because of you all talking so loud." He groaned.

"Blair, I present to you the Big Four team! Hope you can keep up with this bunch." Abra Juniper laughed as the others started to look straight at Blair. She could not understand how Doctor Juniper thought that these four are the best of the best nor how they can be enough to make a great team.
