48. Day 3

Once again, August woke up in this house.

" The last day. The main thing is to endure, and then we'll see. "

He went to the bathroom, did all his chores there, and went to the kitchen.

Polly was standing behind the stove as usual, making breakfast. Augustus rode up to the table without a word, and Polly also served him breakfast without a word, breakfast was held in complete silence and a strange atmosphere.

After that, the nurses came and examined August.

--- Very good. I think by the evening you will be able to walk safely, the body is fully restored.

" At least some good news. "

--- This is our last visit, and we hope you won't get so sick again.

The nurses packed up and left quickly. Polly didn't stay long either, she packed up her things and went to work without saying anything to August, but it was just the opposite for him.

" --- So, the house is completely at my disposal. What would you like to do with yourself ?

--- We want to talk

--- Wow ! I forgot about you again.

--- We're used to it.

--- Good. "

Augustus drove up to the living room, climbed out of the wheelchair onto the sofa, and closed his eyes.

" --- What do you want to talk about ?

--- We're interested in something.

--- Go ahead, ask. I'm an open book to you.

--- Why do you send out negative waves when that woman, Polly, is next to you?

--- This is quite difficult to explain.

--- We listen, we have a lot of free time inside of you.

--- This...it sounded strange.

--- ...

--- Well, where to start. "

Augustus took a more comfortable position on the couch.

" --- How to explain it. Here you are, the merger, there are a lot of you.

--- Yes. We are many and few at the same time. We are one.

--- How would you feel if one of the parties started being aggressive towards the other party ?

--- This is impossible

--- Let's just imagine it. To make you feel ?

---... anger, sadness, misunderstanding.

--- This also applies to us. In our human society, mother and son are one. Only, I was unlucky with the other half.

--- What if the other half had a reason ?

--- Cluster, in my case there was no reason. She was just drinking and hitting me, that's the whole reason.

--- You're a hypocrite. You said that everyone always has a beginning.

--- Then I'll be a hypocrite. Because there was no reason to be here.

--- This is idiotic. You only look at white and black, you don't try to find other colors.

--- I know. I know there are a lot of other colors out there. But in her case, there is only black color.

--- This is wrong.

--- That's the kind of people we are. We are wrong in our own right . I think that's the end of the conversation. "

August opened his eyes. The conversation with the Cluster opened up old wounds. Wounds that have long been closed.

" When, when I also believed. I believed that she had a reason, a reason to beat me up. But over time, I realized. Over time, I became disillusioned. There is no reason, there is only a mother who has gone to beat her defenseless, seven-year-old son. There is no reason. " - August's eyes began to water a little. His old self was bursting out.

He quickly rubbed his eyes and looked at the wall. It was already evening. It seems that the conversation with the Cluster was not so long.

There was a noise from the kitchen. I think Polly's home. August got into the wheelchair and drove to the kitchen.

In the kitchen, Polly was lying on the table with a bottle of expensive whiskey in her hands. Her eyes, under the influence of alcohol, were clouded. But she could still see Augustus.

--- August ! My son ! Come to your mother, let me hug you !

But Augustus stood there, his fists clenched, looking at Polly.

--- You lied. You said you don't drink anymore !

--- I don't drink ! It's just a small bottle of whiskey. I celebrate your recovery.

--- I shouldn't have believed you. You're still the same, and I'm naive.

--- Hey ! Are you judging me ? You ?

--- What did I do ? There's nothing to blame me for !

--- You ran away ! Left me alone ! - Polly jerked out of her recumbent position and slammed the bottle down hard on the table.

--- What was I supposed to do ?! Stay and continue to suffer beatings ?!

--- Don't exaggerate, I didn't hit you that hard.

--- A normal mother doesn't hit her children at all !

--- You know, it's not a gift either ! - Polly got up from the table and walked over to August.

--- You were an accident ! If it wasn't for me, you wouldn't exist !

--- Then I should have had an abortion ! At least I didn't live in terror for 16 years of my life !

--- You had everything. Food, clothing, money, housing ! What else did you want from me?!

--- MOTHER ! I needed my mother ! I wish I hadn't been born at all, so long as you weren't my mother !

--- You ! - Polly raised her hand and slapped Augustus hard. The impact sent him flying out of the wheelchair and into the wall.

--- I didn't want you at all ! I didn't want a son !

After her words, the house fell silent. Polly's mind began to slowly move away from the alcohol and she seemed to understand what she had done.

--- August ! - she quickly walked over to him and reached out to pick him up. But August's hand struck her sharply.

--- Good. Then I'm not your son anymore. From now on, we are nothing to each other. - Augustus managed to get up, and on shaky legs, he started to walk out of the house.

--- August, stop ! Please wait ! - and even though Polly had asked him to stop, she hadn't done anything about it. Just sat there and watched him slowly walk away.

Augustus left the house. He began to move away from him, and the sunset beat in his face. So the third day came to an end. This time, he didn't turn around. A light breeze was blowing on his face, the sun was shining on his face, and he was feeling good...free.

Nothing else connected him, the past was gone. Now, he's starting his new life. With a new family, friends and a dizzying adventure.

We can all say what we want. The addict will say that he no longer takes drugs. A thief who no longer steals. An alcoholic who would never touch a bottle again. But these are just words. We humans have learned to deceive even ourselves.
