Not alone anymore - prologue part 3

Alone in the room, the boy wondered what to do while waiting. He decided to take a look at his room. It wasn't a very large room, but he liked it.

The walls were painted blue and white. There were only two beds and a wooden cupboard in the room. There was also a large window that let sunlight into the room. The boy stood on tiptoe to look out the window. Outside he could see a small courtyard with a large tree in the middle where a group of children were playing together. In the distance the boy could see large buildings and he wondered how high they go, since the peaks were hidden behind the clouds.

He stood for a while at the window and watched the children playing happily outside without changing a face. He wondered if he should go downstairs and play along too, but ultimately decided against it and stayed in the room.

A long time passed when someone finally opened the door and the lady from the orphanage appeared with what seemed to be an older couple.

They sat on one Nett while the boy sat on the other. The lady introduced the two of them and said that they belonged to the nobility and are duke and duchess. She then bowed in the direction of the two and disappeared back out the door.

They sat on one bed while the boy sat on the other. The lady introduced the two of them and said that they belonged to the nobility and are duke and duchess. She then bowed in the direction of the two and disappeared back out the door.

The boy looked at the two of them and wondered what they were doing in an orphanage. He found her clothes very high quality and luxurious, but also very beautiful.

The woman began to speak to the boy by telling how she learned from the newspaper that children who had been abducted and whose parents could not be found were being placed in orphanages. She also said that she and her husband always wanted to have children, but they are not able to, so they decided to adopt a child.

The boy listened to her and didn't care whether he was adopted or not, but he found the woman a little likeable.

The woman and the man asked the boy a few questions, but the boy didn't speak very much and just kept nodding his head in response.

After a while the lady reappeared with a pile of papers in her hand. She talked briefly with the couple, handed them the papers and then went up to the boy and said:

"You are lucky. The nice couple will take you in from today. You can go with them right away. "

The couple smiled at the boy and the woman lovingly named the boy's hand. They made their way outside, with a couple of children looking at the three, but the boy was not impressed.

Once outside, the new family greeted two people dressed in white uniforms who bowed to the couple and looked at the boy with skeptical eyes. But they went on without saying anything and accompanied the three to a very high quality-looking shuttle.

It was painted white, which made it shine in the sun. The windows were black from the outside so that you couldn't look inside.

As they got closer to the shuttle, the doors of it opened, which surprised the boy. When the woman noticed this she started to smile. She stroked the boy's hair and said,

"We'll be on our way to your new home and then you will get new clothes and a new haircut."

The boy nodded in agreement and then got on the luxurious shuttle with the others, which also attracted one or two glances from the people who were walking in the area, as they were still in one of the poorer parts of the city at the moment.
